Hello Finchwake, I was ecstatic to see the photo of Mordecai Carey. Thank you! I never dreamt one existed! I am a descendant of Mordecai and his wife, Catherine Courthorpe, and we have no Harriet E Cary recorded on our tree. Where does she fit in? I am descended through Archdeacon Henry & Mary Deering/Dering; through their son Capt William Cary who married Henrietta Brocas. Their son, Rev Henry Francis Cary (translator of Dante) married Jane Ormsby. Their son, Rev/Judge Henry Cary married Isabella Charlton Dawson and emigrated to Australia where there are many descendants. I recently visited Lambeth Palace, where Mordecai was ordained, and was given a tour with specific reference to the places he would have known. Hello Finchwake, I found Harriet E Cary - she was the daughter of Vigors Cary, who was son of Annesley, who was son of Capt Henry who married Ann Gore. Henry was son of Archdeacon Henry who married Mary Deering, and the Archdeacon was the son of Mordecai. We have an extensive family tree and story and would be very happy to share it with your friend to save him the trouble of duplicating what we have already done. We are in Australia.
