Please Edit Micahbrwn's page!

Hey FastLizard4:
According to a note left by you, you've been assigned to (or you volunteered, whichever) to help with how my page looks. I don't want anything really flashy, but I would like to sort of make my User page look a bit more cool. Maybe instead of having my userboxes all down one side, they could be arranged next to each other in the middle or something. Also, I have attempted to make my userboxes at least follow a common theme when I order them within each category, but if you want to play around with that, please do feel free. And a subtle border or background (that's other than the basic white) would be okay too … so long as it's understated. Oh, by the way: I've noticed that sometimes when I want to add (or rearrange) my userboxes, at times they'll overlap or do something odd. If you can fix that, great!

Also, I'd like the userpage to look relatively consistent — when I access it through Firefox, it looks a bit different than when I access through another browser (like IE or Safari for the Mac, for instance). I don't know if that's because of screen resolution differences between my computer at home and the one at work, but in any case, I'd like the layout to be relatively similar. If you suspect that it's a screen-res issue and not how the layout actually is, then no worries.

As for my Talk page, I'd prefer if the layout of that was left alone — but if you do fool around with the background of my main user page (adding a border, playing with the background color, or whatever), please do the same thing with the Talk page, for consistency's sake. Thanks! --Micahbrwn 04:46, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

P.S. How do I do that red light "{{User:Micahbrwn/Status}}" thingy? Micahbrwn 05:25, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Animal Euthanasia

Please look at the articles history. I was reverting vandalism but the anon reverted her edits in between so I ended up adding them unintentionally. Sorry, Brusegadi 23:49, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Sorry about that, it happens sometimes.

Its ok. Some of these vandals are tricky! Good job! Brusegadi 23:58, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Assistance

Edits you removed from an article by a user adding inappropriate content is continuing within the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Miami. You noted it here [1]. While we are trying to mediate the dispute, I was wondering if you had any further suggestions being a more experienced member of the Wikipedia community? He is also doing similar actions under the John Favalora article...oy. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Aafm 22:00, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

OK. What should now happen is add the {{subst:uw-unsorn|Article name}} as per instructions here (look for Addition of unsourced material without proper citations), replacing n with the number of the template. Elevate as it goes on (replace n with 2, 3, etc.). After the fourth offense, elevate to a vandalism case by adding {{subst:uw-vand4|Article name}}. After leaving this message, if he does the same thing again, report him to the admins. I'd do it myself, but I haven't the time, as I spend a lot of time fighting vandals.
--FastLizard4 (Talk|Contribs) 03:00, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
Noticed that the guy hasn't been seen. The mediator is suggesting we go ahead and move towards full arbitration. We shall see what happens I suppose. Aafm 19:11, 3 August 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:SMS Logo 1.PNG)

Thanks for uploading Image:SMS Logo 1.PNG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:40, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

FYI, admins generally leave each other a fair bit of discretion. You aren't aware of the full situation (since you can't see deleted contributions), so it may not even be best to make an assesment (not that it really hurts anyone). However, if I had felt as you did, I would probably still uphold the block - admins generally will not reverse each others' decisions over a difference of opinions, only when they feel a serious misjudgement has been made or a policy has been violated. In the case of unblocks, a big unknown is also the attitude of the blocked user towards their block and towards the issue that led to their block. (Though I do agree with you that a call for protecting the talk page just for posting another request is a bit much.) Mangojuicetalk 04:00, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Your recent edits

Hi, there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot 01:25, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

User page help

I just wanted to leave a message and say I accept the offer you made to help with my userpage. Thanks again. Anything would be an improvement on the piece of crap I currently have up. I'm sorry if you're seeing this message twice, I glanced over your page and realized I'd put the message in the wrong section. On what I'd like on the page: I was thinking a table (if possible) inside the scrolling column system, so the userboxes aren't spread out all over the place; the status changer; and maybe a page wrapper. For the formatting, maybe just the usual text including hyperlinks. Maybe a few userboxes like: 1: "This user supports recycling"; 2: "this user is against animal abuse but has a severe cockroach phobia"; 3: "This user is a Democrat" 4: "This user is a member of the LDS church" or something. I'd also need a step-by-step, word-for-word guide put there on how to create userboxes and how to code the different colors for them. I don't know squat about HTML code. I know how to type, copy and paste very basic HTML into address bars, but nothing further than that. KellyLeighC 23:40, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

