Hi, here's my talk page. Feel free to put anything you want here. If it's here, then you can assume that I've seen it. It's my policy not to delete mostly any messages here, but please don't vandalize this page. I will revert obvious vandalism that obstructs other people's view of my page. Thanks in advance for leaving a message! The reason for this policy is that I believe comments on this page- even if it's an attack against me- offer insight into what other user's think of me.

This page has never been archived. For your reading pleasure, I don't plan to archive it. Scratch that, this page is getting huge. I will blank every 100 comments, with a link to each archival copy (I want to preserve the diffs that I've often use as 'evidence').

I reserve the right to make slight modifications to people's comments, providing that it doesn't change the meaning. I promise not to change the body of people's text, but I may sign it for them if they forgot (I'll put it in [brakets], and make a note of it somewhere). I also might move comments, or add titles to people's comments if they didn't do it themselves. Whatever I decide to change, will be an obvious modification, usually denoted by [brackets]. Regardless of whether somebody has vandalized this page, attacked me personally, etc., I will deal with vandalism on THIS page on a case-by-case basis. On the other hand, reverting vandalism on my userpage would be much appreciated, and I have no problems with that. My personal policy is not to delete anything unless it obstructs other people's view of this page. I believe that messages on this page- inflammatory or not- give people potentially valuable insight on the type of contributor I am on Wikipedia.

This page was reverted once. I didn't see any reasonable way of preserving the message, and the user modified other people's comments.[1]

To everybody who posts here: Please sign your name with four tildes (like this: ~~~~). It makes it a lot easier for everybody (especially myself) to find out who said what. If you have something against time stamps, then I have no problem if you use three tildes, just make sure you post to the bottom of the page, so that everything is in chronological order.

Copyrights

While the paladin press page might have been copyrighted I just want to say that the articles on American Dragon and Isometric exercises were not found at the sites you specified. And I think that to an extent the widespread use of those articles across the internet is proof that there is no copyright. If you run a search of the text I posted you eill find it on multiple sites. And finally while I apoligize if I violated any copyrights my only intention was to get the articles started so others could edit them.--Gary123 23:27, 23 Jan 2005 (UTC)

I also want to add that I believe all three of my articles are important enough to deserve to be in wikipedia one being a major printg press that was invovled in a major legal battle, the other an animated television series on a major network, and the third an important exercise use by one of the most famous exercising systems of all time Dynamic Tension by Charles atlas. DanP's violation of the 3RR

If you look on his Talk: page, you'll note he was warned about this already back on December 16, 2004, so it's not like he doesn't know. As well, rather than being contrite, or suggesting he wouldn't do it again, he characterized his reverts as removing "vandalism", when he was clearly involved in an edit war. A friend asked me to point out these four reverts by Jakew in a twenty four our period. This is only the second time I ever tattled about 3RR and the othertime was to help to add some weight to the more serious issue of personal attacks. I generally let this sort of thing slide, but my friend really would like me to report this for him. So now, here it goes:

On medical analysis of circumcision Jakew made these edits:

1. 16:39, 24 Jan 2005 revert to 23:18, 23 Jan 2005
2. 20:32, 24 Jan 2005 revert to 18:23, 24 Jan 2005
3. 01:00, 25 Jan 2005 revert to 20:32, 24 Jan 2005
4. 13:09, 25 Jan 2005 revert to 12:44, 25 Jan 2005

Those are revert pairs. He has several version to which he reverts at random. He has four pairs there to which he reverted. Whether that counts as four reverts, I leave for you to decide.

