Reversion of edits to Karen David

[edit]

Hi there, and thankyou for getting involved in developing this article. As long as you are careful to avoid any conflict of interest, wikipedia is happy to welcome article subjects or their agents to edit Wikipedia. However, articles about living people (commonly referred to as "BLPs") are particularly sensitive on wikipedia, as it is important to avoid adding any material to the article which could be construed as libel. Wikipedia's BLP policy was created to address this issue, and protect wikipedia and the Wikimedia Foundation from legal exposure. The essence of the BLP policy is very simple: all additions to BLP articles must be verifiable - that is to say, all factual details must be referenced to reliable sources to prove that they are correct. The problem with the material you have tried to add is not that it is not useful material, but that it is not referenced. As such, its addition will be continually reverted unless and until you can provide reliable, independent sources to confirm each detail; repeated attempts to add unreferenced material to BLPs will get you blocked, which I don't want any more than you do. I'm afraid Wikipedia, because of the legal ramifications, is absolutely inflexible about this policy: the material is unsourced, so it cannot be added. You are welcome to use reliable sources like the BBC, CNN, published newspapers, etc, to add references to the material (just add the code <ref>http://www.the_URL_of_the_webpage_which_supports_the_statement.com</ref> for each point which needs referencing, which is practically every sentence in your addition); if you need any help with doing this, don't hesistate to ask me. However, unless and until the material you add is reliably sourced, it will be immediatley removed, and repeated attempts to add it will get you warned and then blocked. I hope this explains the situation for you. Happymelon 11:10, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your page blanking was reverted by an anti-vandalism bot (we don't approve of keeping blank pages), but I have stripped the article down to its absolute bare bones. If you have an e-mail address registered to your account, you can send me a direct e-mail from Special:Emailuser/Happy-melon. If you have not already set and confirmed an e-mail address, you need to set one at Special:Preferences. The e-mail address you use will not be visible to any outside parties, and will not be used by Wikipedia for any purpose other than allowing other users to contact you.
