COI

Hi. Based on your edits, I have a suspicion that you're a conflict of interest for Taunton Press. Per Wiki policy, people who work for a company and edit in that space need to be particularly careful about their edits, so that pages don't become advertisements or push a point of view. In this edit, for example, you link to Taunton's store, which is a violation of external links policy. Please review our policies before you edit further. Thanks. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 15:52, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi Annyong- I have reviewed the COI info and put a userpage telling about me. I hope that helps. I have been reviewing policies, rules and regulations but I'm overwhelmed with them and the circular nature of maneuvering through what seem to be redundant entries. Any guidance is appreciated. A question, who are you all who review the entries and how do you know to do it? How do I find the right someone to clarify when I need clarification? --Ronz (talk) 19:30, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi Ronz- I'm so new to this excuse the ignorance (which I seem to have a knack for despite spending two days reading Wiki Wikis). Not sure if this is the way to respond to talk either... What are the link summaries above for and what do they mean? What do I do with the information and links associated with each URL? These are the links to the Taunton publications, I'm guessing from the Taunton Press page I've tried updating. I see now the links were removed. Are the divisions of their company not relevant to their wiki? ~~ErinNik 23 June 2010

Linkspam

Stop adding links to finecooking.com on articles such as Caramel, Puff pastry and Fruit curd. It's considered a breach of the policy on external links. If you continue to add these links you may find yourself blocked. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 23:51, 22 June 2010 (UTC)

I'm really not trying to get blocked. Didn't see the discussion page had messages in need of reading - Didn't realize this is how it's done. Still very new. I read WP:EL and see where I certainly made some mistakes, but I'm still unclear about some things. I have tried to be careful to put informative, relevant and non-promotional links in a few spots. The links I've added are similar to others I've seen on entries. I'm unclear as to why the link to an informative video demonstrating how caramel is made isn't relevant and informative to the topic of caramel? Where I've put links to recipes, mostly it has been to a gallery of recipes for that food. Yet those links were removed when a single random recipe for caramel from homebaking.mobi remains. Did I add too many links to too many places at once? Can you help me understand? I really want to do it right. ~~ErinNik 23 June 2010
I guess it can be a fine line to make the right judgement....but you really drew attention to yourself by posting similar material to several articles. This is very visible and I, amongst many others will then track down all your edits to check them all out. As a consequence some others that were slipped in quietly get missed. But.... the single caramel recipe doesn't seem to be promoting any commercial organisation - most (all ?) of your edits seemed to be actively promoting Taunton Publishing. As a good general rule, don't promote any commercial organisations and your edits should be fine. Best of luck.  Velela  Velela Talk   22:07, 23 June 2010 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Fine Homebuilding (magazine), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this article is not blatant advertising, you may contest the tagging. To do this, please add {{hangon}} on the top of Fine Homebuilding (magazine) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would help make it encyclopedic, as well as adding any citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the article will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Access Denied(t|c|g|d|s) 03:56, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Hello Access Denied- I intended this page to be in my userspace to develop then ask for review before posting, but alas I'm still learning the ropes here and keep falling off. I don't see any way for me to correct my own error on this one. Please help remove this article asap and thank you for catching my error so quickly. ErinNik (talk) 04:21, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
I moved it to your userspace here. Access Denied(t|c|g|d|s) 04:33, 9 July 2010 (UTC) (Note: I'm not an administrator, so I was able to move the page into your userspace, but not able to completely remove the original page - an administrator will have to do that.

Taunton Press awards

Hi. I've removed the awards section for several reasons, which you can read on Talk:Taunton Press#Awards section. Please read the notes I've written there, and let's discuss them first. Thanks. — HelloAnnyong (say whaaat?!) 18:18, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

FYI

".ogv" is not a typo; it is a video format. --Golbez (talk) 18:18, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

Thanks! I saw Nasa).ogv and figured it was Nasa.gov. Found out pretty quickly I was wrong. Hate when I parade my ignorance publically! ErinNik (talk) 18:36, 27 August 2010 (UTC)

Hello, ErinNik. You have new messages at WP:FEED#http:.2F.2Fen.wikipedia.org.2Fwiki.2FJoseph_Lstiburek.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

I replied to your comment. If you want to continue, I actually think it's easier for both of us to just use either your, or my own, talk page, as the actual feedback thread is in the archives, and it's pretty hard to find now. Chevymontecarlo 19:41, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:CRRA logo.gif

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:CRRA logo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Acather96 (talk) 17:54, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

Wow, you're quick ;). I am uploading three non-free images for an article in my userspace that will go live once the images are uploaded and inserted.... likely within the next 20 minutes. Thanks. ErinNik (talk) 17:58, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
Sorry about the quickness (maybe I forgot to assume good faith?.) Thanks for uploading the images and contributing, I will remove the tags. Thanks, Acather96 (talk) 18:02, 24 September 2010 (UTC)

License tagging for File:Trashmuseum logo.png

Thanks for uploading File:Trashmuseum logo.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image.