Reference List

Hi: Stumbled across the reference/cite check talk by accident. I'm new. Haven't contributed much; latest was Degenerate art Zosodada reverted & ripped me to shreds in less than 72 hours. I'm still perspiring, but that article looks nth degree encyclopedic now. I had to dig like a dog - my literary cites weren't convincing. Since I also spend a lot of time on the Ref Desk, I started my own list by "web farming" & categorizing: Arts; Business; News; Law; Inflation calculators - everything I can find. I just started; tedious checking links & determining they're useful. Something I tossed 2 days ago I needed the next. Is this helpful for your project, or a wasted effort? Sorry that the project lost momentum. Noticed that there is a Category:Reference & Category:Sources currently existing. many of my links overlap; but also found many that aren't on the list- ArtLex one example of a compendium that is valuable for fact checking. Also bumped into an error on ballet page - it's not "America Ballet Co." - it's "American Ballet Co." - and it's a video dictionary. Hi Frazzydee. I wonder if I could ask for your help with something. A few days ago, User:Fvw set a block on me, which I believe was inappropriate. As far as I can tell, I didn't violate any policies, and the owner of the page concerned has since affirmed my beliefs. I'm trying to discuss this with Fvw, but I'm not having much luck. Thanks for your response. I don't agree that what I did was wrong, and DanP doesn't seem to think so either (I guess since it's his user page he gets the last word...). Either way, it certainly wasn't user page vandalism as currently defined. My frustration at present is more with Fvw's arrogant refusal to discuss the matter than with the block itself - although I feel wronged, I can put it in the past if we could at least talk about it. Hi: Are you familiar with citing reference sourcework? I just made my 1st edit change, and my information contradicts what's in the article on Sylvester Graham. How do I check this? My reference is pretty good, I think: It's an Oxford Companion Encyclopedia. Also, I would be very interested to know what kinds of guidelines you use for plagiarism? I added the section == List of articles that have been referenced == on the main page because I wanted to see some articles that have been referenced. I don't think we have any yet :(. Milgaard Page

Thanks for the encouragement, I actually did an ISU on Milgaard, Morin and a few other cases of Canadians wrongfully convicted a couple years ago and just found the old documents on my computer, so decided to run through them quickly and hopefully update some Wikipedia pages with the info I'd dug up on them...while bored I actually then went and made a page for Milgaard's lawyer that I've seen in the paper several times for various things (Hersh Wolch) It's always encouraging though when you take time out of your day to update a wikipedia reference, to know that somebody's actually seen it, and it's not just lost and useless in cyberspace :) btw, this is actually my first time using these talk pages, so I could be doing it completely wrong...guess I'll find out when I hit "save" :) --Sherurcij 06:55, Mar 13, 2005 (UTC)

Ah. The unfortunate side effect of processing a page. The time that it takes for Sandbot to get a page and process it has a lag time of about a minute or so. Therefore, when it attempts to re-enforce the existing header, the page in its cache is stale. I'm thinking a way to revert that. -- AllyUnion (talk) 23:05, 14 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Fact and Reference Check

Hi Frazzydee,

Excellent work on the Fact and Reference checks and organization, esp. the article on Titan's Moon and now the current one on the Egyptian pyramids. I'll take a look at the formatting for each of these and try out doing some fact checks :). It is good we have a format in place to get it rolling and people will realize they can do referencing and start doing it to all articles. I think the momentum is starting to pick up.

As well, I notice that the list of members in FARC is organized by when they joined. Would a less POV version be alphabetic? We want new members to feel as important as old members, so we can get them working :P.

Thanks for the message. I remember moving the page to his User space from something like 'Template:Not notable', but I'd not normally delete anything in user space unless the creator asked for it to be. (Why didn't he use 'subst'?)

I'll be getting a mic soon, but my voice is pretty bad. You can contribute in the way I have, by editing others' contributions to delete weird pauses, or stutters, or anything that can clean up the speech. For an example, see the original and updated links at the bottom of the Robert Oppenheimer audio file; I got rid of 35 seconds of weird pauses, etc. You might try doing the History of the World audio file for a test. Just make sure you reencode it at the same kbps so that there isn't too much loss. As for the template, this was a consensus/compromise between myself, Raul654, and some of the other Spoken Wikipedia members, who all agree that it is fine. It might be a little redundant, but we're trying to increase the project popularity, so maybe we can consider changing this when we get a lot more people and articles. --brian0918&#153; 02:08, 20 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Greetings. I appreciate the friendly way you initiated my co-workers, whom I have just introduced to Wikipedia. You know them as 143.158.254.228, which is actually a proxy, though you will not be surprised to discover one of them is named Nerge. They are aware of the sandbox, but they were not really testing to see if they could edit articles, but rather how fast their obvious jokes and vandalism would be reverted. Your excellent response time amazed them. One of them is watching me write this and is threatening me with an umbrella.

