Additional notes on changes in this draft[edit]

Hi editors, I thought I'd add some context related to changes made between the live article and my draft. I'll go section by section here. I also want to note that I've updated/fixed/rescued/replaced references as needed and made sure naming conventions are consistent throughout the article.

Infobox

Changes include:

  • Updated the various figures with the latest numbers
  • Added additional fields in the Infobox Company template
  • Changed CEO to reflect current leadership
  • Changed "Products" to "Services" and added new information there
  • Added more info about the founding of FPL and HQ location

Introduction

  • Removed unsourced claim about being the principal subsidiary of NextEra Energy
  • Noted HQ location
  • Updated customer numbers
  • Added information about generation facilities and capacity
  • Updated awards from PA Consulting
  • Removed bit about Gulf Power merger, which does not strike me as introduction worthy
  • Removed all citations from the intro per MOS:LEADCITE

History

  • Added subheadings for enhanced readability and organization
  • Expanded the early history with more information from reliable sources
  • Expanded the history post-1950 with additional detail supported by reliable sources

History: 2009–present

  • Combined elements from the Controversy section into history per the structure policy and Criticism essay
  • Reworked these elements to better reflect what sources actually say and better meet WP:NPOV
  • Added elements from Criticism section of the NextEra Energy article more relevant to FPL
  • Combined elements from the Environmental impact section into the appropriate place in the timeline, which makes more sense to me with the information available in appropriate sources than having that information separated under the Environmental impact heading
  • Added additional information related to new power plants and acquisitions where appropriate in the timeline

History: Hurricane response

  • Created new section specifically for hurricane response coverage, based on quantity of sourcing available about this specific topic

Company overview

  • Renamed Power generation section Company overview to give a place to include operational details about the company present in the infobox and introduction
  • Made Power generation a subsection and removed plant headings
  • Reorganized Power generation subsection by means of generation and summarized/amended content to make it as accurate as possible
  • Removed unsourced Pipelines content

Advocacy

  • Created section and moved some content related to lobbying efforts from Controversy to this section
  • Removed content related to actions of Frank Artiles as that is not relevant to FPL
  • Reworded content related to Heardl/Floodlight reporting on 2021 to be more neutral and provide more context

Philanthropy

  • Created section and added content based on information available in reliable sources

Recognition

  • Reworked content to be more neutral and remove peacock peacock terms
  • Added additional awards as supported by appropriate sourcing
  • Updated info related to PA Consulting awards
