Thanks

Hello! I just wanted to pass along my thanks for your support in my RfA from earlier this week. I hope I did not disappoint you. I am going on Wikibreak and I will let you know when or if I am back on the site -- I am trying to take time away to clear my thoughts and refocus on this and other priorities. Be well. HI (sorry 'bout the spammy note),

- DYK updates have been a bit slow and there's a bit of a shortage of admins actively involved. We are asking folks who listed themselves on Wikipedia:Did you know/Admins to update details on this page - User:Olaf Davis/DYKadmins, so we can grade everyone's involvement (and who, knows, someone may want to get involved more :) ).Cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 04:29, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Can you also...

... delete this: [1]. I think that it is necessary given the circumstances. ≈ jossi ≈ (talk) 22:48, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

Hey WBOSITG, any idea when the next WikiCup sign-ups will take place? iMatthew (talk) 19:44, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry, I didn't understand. Are you saying I should state on the talk page that I would like to enter? iMatthew (talk) 19:49, 15 September 2008 (UTC)
Aha, got it. Thanks!! iMatthew (talk) 19:53, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

My RfA

Thank you for supporting me in my RfA, which passed with a count of (166/43/7). I appreciate your comments and in my actions as an administrator I will endeavor to maintain the trust you have placed in me. I am honored by your trust and your support. WBOSITG, thank you so much for the nomination, I did not really know what you were going to say but I respect you and your contributions on this project and the fact that you are "wowed" by me is silly because I am wowed by you. Thank you, Cirt (talk) 01:51, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

NationStates

I know this isn't appropriate use of a user talk page, but could you please inform the people of Skalysta that my internet's down and my school's shared computers don't allow access to nationstates, so they'll have to elect a temporary delegate to cast the vote on the WA resolution.

I wish I could do it, and we're phoning Virgin tonight, but there's a good chance I won't be able to play for a couple of days.

Thanks! Densock|Dendodgein public 11:35, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Re:WikiCup again

If you do I will be so mad! Don't move those pages! Keep the finger down, and step away from the keyboard! THERE IS NO NEED TO PANIC! No, I am sort of here, and sort of not if you get my meaning. Moving them is just a pain. (Trust me, I know. I did it once, you did it once, I am sure that your not ready or willing to have that experience again!) Keep the pages, as you can see, iMatthew has now taken my spot as I am on full-time semi-wikibreak. (I know that sounds weird, but it's true!) :P Dreamafter (talk) 22:41, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Edit Summary

Please watch your language, but especially on your edit summaries. Saying "fucking hell" is a good way to get blocked quickly. Please keep your cool and if you need to step back, have a Pepsi, a smoke, whatever, if things are getting to heated. If you need help with anything, please feel free to ask. - NeutralHomerTalk 20:32, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

I was trying to add a comment here, but that smiley face at the bottom of your talk page distracted me. F***ing hell. :) –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 20:42, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
I probably jumped the gun there, I didn't take a look at the previous edit (my apologizes). I just didn't want you to get in trouble....but with that anon user's comment, I don't think you would. Again, my apologizes. Take Care...NeutralHomerTalk 20:44, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
No, it's really fine. I appreciate it. :D weburiedoursecretsinthegarden 20:46, 19 September 2008 (UTC)
And that anon user's blocked for harassment: the edit summary was what caught my attention on the watchlist. A rangeblock may be useful if the narrow IP range continues. Acroterion (talk) 20:48, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Sexual stalkers, everywhere! Do you know if you can find a range- the 90... range is one that I can find, but then there's one that's 81... What to do? This needs to be dealt with, and fast. RL and J.d are too good for us to lose. Erik the Red 2 (AVE·CAESAR) 22:21, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Kurt and arrogance and AfD

At the block/ban discussion, you said:

"Endorse. Kurt has always struck me as arrogant. Think about it - if a new user came in and acted the way Kurt did he'd be blocked in seconds. Why isn't Kurt looked on in the same principle?" weburiedoursecretsinthegarden 21:45, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

I'm taking minor points to talk pages, but I wanted to ask whether you considered that taking part in the ban discussion, given the specific AfD discussion, might have given the appearance of bias? I'm strongly in favour of people who contribute to such ban discussions revealing recent past interactions. Given that Kurt had made a strong criticism at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Karl Kae Knecht, which some people earlier in the discussion had interpreted as being directed at you and MBisanz, do you think that should have been disclosed? Can you see how, even if it isn't the way you meant it, it can look like you might have been supporting a ban based on his AfD behaviour? It's tricky to say things like this without causing offence, so please, if this has offended you, say so and I'll try and explain in more detail. I do realised that you commented before him there, so maybe you weren't aware of what he had said, or felt it was directed at MBisanz or in general, and not at you? Speaking of which, did you see the AfD again before it closed? I've been wondering if you would have changed your AfD !vote on the basis of the sources found by others? When ever I see that happen, I remain thankful that we have such a wide range of people contributing at AfD, so even if some people miss something, other find the sources. And yes, I think Kurt's comment applies to himself - he should have, once the article was nominated, tried to find and add those sources. Feel free to ignore this, but I did want to get a response down somewhere about that AfD, as it being kept was a nice success story, I think, even if everything else was a bit depressing. Where's Malinaccier

Have you heard anything from him recently? I don't really need his help or anything (not at the moment anyway) but it seems odd he hasn't logged on for a week. I'm probably just being a worry-guts again but it seems odd somehow. Best, --Cameron* 19:05, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

Talk page formatting

Hey WBOSITG :) I remember you being pretty decent at having a good looking user page, so I came to ask some advice. I've recently redesigned my user talk page (here) and I was wondering:

  • What do you think? Is it too messy/too hard to navigate around?
  • Do you have any idea how I can get {{User:Cyclonenim/New talk/Post}} to come below the other users box? I can't seem to get it underneath, it just goes to the side.

Sorry for the hassle, just didn't know who to ask. Kind regards, hope everything's good!

Cyclonenim (talk · contribs · email) 22:27, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

Thanks :) I've tried using the {{hidden}} template but it comes up like this:
Testing

I'm a student from Nottingham, United Kingdom. You can see a picture of me to your left! I will be applying Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry to study medicine in a few months (or failing that a neuroscientist). However, as of yet, I'm still a layperson studying biology, chemistry and physics at college. I'm a Christian. Quite frankly, I love music and I play the guitar (acoustic, bass and electric) pretty much every day. I'm also pretty interested in parkour, photography and drama. As should be expected from a prospective doctor, I'm trained in first aid and also in deaf and blind communication. I volunteer regularly at my local Oxfam shop and always try my best to give advice to anyone who needs it. I'm aware this is starting to read like a personal statement for a university application, so I'll end it here!
As you can see, the content doesn't appear to be showing, it just shows {{2}}. I'm such an amateur at this stuff so I've probably gone wrong somewhere. —Cyclonenim (talk · contribs · email) 22:46, 29 September 2008 (UTC)
Makes sense :) I'll see if I can finish now! Thanks a lot :)
