Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Party affiliations of South Australian district councillors

[edit]

Good afternoon ExecutiveWashington. I noticed that you have put a lot of work into tables of current councillors of SA local government, with a column for their political party. I don't want to just remove that column, but I feel that it is misleading, or at least presenting undue weight, since council candidates do not generally campaign on party platforms. Despite several of them being members of political parties, and duly declaring that, they stand for local government as independents, without party backing. How do you feel about removal of that column? I did notice that my 2013 Palmer United Party candidate has not declared current PUP membership. --Scott Davis Talk 04:30, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Scott. You do bring up a good few points. And you are right that a lot of councillors don't generally campaign on their party affiliation. However, I feel like that if one councillor declares its party in the city's register of interests, I would add its party affiliation to the council. Besides, a lot of the councillors are still independents and most don't really declare their party affiliations in the register of interests. It's also cited as well. Besides, some of NSW local government areas have councillors with party affiliations, so why not add that information to some of the councillors in SA? ExecutiveWashington (talk) 05:26, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I think that NSW local government is much more party-based than SA is.
I'm afraid I split the conversation, by also posting to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Adelaide#party column in lists of current councillors, so it would be better for us to recombine the conversation to just that one open forum rather than your talk page, if that's OK by you. I'll let you comment there rather than me continuing this fork. --Scott Davis Talk 07:48, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
