Disambiguation link notification for January 22

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Ellie Brush, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Princes Park (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Nicknames

Hey mate,

I noticed you've edited a few articles' leads, citing WP:NICKNAME. As I see it, the policy refers to the articles' titles, not their leads. Am I misunderstanding it? Jjamesryan (talk | contribs) 02:12, 21 February 2018 (UTC)

Hey Jjamesryan, it's a mixture of WP:NICKNAME, WP:ALTNAME and MOS:FULLNAME and following the work that has been done other editors i.e. [1], so I'll probably tag all now in the edit summaries (the ones I've seen previously have used WP:NICKNAME in the edit summary, so I'll use all for better clarification). Also from what I've seen on popular pages, i.e. Bill Clinton is a good example (William Jefferson Clinton (born.....)). In hindsight, Nat Exon's should be Natalie Exon (born.....) so I'll make fixes to those ones I've already done. Thanks, Flickerd (talk) 02:26, 21 February 2018 (UTC)
Yes, that's what I was referring to. On Schache's page, the lead was changed to only include the full name and not the nickname, whilst yours did the opposite, but I see you've fixed it now. Thanks! Jjamesryan (talk | contribs) 05:19, 21 February 2018 (UTC)

NTFL

Hey mate,

Happy to help with the various pages surrounding the NTFL, I follow the league quite closely as a commentator and reporter and I'd love to see the page grow. I've done a few anonymous updates here and there but I have an account now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kdavva74 (talkcontribs) 05:31, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

Hi @Kdavva74:, that's fantastic, they're definitely in need of updating but I haven't found time to do so and expand them. Thanks! Flickerd (talk) 08:55, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

AFLW training

I don't think you're right about AFLW players training "2-3 times per week." Their contract has pre-season training an average 13 hours a week with a weekly maximum capped at 15 hours, in-season 10 hours per week, and this is just their structured training with the club, not including what they do in their own time.[2] "2-3 times per week" is what an average suburban or country footballer trains, and a person can't train productively for 13 hours in only 2 or 3 sessions per week. Mo Hope said she trained twice a day in the off-season (interview aired during game). Katie Brennan lifts three times per week, runs three times per week, and this doesn't include skills sessions.[3] Also consider that they play state league in the "off season" from AFLW. You're correct that they're not all fully professional, but your training expectations are unrealistically low. If a person isn't training once or twice a day, six days a week in the off-season and pre-season, and four or five days per week during the season (five or six if they aren't making the team), they just won't cut it in the top tier. Jack N. Stock (talk) 13:48, 19 March 2018 (UTC)

I meant official club training which is only 2-3 times a week, not when each individual player decides to do their own program. I do have direct involvement with AFLW so I do have an understanding of what's required (remember not everyone writes edit summaries like it's the gospel truth with every detail of the edit explained and many summarise to fit the finite space). Thanks, 14:22, 19 March 2018 (UTC)
I just don't want a deletionist with a lot of spare time to see "semi-pro training a couple of times a week" and challenge 300 AFLW player articles in AfD. I know they would all pass GNG, but it would be a ton of work! Jack N. Stock (talk) 03:36, 20 March 2018 (UTC)

Rockhampton Brothers Australian Football Club PROD

If you can please stop threatening deletion of articles for no reason, and trying to cover it up by saying I "Shouldn't be offended" (a blatant excuse to cover up offence and even censor people who actually take the time to do these things) it would be much appreciated. When I get some time to add information to other clubs in the region I will be able to add information.

Firstly, I'm not sure when I said you "shouldn't be offended" as the message on your talk page was automated and never used those words. Secondly, please have a read of WP:Notability and WP:Independent. Wikipedia has guidelines for what articles are appropriate for the site, and despite your belief of this situation, nominating for deletion is not a personal attack, it's to keep in line with Wikipedia's guidelines and policies. I will give you some time to improve the article with independent refs, if they haven't been made and notability cannot be established, then the page will be WP:AFD. Melbourne's biggest non-Queen's Birthday crowd in a long time?

Hi,

As you may know, Melbourne's next game is against Richmond and it is their home game, which (disregarding the terrible loss to Hawthorn today), if past years and results in the Anzac Eve matches are anything to go by, has the potential to draw a crowd of upwards to 70-80K.

Given the Tigers are the reigning premiers, I believe that such a large crowd would make this Melbourne's biggest home crowd outside of its annual Queen's Birthday clash against Collingwood (which it has contested since 2001) for a very long time. 85K attended the corresponding match (a Richmond home game on a Monday night) last year.

This year's Anzac Eve match is a Tuesday night, but I don't think this will impact the attendance in nine days' time.

Your thoughts please? MasterMind5991 (talk) 10:54, 15 April 2018 (UTC)

Hi MasterMind5991, sorry I totally forgot to reply to this. I agree that the fact the game is on a Tuesday night won't impact the crowd because it is a public holiday the next day which means it isn't a work/school night. I think unfortunately due to Melbourne's insipid effort against Hawthorn (I'm still not over it haha) that will probably reduce the crowd by about 10,000, i.e. I reckon if Melbourne won it could have been around 85-90,000, but I reckon there'll be some Melbourne supporters who will be so annoyed by Melbourne's effort last week that they won't want to potentially watch another effort like that against the reigning premiers. I'm not sure how big the crowd will be but it's definitely turning into a marquee game and I reckon some neutral supporters may go just because it's a big game. If it will be bigger than the Queen's Birthday game, I'm not 100% sure as Collingwood aren't going too badly this year, so if both sides are doing well I could see it going above 75,000 like it did in 2011. I'm expecting about 70-75,000 for Anzac eve. Flickerd (talk) 04:39, 18 April 2018 (UTC)
I also think the Queen's Birthday clash, which is the major highlight of Melbourne's AFL fixture, can draw another large crowd if both the Pies and Dees keep up their good form (last week's loss to the Hawks aside). The Dees-Tigers game is, to the best of my memory, the first match to be scheduled for a Tuesday night (apart from the match between Essendon and St Kilda in 1996 which had to be completed in this timeslot due to a lighting failure on the preceding Saturday night) for a very long time.
Also, some trivia: next year, the Anzac Eve match (Richmond's home game in 2019) will fall on a Wednesday night and it would make sense for it to start the round, as was the case in 2015 (Friday night). The Essendon vs Collingwood match would then be held on the Thursday afternoon and would thus be the second match in the round. Assuming the Anzac Eve match is retained until 2025, that will be the next year the match falls on a Thursday night. MasterMind5991 (talk) 10:54, 18 April 2018 (UTC)
