Francois Santo (Jewellery Designer)

François Santo (born August 9, 1979) is an Italian Jewellery Designer based in Sydney, Australia. He's the successor of three generations of Jewellery Designers, Engravers and Sculptors. After completing a 2-year formal course at the historical San Giacomo School of Ornamental Arts in Rome, he launched his own art-inspired fine jewellery brand in 2001.

Biography

Francois Santo grew up in a stimulating and inspiring environment. From an early age, he has been exposed to gems and techniques to shape, chisel and sculpt precious metals to create personal ornaments and has been passionate about the creative world since then.

Under the tutelage and inspiration of his jeweller uncle, Francois invested in his innate curiosity for the history of jewellery as adornment. He worked on his family bench as an apprentice at the age of 16, when he learnt to draw, design and polish jewellery and the art of ornament engraving and melting precious metals to create different alloys.

Francois undertook training and collaborated with the Italian gem setter-engraver-enameler and painter Elvio Sorrentino in Rome to develop his skills and knowledge of the art of diamond and gemstone setting and the ancient craft of cloisonne enamelling. The origin of this technique dates back to the ancient Pharaohic Eygpt, after which it reached its zenith during the Art Nouveau period of the great French goldsmiths with the likes of Lalique.

At the age of 26, Francois received his first academic award at "DESIDERI PREZIOSI", held annually by the [Chamber of Commerce] at the ancient [of Hadrian|Tempio di Adriano] in the heart of imperial Rome. Bruno Martinazzi presented Francois with the first prize for his jewellery piece - his artistic interpretation of [Whitman's] poem: "...hear the stars thrilling in the sky..."

Francois continued his studies, focusing on the classical renaissance and pursuing his passion for nature's harmony, creating collections of tributes to flora, fauna and ancient mythology, especially Roman and Greek historical episodes.

He's been invited by the artist-architect Jean Claude le Swiss to create a special bespoke collection, displayed at the showroom "Piazzetta del Principe" in Porto Cervo for two years.

Francois also participated in a number of diamond courses with global companies such as HRD (The Hoge Raad voor Diaman-Diamond High Council) in Antwerp and the GIA (Gemmological Institute of America).

During his visit to Australia in 2018, Francois worked with Stefano Canturi as Canturi's creative department manager. After 2 years in the role, he decided to stay in Australia and focus on his own brand, Santo Fine Jewellery. He also collaborated with other famous designers, such as Carla Zampatti. You are continuing to promote yourself here. STOP IT. STOP IT IMMEDIATELY or you will lose talk page access. You have additionally made an incredibly serious accusation against Fernando Jorge (designer). Please immediately provide your specific evidence that that page was written by Jorge himself. Even if true, that wouldn't lead to us unblocking you to do the same inappropriate thing; see WP:OTHERSTUFF. If you do not have this specific evidence, please retract your incredibly serious accusation of impropriety. Yamla (talk) 10:20, 6 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
