Week 7 / zq2197

The first article I edited is the Fourth Industrial Revolution, here is the diff link. I added some economic challenges caused by this industrial revolution.

The second article I edited is the Robot, here is the diff link. I added one more type of industrial robots, robots in food and drinking industry.

From editing these two articles, I learned how the 4IR is reshaping the workforce through the integration of digital, physical, and biological technologies, leading to both job displacement and the creation of new roles. Moreover, it helps me understand the complex interplay between technology, skill requirements, and workforce dynamics in the context of the 4IR and the introduction of robots in lower-skilled jobs. Thanks for replying! Here's the remaining part of the assignment.

My extra credit for Wikipedia was interesting and educational. It was wonderful but challenging to help a platform millions of people utilize for information. Investigating, writing, and following Wikipedia's values helped me to see the need of accuracy and verifiability in public information. I learned a great deal about how Wikipedia operates, particularly the collaborative nature of content creation and the need for reliable sources to support every claim. This experience also enhanced my critical thinking and editing abilities, as I was required to critically evaluate information and present it in a neutral, concise manner. I'm going to keep updating Wikipedia, but with a smaller concentration. Making sure that information is available to others and adding to the body of knowledge are concepts that inspire motivation. However, I am aware of the amount of effort required to make meaningful contributions and the responsibility that comes with changing information on such a popular site. Week7/Swagsberyls

For my Week 7 Wikipedia extra credit assignment, I contributed to two articles: the International Space Station (ISS) [https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=International_Space_Station&diff=prev&oldid=1240192339 diff] and “United States v. Google LLC (2023).”[https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=United_States_v._Google_LLC_(2023)&diff=prev&oldid=1240192333 diff] For the ISS, I added a new section under “Operations” detailing recent challenges with Boeing’s Starliner and NASA’s potential reliance on SpaceX. In the Google case, I integrated updates on the DOJ’s 2024 antitrust ruling, considering remedies like breaking up Google’s business units. This assignment taught me the importance of maintaining neutrality and the value of contributing to a global knowledge base. Sat August 24: Roosevelt Island Wiknic

August 24: Wiknic @ Roosevelt Island

You are invited to the picnic anyone can edit on Roosevelt Island, at Southpoint Park.

Following up on this month's Wikimania in Poland, this Wiknic will have as guest of honor User:DerHexer, the 2024 Wikimedia Laureate of the Year, marking his triumphant North American tour!

Bring a picnic blanket and some potluck, as well as some sunscreen! We'll also provide a little something for everyone, but we encourage you to bring your own favorite dishes to share, especially for those food cultural topics you would like to improve on Wikipedia.

We'll also do a portal thing for a bit with West Coast friends at the WikiLA ocean life edit-a-thon.

All are welcome, new and experienced!
