Student Research

Hi Forbesy 777,

I am a student researcher at Carnegie Mellon University working in the Social Computing lab. Our group has done significant past research on Wikipedia (i.e., see http://kittur.org/research.html and http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~kraut/ RKraut.site.files/pubs/articles.html#OnlineCommunities) and are currently interested in learning how to help newcomers contribute to this amazing community. To do this we would like to understand more about how new Wikipedia editors make sense of articles when editing them for the first time.

Based on your up-and-coming interest in editing Wikipedia, we would really like to ask you some questions about why you chose to start editing Wikipedia and the processes you use to edit Wikipedia. If you are interested please go to http://cmu.qualtrics.com/SE?SID=SV_3r7S9zg3OMw7eMk&SVID=Prod. We would really appreciate your help.

All the best, Jaclyn Dolphin887654 (talk) 02:47, 25 February 2010 (UTC)

Austar channel list

Please do not re-add the Terrestrial section like you did here, these are not Austar channels and everyone can pick-up these channels with a set-top box. Bidgee (talk) 10:43, 7 August 2010 (UTC)

To whom it may concern, I apologise about me adding this section but i believed it should be included on the Austar Channels page as on the Foxtel Channels page the channels are included on different EPG numbers and it should be shown that the channels are also available to Austar subscribers but on different EPG numbers. Please reply with a means of which we could include these channels onto the page as they should be included. Forbesy 777 (talk) 05:08, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:MTVNLive.gif

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:MTVNLive.gif. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 04:12, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:MTVNLive.gif

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:MTVNLive.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk 03:32, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

The non-free image File:Disney Junior Logo.png was recently restored to Disney Junior (Australia and New Zealand) by you after it have been removed for failure of our non-free content criteria policy, specifically item #10c which requires a "separate, specific non-free use rationale for each use of the item". The image still fails the 10c policy requirement and has been removed from the article again. Please do not restore this image to that article again without complying with the requirements of that policy. For more information on how to write an appropriate non-free use rationale, please consult Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline. If you have questions about this, please ask. I owe you an apology too. Re reading the description on my edit I may of come across as been a little harsh so I apologize for that. Just to mention as well I did not intentionally post the edit description in caps lock. I knocked the caps lock button twice in error during typing that and by the time I realized what I had done it was too late.(Ruth-2013 (talk) 14:35, 4 July 2011 (UTC))

Disambiguation link notification

Hi. In your recent article edits, you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
