Article deletion

Hi! I thought I'd explain the reasons for deletion. I deleted it for a few reasons, two of which are more prominent than the others and which I'll discuss first.

The main reasons for this deletion was that the article read a lot like a resume or CV. Resumes and CVs are written in order to promote the individual in question, so they're inherently promotional. You can sometimes use them as something to check against for an article (although you should ideally be backing all of the claims up with independent reliable sources), but the article should not be a copy of the CV/resume. This leads to the second point - the content appeared to be copied from Dr. Sayegh's Linkedin page. This makes it a copyright violation on Wikipedia, which is another reason I deleted it, as legally Wikipedia cannot host content that has been published elsewhere, unless the content has been released as fair use. The general rule of thumb is that unless the website is clearly marked as fair use or the author marks it as such, we should automatically assume that the material is copyrighted. (WP:COPYVIO, WP:PROMOTIONAL) It's actually easy to make an article that is promotional and/or has copyright issues without realizing it, especially when you're new, so don't beat yourself up too hard over this. I did some of the exact same things when I first started editing.

The other reason was that there wasn't a huge assertion of notability for Dr. Sayegh, although this wasn't as dire an issue as the promotional and copyright concerns would be on here. Something to keep in mind is that working within a profession or doing noble things doesn't immediately give someone notability on Wikipedia. The bar here is set so terribly high that it usually takes quite a lot to establish notability. Usually for academic professionals and scientists the easiest way to show notability is to show where their work is considered landmark and/or where they're a member of an especially prestigious society. Awards are kind of iffy on here since there tends to be so many of them and what's considered to be noteworthy on here is kind of difficult. Usually it depends on who is giving it, how many people get the same award, the difficulty of receiving the award, and what media outlets cover the award and to what degree.

My recommendation for you would be to try creating the article at the articles for creation process, which would give you a lot more time to work on the article. You'd also likely gain a little guidance during the process since the article will be reviewed by another editor, who will either accept the article or decline it. Ideally they should give you a little feedback, but I know that this doesn't always happen to the degree that one wants or needs, so I'd also heavily recommend using the WP:TEAHOUSE, which is a place you can ask a lot of questions. There's always someone there to help you out. I'm not as terribly familiar with all of the ins and outs of academics and medical professionals, so I'd also recommend that you look into seeking help through WP:MEDICINE, a WikiProject devoted to coverage of medical related topics.

One side note though - when listing the names of papers that Dr. Sayegh participated in, you should list the title itself rather than the abstract. For example, this paper is titled "Identification of small molecule inhibitors of Jumonji AT-rich interactive domain 1B (JARID1B) histone demethylase by a sensitive high throughput screen."
