August 2009[edit]

If you have a close connection to some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. Hell In A Bucket (talk) 15:46, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope that I don't seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy for the following reason: As is this would be a promotional username while editing Frank Camper articles. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here?

I'd appreciate learning your views, for instance, your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.

There are several options available to you:

  • We can talk about it, here.
  • You can abandon the contributions made under this name and create a new account that meets our username policy and addresses the concern(s) noted above.
  • Or, if you want to keep your contributions history under a new name, then you should visit Wikipedia:Changing username and follow the instructions there.

If we can't resolve this on our own, we can ask for help through Wikipedia's dispute resolution process, such as requesting comments from other Wikipedians. Wikipedia administrators usually abide by agreements reached through this process. Thanks. Hell In A Bucket (talk) 15:47, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just in case.....[edit]

If you are really Frank Camper, I gotta say I love your books, so please don't take these warnings personally. We do have policies as indicted above from anyone adding or modifying articles that are about themselves or they are closely connected to in attempts to maintain nuetraility. It's very important to make sure things are properly associated with a reliable 3rd party source and in honesty the publishing site is very borderline as it is clearly not a nuetral venue. Other then that I would like to welcome you to the project!Hell In A Bucket (talk) 15:53, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Your Email[edit]

I'm the original author (I do not however control or "own" the article. wp:own). I have no problems clearing up any inaccuracies that are on there and would prefer to! The things we have to make sure is that it fails within the guidelines within the project. For example for it to be included we have to make sure is that comes from 3rd party and reliable sourcing. Any information you have from third party sources (wp:rs), ie Newspapers, Radio etc, would help a long way in not only sourcing correctly but fleshing out the article. The policies are really strict within that sense because even though you are Frank Camper and can clear anything up that we need it still has to be published by a third party or it fails under Original Research WP:ORIGINAL and also not permitted. I know sometimes this can be a pain but is only done to attempt nuetraility and credibility for the project.Hell In A Bucket (talk) 18:52, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
