Botch sandbox work

I liked your sandbox for the development of Botch into a GA or FA class article, It's coming along very well. Just thought I'd help you out since I found this source for Rock Sound's list 101 Modern Classic albums which puts We Are the Romans at number 35. I've been using this generic template bellow for articles reception sections (an example is Somewhere at the Bottom of the River Between Vega and Altair#Reception). I figured since you're planning to contribute to the article so much I'd just leave it with you. Also the citation is filled in.

In 2012, British publication Rock Sound added A's album B into their 101 Modern Classics placed at number 51. They considered the album more of a classic than C's D and F's G. Stating that "H"[1] Jonjonjohny (talk) 22:18, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

I started working on that project in April 2011. I literally glace at my sandbox a few times a week and tell myself, "Today is going to be the day I finally put the finishing touches on this page." But nothing ever happens, haha. Thank you very much for finding this link! I will definitely add it to the article! Fezmar9 (talk) 06:22, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

I'm glad it is helpful in some way. Just looking through the sandbox, I was curious what is the help page that you use to cite a journal by its different pages? (i.e. the structuring between Bibliography & Footnotes) Jonjonjohny (talk) 13:18, 31 July 2012 (UTC)

Since I last read it over a year ago, I forget which specific documentation I used. But I think either Wikipedia:Citing sources/Further considerations#Wikilinks to full references or Template:Citation/doc#Anchors for Harvard referencing templates should help. To my knowledge, there is no official/uniform/preferred way of separating footnotes and references; many FA and GA articles title and organize these sections completely differently. I think I tried to model my rewrite of Botch after Slipknot (band), but The Chariot (band) is organized slightly differently. Both of these articles have been promoted to GA. Put Me Out single

Hello, how are you? I joined wikipedia after some usage and learning of the site to try to add my input and inprove some pages that I knew were missing some information. I noticed you removed that I added "put me out" by The Used from the single list. Although they made a video for it, they also released it with its own 'single' artwork cover and its recieved airplay on the radios across the USA which makes it a proper single. You can see all this information here: http://www.91x.com/pages/newmusic?The-Used---Put-Me-Out=1&blockID=624659&feedID=7098 and much more information confirming it is a single by a simple google search of the used put me out single. I believe that fully makes it legit to be added to the list unless I may be miss interpeting something? Thank you Fez for the help. Tampsellie (talk) 15:26, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

A digital image of artwork doesn't necessarily indicate a single. I know that on Converge's albums Jane Doe and Axe to Fall, every individual song had it's own artwork, yet none of them were released as singles. I can find artwork for Sleigh Bells' "Demons" and "Born to Lose" online, yet neither of them were released as singles. A "simple google search," as you recommended, actually seems to suggest this image stems from some girl's tumblr a couple of months ago. This might not even be an official cover for anything—just a fan drawing.
And I've heard tons of songs on the radio that were never released as singles—some stations get special permission to play whatever songs off of an album they want. The source you have provided doesn't indicate "Put Me Out" is being played nationally as most true singles are, only locally at that one station. What also I don't see is anyway to obtain the song independent of the album, which is what truly makes a single a single. When you added this single to Vulnerable's article, you claimed it already came out last month (July 2012). Yet I don't see anywhere to obtain this so-called single through the typical digital means (iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, etc.) nor can I find evidence it was released in a physical 7" or CD medium through the band's webstore or any other site.
Until there's evidence of "Put Me Out" being played on the radio nationally, such as a Billboard rank or a published article stating the song was released on the radio, or some sort of way to obtain the "Put Me Out" independent of the album either digitally or physically, this song really doesn't qualify as a single. I will find that one for you too. Tampsellie (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 19:05, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
http://radicalxchange.com/category/the-used/ http://loudwire.com/in-this-moment-vs-the-used-cage-match/ I have not found the interview yet but I am working on it :). Tampsellie (talk) 19:07, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
I found the interviews: http://sg.sports.yahoo.com/blogs/sound-check/used-cancels-canadian-tour-dates-border-ban-170552836.html and http://concerttour.org/criminal-record-forces-the-used-to-cancel-canadien-tour-leg.php ...this is good now, correct? Thanks. Tampsellie (talk) 04:51, 12 August 2012 (UTC)
A single is a type of music release no different than an album. It has its own release date, track listing, cover art, catalog number, etc. For examples, here are The Used's "I Come Alive", "Blood on My Hands" and "Hands and Faces" on Amazon. The band can call "Put Me Out" whatever they want in interviews, but that doesn't make it a single. In fact, the definition has become rather tainted since the rise of the internet and many songs are erroneously referred to as singles on a daily basis. But if "Put Me Out" is receiving airplay across the nation, then it probably qualifies as a promotional recording. Fezmar9 (talk) 15:38, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

