Lionel Portier[edit]

Hi there. I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Lionel portier, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Importance). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree, discuss the issues raised at Talk:Lionel portier. If you remove the {{prod}} template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. --Several Times 18:55, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • It is felt that the article you created at Lionel portier is not suitable for a Wikipedia article, which must have a notable subject and be verifable. I have moved it to User:Felix Portier~enwiki, which is where users are free to write about themselves. You are at liberty to move it back into the (Main) namespace but bear in mind that if you do so, it is likely to be nominated for deletion. As a user page it is likely to survive untouched. -- RHaworth 07:42, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You have recently created the article Lionel portier. This was deleted in accordance with Wikipedia's deletion policies. Please do not recreate the article: if you disagree with the article's deletion, you may ask for a review at Wikipedia:Deletion review. Kimchi.sg 13:57, 24 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My edit[edit]

Felix, I reverted your edit to 2006 FIFA World Cup because it was nothing more than speculation. I saved the page before explaining my edit in the summary, so have out it here. Moriori 23:35, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sussex Inlet[edit]

Hi Felix. I've done some style updates on Sussex Inlet (Jervis Bay Territory). I've also asked a few questions on Talk:Sussex Inlet (Jervis Bay Territory). Are you able to answer them? I also noticed that there are links to French and Spanish versions of the article, but they don't exist. Are you planning to write them soon, or should those links be removed for now? Thanks. --Scott Davis Talk 09:19, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Jervis Bay Territory contributions[edit]

Hi Felix. As you know, Wikipedia should be based on verifiable information. This means that articles such as Cities and Towns in the Jervis Bay Territory need to cite reliable sources. (It also probably shouldn't include the word "cities".) Please do not remove tags requesting sources unless sources are given. Also be careful with your page moves. The convention for Australian towns is that the name is Town, State/Territory, never Town (State/Territory). The original Hyams Beach, New South Wales article was about the town in Shoalhaven Shire, New South Wales. If the town were in the JBT, then the correct name according to the convention would be Hyams Beach, Jervis Bay Territory, not Hyams Beach, Jervis Bay Village and definitely not "Hyams Beach , Jervis Bay Village". However, all the sources and maps that I have seen show the town in New South Wales. You will need to provide references for it being in JBT if you want the page to be moved. Please use edit comments[edit]

Felix, please could you explain your edits with a descriptive edit comment, and also use the preview button so you only need to make one edit with all your changes, instead of multiple edits in quick succession? It makes it easier to understand what you are trying to do. Also, please answer questions on talk pages rather than constantly reverting articles relating to Jervis Bay Territory. Thanks. --Scott Davis Talk 23:33, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Flag image[edit]

Hi Felix. I saw you were having some trouble getting used to the image syntax. Maybe you should look at WP:IMAGES and try something like [[Image:Flag of Chile.svg|thumb|left|Flag of Chile]] or [[Image:Flag of Chile.svg|left|250px]]? Hope this helps. JPD (talk) 17:37, 11 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Previews[edit]

I would like to thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. However, it is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Thanks again. --cj | talk 23:02, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Antarctica - capitals[edit]

Hi Felix, where are you getting your information from regarding state capitals and district capitals in Antarctica? There is no organised government in the Territory so there are no capitals - there aren't even any cities, they are just research bases. -- Chuq 01:34, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sussex Inlet Revisited[edit]

Mr. Portier ... I would ask that you join us in the Talk section of Jervis Bay Territory and present your arguments in favor of Sussex Inlet being considered the territory's capital, as well as located within the territory's boundary. Until you contribute to the discussion, I feel that I will have to (1) revert every change you make to the entry, and (2), if you continue to make these changes, report your actions to a Wikipedia moderator. --Mike Beidler 15:37, 14 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Talk pages[edit]

Hi Felix, I notice you don't seem to reply to any messages left for you. Leaving messages is easy, simply go the the page to discuss, click on the "discussion" tab up the top of the page. From here, it is the same as editing a page - click "edit this page" at the top or the "[edit]" link on the right hand side of the section you want to edit. If you aren't sure, click "edit this page" on this page and write a message just below mine. Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia! You recently added an external link to an external image in an article. It has been removed because the link pointed to a non-encyclopedic source.

Per WP:IMAGES
Images on external sites can no longer be linked inline due to several reasons: inline linking to images on other sites is often considered "leeching" and is thus rude; allowing online image linking makes it easier for vandals to post images from shock sites; external images are often unreliable and may sometimes be removed by the webmasters.

