interview request

Hello, My name is Natalia Olaru and I am a final year master student in the Corporate Communication programme at the Aarhus School of Business in Denmark. I am currently working on my final paper on the topic of the motivation of users to create content on collaborative media websites, the focus being Wikipedia. As a sample I chose the English and Danish portals. I would like to invite you for an online interview on the topic of what motivates you, as a user, to participate in editing and creating articles for this platform. Your real identity, and wikipedia account will be kept confidential through the paper. I plan on doing the actual interviews in the period between 6st and the 15th of May via Skype, MSN, Google Talk or Yahoo Messenger. I am, however, open to other channels of communication too. Please let me know if you would like to participate in this interview and the preferred channel. Thank you, Natalia Olaru Email: natalia.ioana.olaru@gmail.com --MulgaEscu (talk) 12:13, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

"Dhéanamh ar rolla bairille!"

Cad is brí le sin, a chara? - Alison 00:38, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

Ohhh!! Tuigim anois :) Awesome. Ach b'fhéidir go bhfuil an abairt "Déan rolla bairille!" níos fearr? Is níos giorra é, ar aon nós :) Slán! - Alison 00:54, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

"I think this must be an American thing..."

Oh please... -- tariqabjotu 20:00, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

1 2 3 4 5...  狐 Déan rolla bairille!  20:07, 17 May 2011 (UTC)
6, 7, 8, 9, 10... Indeed, our article on AmEng/BrEng differences suggests hyphenation issues between the two variants are equivalent, and that hyphens should be used in compound adjectives. Long story short, "must be an American thing" (rarely do I read the inverse) is the last resort of grammar disputes, and often -- particularly when it's wrong -- sounds haughty. -- tariqabjotu 20:29, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

Since I have now full-protected the Dublin Philharmonic Orchestra article for 3 days, could you please try and discuss with Derek Gleeson your side of the issue on the article's talk page, just as I told him to do? That would be appreciated. –MuZemike 00:38, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

Thanks

Don't often get barnstars... Actually, I was quite impressed with what I saw of his stuff. A little old-fashioned, but nothing wrong with that. Good rhythm and rhyming, only one dubious rhyme I could see and that at least had the right vowel sound in it (unlike some things by major poets (and hymn writers too...) who seem to get away with murder in that respect). (Making mental note to chase up illustrator when I get back - she's been sitting on a book of limericks written by a friend, which I am editing for free. I've let her be as she's getting wed this month.) Anyway, I hope our laddie doesn't get into the hands of the vanity press lot. He deserves better. Peridon (talk) 13:32, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

I'm sure this page was a different colour when I started writing... Peridon (talk) 13:33, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

Please do not just remove a nomination, just because you might think there is a similar one, if you look the one I nominated is more appropriate and has wider significace due to the Twitter link, and I commented to that effect on that against the other one. VERTott 23:05, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

you suggestion, might to some, given your comments, seem like a way to avoid having it listed, so for that reason, I decline.VERTott 23:20, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

WikiCup 2011 May newsletter

We're half way through round 3 of the 2011 WikiCup. There are currently 32 remaining in the competition, but only 16 will progress to our penultimate round. Scotland Casliber (submissions), of pool D, is our overall leader with nearly 200 points, while pools A, B and C are led by Texas Racepacket (submissions), Zanzibar Hurricanehink (submissions) and Saskatchewan Canada Hky (submissions) respectively. The score required to reach the next round is 35, though this will no doubt go up significantly as the round progresses. We have a good number of high scorers, but also a considerable number who are yet to score. Please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. Also, an important note concerning nominations at featured article candidates: if you are nominating content for which you intend to claim WikiCup points, please make this clear in the nomination statement so that the FAC director and his delegates are aware of the fact.

A running total of claims can be seen here. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. J Milburn and The ed17 23:26, 31 May 2011 (UTC)