Deftones and post-metal

Hi there, I wandered into the discussion at Talk:Deftones about the inclusion of "post-metal" in the infobox, and like most everyone, I object to its inclusion. Are you still involved in the discussion? If so, you might want to read the points I have raised. At this point the consensus seems to be in favor removing post-metal, as there is only one editor pushing for its inclusion in spite of repeated objections. WesleyDodds (talk) 09:56, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

I really considered this to be my final contribution. The entire discussion consisted of multiple editors providing a logical argument, and Trascendence either not understanding or disagreeing. He clearly won't budge. At this point I think the consensus is clear and post-metal should be removed without continuing the discussion. If Trascendence reverts, then he is acting against the consensus and should receive a temporary block for his actions. Fezmar9 (talk) 04:46, 13 August 2012 (UTC)

Mathcore and TFoT

I get that you can't call TFoT pioneers because of the decade between bands. However, I don't think it's fair to include The Dillinger Escape Plan as a viable pioneer either. They formed in 1997, and that's roughly 6 years before TFoT. Look, even if you can't include them in being pioneers of the genre, I'd at least like to see them somewhere in the article. They were a pretty big influence on the genre, and they made some really good music in the time they were active. Also, I'd like to request a JLV article, but I'm not sure where to go with that. The Articles for Request page is....confusing. 152.26.228.42 (talk) 12:59, 7 September 2012 (UTC)

First, you should check out Wikipedia's policy on verification. In the opening paragraph it states: "Wikipedia does not publish original research. Its content is determined by previously published information rather than by the personal beliefs or experiences of its editors. Even if you're sure something is true, it must be verifiable before you can add it." Because there is a published source stating that Dillinger Escape Plan was a pioneer of the genre, this information is now verifiable through the proper means and is thus fair for inclusion. If you would like to include anything about The Fall of Troy to mathcore, please also provide a source to back up your claims. But sources aside, I'm not sure The Fall of Troy really fit in the mathcore category since mathcore is metal-based genre, which they don't really play.
I assume by JLV you mean Just Like Vinyl? It looks like an article was speedily deleted a little over a year ago, which means the article was so obviously not notable that its deletion process should avoid a community discussion prior to deletion. Under those circumstances, you might have to try a little harder to prove notability to prevent a quick second deletion. Honestly, the requested articles typically get overlooked and ignored for a long, long time before anyone considers creating an article. I'd recommend collecting at least 4 published and authoritative sources on Just Like Vinyl (assuming there are at least four out there) and just start the article yourself. Fezmar9 (talk) 18:13, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
I've viewed TFoT's page, and while the template notes it is missing sources, it still states the genre is mathcore. Which I do take to be true.