For the colors I want, I was thinking lavender; spring green; deep violet; and kelly green. Purple and green have always been my two favorite colors since I was little; when I was thirteen I asked my mom to paint my room in green and purple, she did it with sponge painting the two colors on a white background and stenciling grape leaves around where the bedroom wall meets the ceiling for a border. :) About the userboxes I mentioned; I came up with some of the ideas off my head; I didn't actually see them in userboxes. But could a userbox be made like the ones I mentioned? KellyLeighC 01:47, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

I think I moved a little too fast or something. I copied and pasted the code for the status changer, and it's showing the text links at the top of my page, but no lights anywhere. I'm going to take that part off and redo it later. KellyLeighC 03:06, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

You sent me an e-mail saying the status changer was supposed to work like that? I just wanted to make sure. Thanks again. :) KellyLeighC 10:42, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure what else I need done on my page. I just don't want it to look crappy. I can't see any colors or anything on it from my end. It just looks like plain text against a white background. KellyLeighC 15:45, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

I've been using Internet Explorer; you mentioned getting Firefox, but is there any risk of getting a virus or anything with Firefox? I accidentally got a virus on my computer once from something; Mom had to send the whole thing back to the company and basically rebuild my memory processor. I thought I'd never get it back; the idiots accidentally sent it to my father because he's the one who bought the computer. I downloaded almost all of my files to a separate disk drive first; when I *finally* got it back, I uploaded the files, but I hate having to do that every time I upload and download a program. Samus Aran

I recently removed the word "female" from the phrase "Samus is a female bounty hunter"; you swiftly reverted this edit. Hear me out: one of the greatest aspects of Samus's character is that her gender has always been purely incidental. The fact that she is a woman has never influenced the plot, objectives, or content of the games beyond rewarding fast players with images of Samus outside of her armored suit at each game's end. Even this, however, has as much to do with revealing her face (Prime, Corruption, Hunters) as displaying her body (Echoes, original NES), and the effect serves to humanize more than feminize. The inclusion of the word "female," then, is as puzzling to Metroid fans as the needless appellation of "male" would be to the heavily armored Master Chief or androgynous Link -- it's clunky, out of place, and adds nothing, and any confusion as to the sex of the character is quickly dispelled by the pronouns that follow. In the end, the word defies the spirit of the series, as to fixate on her gender is to ignore the game designers' intent -- it never mattered whether she was a man or a woman.168.122.252.194 03:19, 5 September 2007 (UTC)

Actually, as defined at Manual-of-Style, the word "female" in the phrase actually does belong. Instead, there should be something that says that this is totally incidental. I would recommend reading MOS before starting style wars.

I'm not going to do anything now because I don't want to violate the 3RR.

Could you please let me know why you have removed all the edits by me on the Trams page. L blue l 05:45, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
OK. I use an algorithmic-based processing system for searching for vandalism, Lupin's Anti-Vandal Tool. Being algorithmic-based, it saw the fact that you took the sections titled "Infrastructure and Equipment", "Tram Stop", "Controls", "Track", and "Power surply" (misspelled) from lv3 headings to simple boldface text, which is, first, not recommended according to MOS, and, second, draws an alert from the algorithm in the tool. Since it only displays the part of the diff that triggers the algorithm, I didn't realize that it was an incomplete edit. Also, I decided that it was a test edit when I noticed the sections were blank, which is considered a positive ID sign to test edits (I also do some work at CSD). Sorry about that, things like that do happen, and I hope to limit that possibility when I get to 250 mainspace edits, allowing me to apply for an advanced AV tool (the last time this happened, one user tried to revert a vandal edit which the vandal reverted, resulting in him putting the vandalism back in the article, and triggering my program, causing me to re-revert the edit and leave a message on his talk page).
Another thing: when I make small, incomplete edits, I tend to use one of my sandboxes or, for new articles I am trying to write, my personal AUD space. It works!
--FastLizard4 (TalkLinksSign) 05:58, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Ok thats fine i will try to make sure i dont trip up the Anti-Vandal tool again. And yes i should of been using a sandbox. When i have completed it i will upload the new version. Also i was only removeing the lv3 heading as all the heading for the trams page takes up to much space and i will continue to do this as it is too long but this will mostlikerly be done at the same time as the other edits. WikiProject Catholicism

Dear Fastlizard4, I am sending this to everyone who edited the Archdiocese of Miami page. I joined the Wikipedia project for Catholicism which can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Catholicism, on that page there are examples of articles that have a good rating. One of the articles is Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago. We can use that as an example to see what kind of info we need to add to the Miami page to make it better. It looks like we need a lot more content especially in the history section. I don't know how to insert pictures but maybe one of the other editors of this page can help with that. I hope you will continue to help make this page a worthwhile article. Thanks, NancyHeise 03:40, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for offering, but the edits I made were mainly cleanups of unsourced information inserted by User:DominvsVobiscvm, who put in allegations of sexual scandals, unsourced. Then, as guidelines told me, I reverted the edits, leaving a note on his talk page, but an edit war ensued. I was involved in the article mainly incidentally. Thanks, though!
--FastLizard4 (TalkLinksSign) 04:07, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

I may have a way to make your life easier...

