Hi,
I have noticed that the article on VPIN has not been deleted yet.
Nobody has opposed to the deletion after more than a week. I suggest we go ahead and delete it.

- It's only just a week - it's in Category:Proposed deletion as of 25 August 2014, that whole category will flag as ready in 40 minutes. Ronhjones (Talk) 23:20, 1 September 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you, Ronhjones (Talk). Being new to Wikipedia, I'm unfamiliar with this procedure. The article was proposed for deletion 8 days ago, that's why I'm confused. I have visited your user page (which is amazing!), and I have seen that you have deleted almost 29,000 pages. I assume that you have the power to delete VPIN as well? - It has to be 7 full days, hence they "should" get done on the 8th day - if there are enough admins, with some time, to go through the category deleting the pages that should be deleted (and their talk pages), so it does sometimes drag on - there seems to be backlogs everywhere at present - maybe all the other admins have gone on holiday... It will get sorted tonight - that's a "UK tonight", now 7:30pm here :-) Ronhjones (Talk) 18:35, 2 September 2014 (UTC)

Please forgive my ignorance on how this thing works, I'm only beginning to understand how Wikipedia operates: I saw that you moved the article out of PROD and into AfD. Does it mean that the week the PROD notice remained in place does not count, and another week must pass before the article is considered for deletion? Nobody opposed the deletion, so I assume that kind of settles the discussion... Thanks! --Fkswe25 (talk) 19:44, 2 September 2014 (UTC)
- Sadly yes. PRODs are really designed (although there is no hard and fast rule) for poor articles - no refs, not notable, often fairly new, etc. - which is usually obvious when we go for a delete (remember we probably know nothing about the subject). When confronted with a rather long and elderly page with lots of refs (i.e in this case 35000 bytes, >2years, 26 refs), it makes it difficult to be sure it's not really wanted (hey, at least 2% of articles I've deleted by a PROD are asked to be put back!). With a lost creator, no-one will know of the PROD until it vanishes. The AfD is far more reaching - automatic bots should post notices in other places according to the WikiProjects on the talk page. Also once deleted by an AfD - then it's not easy to get undeleted. Ronhjones (Talk) 20:53, 2 September 2014 (UTC)