As for JLV, I'll get started on that soon enough. I'm a little busy on another wiki as it is, but I feel like they do need some recognition, as they have two studio albums out, and they've had multiple interviews and media coverage. Sure, they aren't the biggest band, but they're getting somewhere. Thank you for your time. 173.22.66.174 (talk) 20:25, 7 September 2012 (UTC)

Deftones

Hey, I've only just now notice this edit you made that was reverted by Trascendence. I checked the talk page and I don't see any editor agreeing to remove nu metal like he said (I certainly didn't). Just him deciding that consensus was gained and that he would rather remove nu metal than add post-metal (for now if his comments are any indication). All he could cite now is WP:SILENT but there isn't any consensus on the talk page for what he reverts. =\ HrZ (talk) 16:54, 18 September 2012 (UTC)

I should also state, the thought of another discussion and going in circles again isn't all that appealing though! HrZ (talk)
After seeing this though, I think we might have to open a discussion... Fezmar9 (talk) 08:57, 20 September 2012 (UTC)
I can imagine that is going to be his response to any changes made. Yeah, looks like there will have to be another discussion. =\ HrZ (talk) 16:07, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

A little reminder

I see you lack knowledge about what a consensus is, let me show you. This is in the introduction paragraph of the Wikipedia:Consensus policy:

"Consensus on Wikipedia does not mean unanimity (which, although an ideal result, is not always achievable); nor is it the result of a vote. Decision-making involves an effort to incorporate all editors' legitimate concerns, while respecting Wikipedia's norms."

So it really doesn't matter if one or two editors disagrees with me, bacause i'm the only one who have presented sources (seven) to prove my piont, if you disagree with me, don't just revert saying "consensus is against you" because you clearly don't even know what consensus is. I (again) started a discussion in deftones' talk page, found sources, present them there, and then we will reach a consensus ok? Trascendence (talk) 00:13, 23 October 2012 (UTC)

Hello I am wondering why you did not just merge it without creating AFD? Thank you, MarioNovi (talk) 05:41, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

Simply merging the article on my own could easily be objected. I sought to obtain consensus among the Wikipedia community to make sure I wasn't alone in believing the article didn't meet notability guidelines. Fezmar9 (talk) 05:52, 3 April 2013 (UTC)

Sleigh Bells

I am not vandalizing the Sleigh Bells page. I am adding the correct singles. I sourced articles to the page. It is very obvious these songs are singles. I don't understand why you don't choose to believe correct information or why you choose to care so much but please stop. I'm just trying to add the correct singles to the Sleigh Bells album page. Demo (Deafheaven album)

Hello,
I was thinking that this article could be renamed as Untitled Deafheaven demo or Untitled Deafheaven EP, rather than Demo (Deafheaven album), because it gives a false impression that the album is actually titled as Demo. I wanted to consult you about this as you are the creator of the article. Thank you. Myxomatosis57 (talk) 21:58, 5 December 2013 (UTC)

I am completely open to changing the article name. When it comes to giving an article a descriptive title, I totally fail. It was hard to come up with a title because some sources actually believed the album to be called "DEMO" -- including the band's management label, Sargent House. The label doesn't seem to archive press releases, but here's a copy of the press release for the remaster of the demo[1] which states "Deafheaven's debut from 2010 simply called Demo has been remastered by Jack Shirley and is getting a proper vinyl release..." On Allmusic, the discography calls it "Demo"[2] while the biography acknowledges that it's an untitled demo ep[3]. The band's bandcamp calls it just "demo"[4] and so do other wiki-style discography websites[5][6]. While I see that there are sources that acknowledge that it's untitled and others that believe it's actually called Demo, I went with WP:COMMONNAME because it seemed like there were more sources that referred to it as Demo than sources that referred to it as untitled. But I was never terribly confident in that choice. I would not object if you wanted to change it to Untitled Deafheaven demo. Fezmar9 (talk) 00:05, 6 December 2013 (UTC)

Please communicate

Hey, How you doing? Most times I try to help edit this site my edit is undone. I understand that there are many rules with it so I am perfectly fine with you teaching me something new so I could learn but please communicate with me as well. Simply reverting my edit when I made a minor mistake on it does not always make things better. If you cmmunicate with me, I could read more into the polices and make it as per policy standards. This is in response to undoing and most my edits on The Used. I think I have corrected it to policy standard but please talk to me for future purpose so more info could be added the right way.
