Your pictures on Snapshot (photography)[edit]

The article description states that snapshots are created "spontaneously and quickly, most often without artistic or journalistic intent and usually made with a relatively cheap and compact camera." Elsewhere it says "Snapshots render memorable moments in imperfect images" and "The style typically features apparently banal everyday subject matter and off-centered framing". I recognize very little of any of that in your pictures. The top one looks like it was made with a very decent camera and plenty of professional skills and time. Both images seem to have been made with some thought about composition (framing and angle), which is a clear aesthetic/artistic choice. In both pictures, it even seems like the camera is held rather low to achieve the chosen angle, which is seldom done spontaneously or quickly. Being a (professional?) photographer can easily make one forget what a spontaneous and quick snapshot really looks like and imho is a very poor argument to HAVE TO put your pictures in this wikipedia article. I don't feel any need for an edit war, so could you please remove them yourself? There are other wikipedia-pages where you could place them. I think the top one would be great on the Selfie article, even as the lead pic if I was to choose.Joortje1 (talk) 07:46, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hey! Thanks for the reply.
1) I am a NOT a professional photographer.
2) I do NOT take photos with professional equipment. In fact, the picture of the tourist was taken with my simple compact camera that I always have with me. The other with a system camera for enthusiasts.
3) It is wrong to say in the article (+ source reference is missing for the statement) that snapshots "usually made with a relatively cheap and compact camera". Snapshots can be done with any camera. In fact, most snapshots are made by professional photographers in connection with moving events (demonstrations, quarrels, war events, unforeseen events, etc etc).
4) Street photography is often snapshots. Many professionals take the best pictures.
5) I take thousands of snapshots every month of people in different sudden situations but delete most of them because they do not measure up to preservation.
6) Both pictures I posted were taken within a few seconds when I saw the people's movements. Two seconds later it was too late. It is obvious why when you see what they do in the picture. The picture of the tourist appeared when I was sitting and reading on a bench and therefore the angle is low. She suddenly appeared, I grabbed the camera and pressed. And the result was - voilà - a snapshot!
7) Both images were from the beginning oblique, too dark and with irrelevant objects that disturbed why I edited and cropped them. Note! Post-editing can very well be done with snapshot images. The most important thing is that the picture is taken quickly in "a sudden moment when something happens that after a few seconds is not left". An ordinary picture of people on a street can be a snapshot, even if the picture is banal.
8) I posted the pictures to illustrate how broad the concept of snapshot really is. The key is that the pictures are taken quickly when something of photographic value appears. Not which camera you use or that the images have to look shaky or "without artistic or journalistic intent".

Nicolai Gedda in Galärvarvskyrkogården[edit]

Hi FFswe! First of all, I wanted to express my appreciation for the wonderful photos you've been uploading, specially the ones of Galärvarvskyrkogården. Regarding that, I noticed that we still don't have a photo of Nicolai Gedda's (buried there) grave on Commons (or anywhere on the internet, actually, which is so unusual for this relevant figure). Given your excellent work, I thought it could be a great addition to his own article and to the List of burial places of classical musicians, if you ever have the chance to capture it, or if you know someone that could.

Thanks so much for considering it, and for all your contributions so far! Cheers — Gor1995 𝄞 15:03, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Thank you for the message. Unfortunately, there is no marked grave site for Nicolai Gedda at Galärvarvskyrkogården because he was buried in a memorial grove without any marking. Otherwise I could of course have taken a picture. Best regards, FFswe (talk) 20:25, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much for replying and for the info! Huh, I did not know that... I guess i should have checked Swedish sources, my bad. I updated the info accordingly. Regards — Gor1995 𝄞 21:34, 12 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
