Q

[edit]

Regarding your request at Q (radio show), just a couple of things you should know: for starters, that article isn't a stub. A stub is an extremely short article, often little more than two or three lines in length, that has one or more Category:Stub templates on it. You'll find plenty of stub articles in Category:Canadian Broadcasting Corporation stubs and/or Category:Canadian radio show stubs, if you have an interest in other CBC topics besides just Q, but since that article isn't a stub editing it probably wouldn't fulfill your assignment as you describe it. (Of course, you can still contribute to it if you wish, but handing that in as your class assignment probably wouldn't get you the mark you're hoping for — in all likelihood you'd need to pick another article that more accurately fits the "stub" description.)

And secondly, the article isn't protected in the first place, so there's no permission that anybody needs to give you — while I obviously wouldn't recommend abusing your privileges, you already have the ability to just walk right in and contribute an edit to nearly any article on Wikipedia without needing any special permission first. If and when there's a page that you can't edit, there'll be an explanation of why you can't, and the edit window will be pink instead of white — and it won't mean that you've personally done anything wrong, it'll just mean that edit privileges on that page have been temporarily restricted to experienced longtime editors due to somebody else's problematic behaviour.

Hope that helps a bit. Bearcat (talk) 00:02, 31 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