Hi! I noticed all the people vandalizing your userpage, and I wanted to let you know that you should be able to go to an admin and request permanent semi-protection to prevent vandalism, as I did with my user page. It really does help, and reduces work load (now I just have to worry about my talk page).
--FastLizard4 (TalkLinksSign) 22:40, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

It already has semi-protection... but thanks for the suggestion, anyway. The recent vandals are sleepers or longer-term accounts. Gscshoyru 23:14, 22 September 2007 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but your recent edit removed content from Wikipedia. When removing text, please specify a reason in the edit summary and discuss edits that are likely to be controversial on the article's talk page. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as the text has been restored from the page history. Nice job with the prefix thing :)

I've looked over the instructions and ideas to make userboxes and my brain's just gone blank.

I've looked over the instructions and ideas to make userboxes and my brain's just gone blank. I have no idea how to write html code. I can copy and paste addresses, but I can't write the code itself. If you could copy and paste the codes for some of the the userboxes into a talk message and send it to me I could probably continue that part from there, but as of now, it looks like everything I add'll look like crap. Could you send me some of the codes I need please? if you do I can try to take it from there and add the boxes to my page. Thanks. :) KellyLeighC 01:54, 30 September 2007 (UTC)

Thank you, but I already realized this. :) See, my old one was taken away, so, due to a discussion I made it again, this time with the little arrows, because ...adam... showed me it had to be like that. But, hey, I'd rather have it the way it is now, so if someone gets mad at me again, I'm gonna blame you, alright? haha, just kidding.... - Bagel7T's 03:11, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

I am not really certain where ...adam... came up with that one, I have seen it on hundredsthousands of user pages, they simply link within the wiki. I have never seen policy about that, and, the sources he points to are no longer existent as true policy. In fact, he himself violated the "Don't be a Dick" rule on the very guideline page, if anything. I actually don't mind the trick myself, and I am going to do something else similar to that on my userpage.
--FastLizard4 (TalkLinksSign) 03:22, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
Ok, well, thanks for the heads up, and the help then, I guess. Peace, Bagel7T's 03:29, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

I don't know what happened. I think my brain's gone blank or something. KellyLeighC 00:38, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Just go to the first link I gave you to the tutorial and scroll down to the place where you type in changes, regardless of whatever else you see on the page. That is where the instructions will load. --FastLizard4 (TalkLinksSign) 00:42, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
I don't think a notice template was necessary for removing content from ones own talk page. As the policy states, "Policy does not prohibit users from removing comments from their own talk pages, although archiving is preferred.". Preferred...There is no problem with removing comments, and warning users for doing so isn't quite necessary. See Wikipedia:User page#Removal of comments, warnings. - Rjd0060 15:19, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Re: VP not letting me log in

Hi! I had the same problem when I started up, but I found a remedy. First, I will need to know the following info to help out:

  1. Operating System
  2. Status in your OS (Administrator, User, etc)

Please tell me these 2 things and then I will be able to help out! Thanks! —Signed by KoЯnfan71 My Talk Sign Here! 00:04, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Right. I am running Windows XP SP2 Home using an Administrator account. If it makes any difference, I am running v1.46 of VP.
--FastLizard4 (TalkLinksSign) 03:41, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
Uh...VP's latest version is 1.361 (1.37). You may wish to check out the VP download site before continuing. Ensure you have the latest version (in this case, the one at the bottom of that page). Drop me a line when you know you have the latest version. Thanks! —Signed by KoЯnfan71 My Talk Sign Here! 00:53, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Hmm. Same result.
--FastLizard4 (TalkLinksSign) 01:11, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
But, you do have it? If you do, hold down the shift button, right click the VP137 icon, and click "Run As..." Now, since I run Vista, I can't recall exactly what to do here, but find an option that says something like "Run As Administrator" or like your user account on XP, it may prompt you for a password...I really don't remember, since they changed it all in Vista. See if it works, but, I don't know if it will. —Signed by KoЯnfan71 My Talk Sign Here! 01:15, 25 October 2007 (UTC)
Same result. --FastLizard4 (TalkLinksSign) 01:40, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

