[edit]Article evaluation for Shirley Hufstedler:
- Is everything in the article relevant to the article topic? Is there anything that distracted you?
-Most things are relevant to the article topic, especially since it is so short to begin with. However, there was a mention of Hufstedler befriending Ernie Pyle, which I don't understand the relevancy of.
- Is the article neutral? Are there any claims, or frames, that appear heavily biased toward a particular position?
-It seems to be neutral.
- Are there viewpoints that are overrepresented, or underrepresented?
-I think her career and life accomplishments are underrepresented and needs more attention.
- Check a few citations. Do the links work? Does the source support the claims in the article?
-The links work for the citations. However, I do not think the citations used are all appropriate or reliable.
→Reference 2 is a newspaper article that includes interesting details about Hufstedler's life that I think are worth including and have not been. However, the newspaper also has a biased tone when discussing Hufstedler that should be recognized.
→Reference 3 is a newspaper article that is written in response to Hufstelder's death. Perhaps sources 1. the type of source it is (NYT??) 2. prompted by her death
→Reference 5 comes from ESPN, which I just find ironic. The first United States Secretary of Education deserves to be more thoroughly research that that.
→Reference 6 also has a clear bias towards Hufstedler, much of which is focused on her being a woman. Instead of recalling on only facts, there's an un-ignorable focus on her appearances, temperament, and other comments pertaining to her being a woman and wife. →References 8 & 9 are also news paper articles that are written in response to Hufstedler's death. Her article page should really be much more expansive.
- Is each fact referenced with an appropriate, reliable reference? Where does the information come from? Are these neutral sources? If biased, is that bias noted?
-I kind of touched on this is the above comments. Some of the sources mentioned used were clearly biased to me. Also, the sources seem to be either very old or very recent.
- Is any information out of date? Is anything missing that could be added?
-Specifics about her accomplishments and not just generalizations of what she has done should be added. Also, more information about her and what she believed in. Perhaps quotations citing her.
- Check out the Talk page of the article. What kinds of conversations, if any, are going on behind the scenes about how to represent this topic?
-There is no conversations going on behind the scenes about this article topic.
- How is the article rated? Is it a part of any WikiProjects?
-It is part of the following WikiProjects: WikiProject Biography/Politics and Government, WikiProject California, WikiProject United States/Colorado, WikiProject United States courts and judges, and WikiProject Women's History.