Please refer to Wikipedia's policy on external links for more information.

Image licensing[edit]

Could you please explain why you think some of the images you have uploaded (including but possibly not limited to Image:Women's fiel hockey chile vs australia.jpg, Image:Las leonas vs India.jpg, Image:Australia vs USA footy.jpg and Image:Laura summerton runing.jpg) are licensed under the GFDL as you have claimed? They all appear to be images taken directly from official sites on the Web. Cheers --Pak21 10:05, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have now listed Image:Australia vs USA footy.jpg and Image:Laura summerton runing.jpg at Wikipedia:Copyright problems as below. Please do not just ignore the messages people are leaving on your talk page: they represent serious problems with the images you have uploaded. You should also note that providing deliberate misinformation about the copyright status of images is considered vandalism and could get you blocked from editing Wikipedia if you continue. --Pak21 13:06, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Further: DO NOT remove the listings from Wikipedia:Copyright problems as you just did. Doing so is definitely vandalism and will get you blocked if you continue. --Pak21 13:10, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I will give you 2 hours to remove the photos from the Field hockey article, before I revert your re-addition of them. Saying they cannot be used anywhere other than Wikipedia is not enough to prevent them being a copyright violation. Please look at Wikipedia:Image use policy to understand what images can be used on Wikipedia. David Underdown 13:37, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop[edit]

The field hockey images you have added are not logos. You were warned earlier that continuing to provide false image licensing information could be considered to be vandalism. You've now tried to add them into an article which is just a redirect - there is no difference between men's and women's field hockey, so we don't need a separate article. Iam going to refer your actions to the Adminstrators at WP:AN/I in the hope that they can convince you that you're on the wrong track. David Underdown 09:53, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No we may well not need a separate article for women's basketball either - though in that case there are still a few differences in rules which might make sufficient case for a separate article, but in that case it's up to the editors of those articles to decide how they want to organise things. Hockey is (now) played to exactly the same rules by both sexes (and mixed games are not uncommon in the UK at least), and the existing articlecovers play by both sexes adequately. David Underdown 10:09, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No, I'm not an admin so I can't actually delete anything - you've just forgotten your original mis-spelling when you uploaded that image. David Underdown 10:19, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Felix, as we discussed before, there really is no need for Women's Field Hockey to be anything other than a redirect to Field hockey. If you have references for the info you added, please put a summary in Field hockey#History and a fuller version in History of field hockey. As I've mentioned at Talk:Women's Field Hockey if at any stage there is a consensus at Talk:Field hockey to split off a separate article on the women's game, it should in any case be at Women's field hockey according to the manual of style. Images[edit]

Dear Felix,
We appreciate your efforts, but we cannot accept images copied from other websites as they are copyrighted. Tagging such images as free to use - GFDL or logo - is not acceptable and if you continue to do so, it will be seen as vandalism. Please read up on copyright law before you upload any more images. - Mgm|(talk) 12:39, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I only deleted images that had no source/copyright information or were incorrectly tagged as a logo or GFDL. - Mgm|(talk) 13:23, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your question.[edit]

Hello, are images from this site [1] are possible to download? Thanks Felix Portier Friday, 24 November 2006 2:55 PM (UTC)

  • No, the images on that page were taken from the SWAFL website which has a blurry, but otherwise readable copyright notice on the bottom. Them taking those pictures violates copyright law especially if they allow people to order copies from them. - Mgm|(talk) 08:25, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Images 2[edit]

The license information was for the software used to display the photographs. You could try to obtain permission to use the images by emailing the address at http://womensfooty.com/arizona/ with a request for permission. - Mgm|(talk) 12:42, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Youth girls logo.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Youth girls logo.gif. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fritz S. (Talk) 11:02, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Images[edit]

You have been warned about uploading images and lying about their copyright status before. Uploads such as this - Image:Image-Vic vs WA ruck2.jpg, where you tagged the image as GFDL despite it being a clear copy vio from http://www.vwfl.org.au/default.aspx?s=genericnewsdisplay&kw=57&aid=110170 are NOT acceptable. I have blocked you for one month, to prevent you from breaching further copyrights.

Consider this a final warning - any further flagrant breaking of copyright will result in a permanent ban. Proto::type 12:26, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Felix Portier! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot notifying you on behalf of the the unreferenced biographies team that 2 of the articles that you created are currently tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 944 article backlog.