OK, I also had the same problem when I started up using it. I would attempt to first contact the person who accepted you just to make sure your name is definitely on the list. You'll just have to see where it goes. I see this kind of bug on the bug reporter all of the time, so this isn't really "out of the ordinary." If you ever seek help again, for this or any other issue, feel free to ask me! I have plenty of time on my hands! I hope this all gets sorted out! —Signed by KoЯnfan71 My Talk Sign Here! 01:46, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

Please Support Wikiproject Godfather FastLizard4

FastLizard4, I am sorry if I am editing this page incorrectly for this is my second time editing a discussion page. I would like you to help me out with creating wikiproject Godfather. It will probably be rejected because of my lack of experience and because of it's scope but if you are interested, please help. Also, do you have a tutorial about editing discussion pages?
Many Thanks
-PAH Page

If you would like to create a project just about the Godfather, it will be rejected almost immediately. It dosen't have a large enough scope. Please read WP:PROJ for more info. As for the warning above, I don't care whether you are my friend or not, but it is my responsibility as a Wikipedian to get you blocked if you do anything harmful to the project, including using fair use images on your userpage. Also, remember to sign your post by using four tildes, like this: ~~~~. As for the tutorial, if you simply read the instruction boxes at the top of my talk page, you will see how it is all done. If you can't be bothered to read these directions or Wikipedia policy (which I assume you haven't read due to your use of fair use images on your userpage), you should leave the project, or take a break and return if you are willing to read the official policies. --FastLizard4 (TalkLinksSign) 05:57, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

Thank You For all of your advise, i will study up on Wikipedia for a while. By next week, i will know everything the average wikipedian should know. Can do, I just need a little time to finish up another user's page (which should only take a few days, at most). In the meantime, tell me what you want changed and I'll get started planning it.

The User boxes could be organized, a neat frame or something for the changeable section would be nice. Maybe one of those user pages that are so complicated that they should come with a user's manual. The best I can think of is do you best and then I'll let you know what needs to be changed or if it is ok. Thank you! Sincerely, Sir Intellegence - smartr tahn eaver!!!! 19:53, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
What colors do you want your userpage to have? (For an example, see User:KellyLeighC/User page/Sandbox, a renovatee's userpage where the changes have not yet been applied). It can pretty much be any color you would like (and I am working on integrating the userboxes with the wrapper). --FastLizard4 (TalkLinksSign) 00:37, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
For fun. . . Let's say the primary colors of light (RGB)! And probably mostly red since it is my favorite color ;). Thank you! Sincerely, Sir Intellegence - smartr tahn eaver!!!! 00:53, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for signing my autograph book!

Happy Halloween!

Cheers! --Zacharycrimsonwolf 06:26, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks! The card is great, but the picture is stinking beyond the colored portion, at least in my window. Oh, well. --FastLizard4 (TalkLinksSign) 06:31, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
Whoops. My apologies, I forgot. Anyway, I've just signed it. By the way, I made an edit to your links section (there was a spelling error) before I noticed the "do not edit here" message. Forgive me. --Zacharycrimsonwolf 09:19, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
That's all right. I should also say "minor edits exempted" at the end of that message, when I say "Please don't edit this page", I mean changing the actual content of the page itself, not minor edits such as grammar and spelling. Thanks for signing! --FastLizard4 (TalkLinksSign) 00:30, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Oh.

Oh, sweet, thanks! -Goodshoped 04:27, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

And is it OK if I "borrow" your "compatible" userpage? I've modified my copy with links to both Mozilla Firefox (better) and Safari (small, but crisp text, and graphics) and a redirect to Mozilla Firefox to get them to WAKE UP PEOPLE! -Goodshoped 02:45, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
By all means! (Heh, I "borrowed" it from this guy who probably "borrowed" it from someone else...) --FastLizard4 (TalkLinksSign) 03:14, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
Oh, OK. Then is it OK if I borrow your long list of warnings? -Goodshoped 05:34, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
I created one you can use as a template! Just go here, scroll down, and read the documentation (it also links to a similar one for the userpage too!) (PS: You beat me to AIV! I don't believe it!) And, as for the invite, I appear to have gotten vandalism instead. --FastLizard4 (TalkLinksSign) 05:40, 6 November 2007 (UTC)
