Introduction[edit]

Hi and welcome. I am glad to see your interest in Bertram, but I don't think you undertand categories. He already has his actual B and D, and 1910 is not his date of birth nor 1914 his death. There are no categories for marriages. It would be good if you could add some more interesting biographical data, as his life is rather thin at the moment. Best regards Motmit (talk) 19:57, 18 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again - to leave a message, all you need to do is edit my talk (discussion) page as you would an article. You can click on it in my sig below. The categories can only apply to the person whom the article is about. If parents and children are notable, they would have their own articles and the birth year categories would go there. If they go on someone else's article it just confuses the category list, so I will remove them again, but encourage you to keep on editing Wiki. It is a little confusing at times, so do not hesitate to ask me for help. Regards Motmit (talk) 13:20, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hi - You are not just allowed to add entries, you are positively encouraged to do so, provided the subject is notable. However new additions are checked and may be deleted if they do not meet the criteria. I have created a redlink for Oliver on his father's page, so all you need to do is click on that and start typing in the edit box BUT -
First take a goodlook at Julius's entry and try to copy the overall layout which means
Include an initial statement that explains why he is notable (and state British/English) - leaving 2 space lines after
Include his birth and date deaths after his name.
Fill out the detail, including as many relevant links as you can - eg Brooklands, John Cobb (motorist). Make sure the grammar is correct
Make sure you include references - which can be books or web sites
Include categories - look up John Cobb (motorist) and copy any categories that are relevant
It is often easier to wok offline in word and then paste the whole lot
Always use the preview to do corrections before saving
Good luck. I look forward to reading about him - Motmit (talk) 14:51, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bertram[edit]

Well done - I have added some internal links and linked the references externally. I don't know much about motor racing, but for one of those odd reasons ended up creating an article for Clive Dunfee. Looks to me as if someone needs to write an article on the Gold Star - It is not permitted to copy text directly from a web site - it has to be rephrased and if possible expanded with other material - but the list can be copied and linked. Looks as if there ought to be an article on the BRDC as well as there does not seem to be one. Regards Motmit (talk) 18:11, 22 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Glad to be of help. I have also back-linked Oliver from Cobb and Stowe. I am going to change some of the references to In Text Citations to show how that is done - however many refs one does, someone comes along and demands these - and put in some other things. Hi - I have added other addresses as you confirmed the Abington one. I strongly suspect that the Pall Mall address refered to the Reform Club, which he would have used for correspondence, but if you know otherwise please restore it. Regards Motmit (talk) 17:04, 26 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Freddie Dixon[edit]

Glad to see you are really into your stride (or should I say top gear) now - Regards Motmit (talk) 19:10, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
