Peer review of Untitled from Marilyn Monroe by Andy Warhol[edit]

I peer reviewed Untitled from Marilyn Monroe by Andy Warhol. I'd appreciate it if you could peer review Indiggo. The link for the peer review is Wikipedia:Peer review/Indiggo/archive1. I know you're new to Wikipedia. I'd just like you to read Indiggo and give me your impressions.

One of the criteria for Featured Articles is "occasionally brilliant" prose. If you can see improvements, please suggest them. Comprehensiveness is another criteria. If there are questions left unanswered about the topic, I'd like to hear about it.

I've given your article a very thorough review. I was intrigued by the fact you asked for a review of your first article. I went ahead and gave your article a copy-edit. (I recently did one for the Guild of Copy Editors. Requesting one from them would be a good way to get another experienced editor to look at your article. They're good about doing the job within 20 days.)

Getting peer review is more problematic. The instructions suggest swapping, which is what I've done with my article. User:Genericusername57 gave me a peer review, so I returned the favor. I also did a peer review for a second editor and am currently doing one for a third editor. You might check the other Arts articles that are seeking peer review and see if any are about an art work. That editor would be familiar with the appropriate templates for art works. My article is about a musical band.

Consider my edits as suggestions. It was easier for me to edit than to specify what I want. It is even easier to change things back. Just copy and paste from a previous revision. If you have any questions or comments, you can post them here. Your tone is generally okay. Avoid words like "sorrowful" and "infamous". They violate neutral point of view. "Controversial" is okay because it is factual.

There may be guidelines in a wiki project covering art works that applies to format.

Of all the sections, your "analysis" section seemed the most essay-like. I don't have an account with jstor, so I can't tell if you've done original research. It is okay if the sources say it. It is not okay if you read the sources and draw conclusions. WP:No original research. I had difficulty understanding what you were saying and I've been to some Andy Warhol exhibits.

For media captions, I inherited mine, so I haven't done any yet. In any case, I wouldn't be familiar with articles about art works. Ditto about templates or format styles for articles about art works. I think most of the spacing out and blocky style was due to excessive words. I've tried to cut out words without significantly changing the meaning. My article got a copy-edit from the Guild of Copy Editors. I added back some words where they went too far. Do the same for if I went too far. I did add subsection headings where there seemed to be a natural dichotomy. I looked to do the same thing in the "Analysis" section, but it there was no natural division I could see.

The main topic is the art work. I suspect the "History/Influence" and "Analysis" sections need to be sorted. The third paragraph of the "History/Influence" paragraph seems to be analysis. The first sentence of the "Analysis" section seems to be history/influence. Perhaps, your sections should be:

  1. description and creation of work (incorporating technique)
  2. description of artist (parts of history)
  3. description of subject
  4. critical comments (include analysis)
  5. commercial reception (prices)

I hope this has been helpful. Vyeh (talk) 09:29, 24 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

User:Vyeh Thank you so much for editing my first article, your edits were extremely helpful and gave me an idea of where I should be headed with Untitled from Marilyn Monroe by Andy Warhol. I'll attempt to review your article Indiggo to the best of my abilities (still quite new to Wikipedia), and note down a few suggestions in the next few days, sorry about the delay Fisa2702 (talk) 01:25, 9 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
