Unspecified source for Image:0403 hilary duff b-1-.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:0403 hilary duff b-1-.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:58, 9 May 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 00:58, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image:Normal lq014-1-.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Normal lq014-1-.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla 00:59, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did to Elle Fanning, you will be blocked from editing. --Yamla 01:10, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Miley-cyrus com-hannahmontana-season2promo1-149-1-.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Miley-cyrus com-hannahmontana-season2promo1-149-1-.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

Answer to your question[edit]

Basically all the images you've uploaded look copyrighted to me. That means you cannot upload them to Wikipedia. The bots above are telling you that you didn't provide the correct tag (it's an option when you upload) but it's irrelevant. If you grabbed these images from websites, those websites own the copyright to those images (or they bought the permission to use them on their website from the photographer.) That means, simply, that you should not upload them to Wikipedia or they will be deleted. There's more to it, but you seem to be asking for a straightforward answer and that's pretty much it. Cheers. BTW, if you have questions it's easy to either add the {{helpme}} tag to your talk page or just ask someone directly on their talk page. But I noticed your fresh question "THEN WHERE DO U GET THE PIX FOR ALL THOSE PAGES?" and I have a simple answer: we often don't. Wikipedia is not copyrighted, it's licensed under the GFDL which basically means that pretty much anyone can use or copy its content if they don't make other people pay for it. For that reason we absolutely cannot take copyrighted material and use it on the site. Not only would we be stealing it, we would also be essentially giving it away. Many articles do not have photos for this reason. Others have snapshots taken by contributors. There may be better photos out there, but they are not available to us because they are copyrighted. There are some complicated ways to acquire licensed images for Wikipedia, but I would suggest you spend a lot more time editing before you delve into them. Cheers. Speedy deletion of Bridgit Mendler[edit]

A tag has been placed on Bridgit Mendler, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per speedy deletion criterion A7.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. LAX(Band)[edit]

A tag has been placed on LAX (Musical Singing Group) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Thedarxide (talk) 13:53, 13 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

January 2008[edit]

When adding links to material on an external site, as you did to List of Hannah Montana episodes, please ensure that the external site is not violating the creator's copyright. Linking to websites that display copyrighted works is acceptable as long as the website's operator has created or licensed the work. Knowingly directing others to a site that violates copyright may be considered contributory infringement. This is particularly relevant when linking to sites such as YouTube, where due care should be taken to avoid linking to material that violates its creator's copyright. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you believe the linked site is not violating copyright with respect to the material, then you should do one of the following:

  • If the linked site is the copyright holder, leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page;
  • If a note on the linked site credibly claims permission to host the material, or a note on the copyright holder's site grants such permission, leave a note on the article Talk page with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you are the copyright holder or the external site administrator, adjust the linked site to indicate permission as above and leave a note on the article Talk page;

If the material is available on a different site that satisfies one of the above conditions, link to that site instead. NrDg 00:43, 11 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
