Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, discussion pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at Wikipedia:Teahouse, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Cordless Larry (talk) 22:50, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Your edit to Shirley Ann Jackson

[edit]

Hi there. I have reverted this edit that you made to Shirley Ann Jackson. I did so because it includes promotional language; things like Dr. Jackson’s scientific breakthroughs were vital to modern society and enable the high-tech telecommunications that we are able to enjoy today. She continues to contribute her skills and passions to society today through education and public service. are not appropriate for an encyclopaedia (see WP:NPOV and WP:PROMO). It also has issues with regard to our manual of style: For example, Wikipedia does not refer to article subjects as "Dr." (MOS:DOCTOR) and names in leads should be bolded. You also removed vital information like her date of birth. If you can improve the edit and reinstate it in accordance with our policies and guidelines, please do so; expanding biographies like hers is certainly a worthwhile effort. On a different note, I wanted to ask whether your class participates in Wiki Education Foundation programme? While you and some others have been engaging in peer review and mentioning classes during your edits, it's not clear who your instructor is and which institution you're affiliated with. Registering with WikiEd to get staff support and official points of contact is by no means mandatory, but often a good idea – pinging @Ian (Wiki Ed): you may be able to weigh in on in this as well.