Perhaps I shouldn't have shown them wikipedia.

Moral Clarity

You unblocked the user:Moral Clarity and then falied to reblock them. I have reinstaded a week long block, hopefully within that time it can be shown whether or not the user is a sock or copycat, and a longer block can be enforced. I should also add that if you looked thorugh the user history and at the other socks you would have noticed that both the previous socks were blocked indefinately quite soon after creation (on the same day, within a few hours), given this and the obvious similarities between this new version of said sock I don't think my original block was unresonable. --nixie 01:53, 25 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Template:Deletedpage

Last thing, this survived TfD with calls to rewrite. I may be the wrong person to fix it, since I apparently did not do a good job to begin with. I don't really understand what is wrong with it -- short and to the point.

Right now, it's unused, but if I see any way to improve it, I might like to use it in the body of Template:Pfd. Bias: I think nothing should be deleted, except that whose very presence is misleading, flatly illegal, or unnecessarily offensive -- and I have a very broad definition of "necessary" -- except to make room for something else. Gee. My very first case of User page vandalism. I feel like I've joined the club or something. I am thoroughly disappointed, however, that it wasn't something that was more inventive than a page blank. But then that sort of matches the very unimaginative vandalism that I've been reverting the past couple of days. For some reason I've been getting a bunch of very minor vandalism on my Watchlist—stuff like someone will add "dog" at the end of a paragraph. Is this one of Ivyboy's friends? His actions were diferent from Ivyboy, but his name reminds me of Ivyboy. (For your information, Bulbaboy got his Wikimedia name from Pokemon #1 (Bulbasaur); Ivyboy based his name on Ivysaur, and now we have Ditto in the form of Dittoboy.)

In addition, Ivyboy warned that his friends were going to prevent edits from Bar Ilan, and Dittoboy seems to think it is a good idea to do so). Notice that you wrote that you will block if he "vandalizes somebody else's talk page, user page, or articles", and the first thing he does is asks you to block him and vandalises someone else's talk page.

GAP Project

I'm going to try to be calm here;

First- read the talk page Talk:GAP Project. This answers your question about what copyright violation occurred, I stopped reading after coming across the first copied sentence (the one that i mentioned on the talk page). This was the second time I had to address this page for copyright violations.

Instructions for clearing copyvios are simple; if the initial edit is a copyright violation then delete the article. Otherwise revert to the most recent revision that doesn't contain a copyright violation (see WP:CP). This is what I did to the GAP Project. Also, in this case, I deleted the revisions that contained copyright violations, because Coolcat kept repeating his copyright violations.

Second- This is not the first time I've delt with Coolcat on copyright violations, and while he is a very nice guy, my experience with him is that he keeps copying, keeps complaining, and keeps shopping around for different administrators when he doesn't get the answerers he wants (Silsor, Burgundavia, you...)

I am not mad at you or Coolcat, and forgive my language, but the amount of time squandered arguing over this fucking bullshit is an order of magnitude greater than that required to write the article from scratch. If this had been any other user, and on the first copyvio, I would have spent the extra time removing or re-writing the sentances that were still copied. But it was the Coolcat, who had just wasted a huge amount of my time with idiotic copyvio arguments on Diagnosis Murder. And this was the SECOND time I had to spend my time reviewing the GAP Project.

Finally- Please pass on to Coolcat that he has my solemn promise that I will not delete his work as a copyvio as long as he doesn't plagerize and commit copyright violations.

If you want to spend your time restoring parts of this article I think it would be great, but I have no stomach for it now. --Duk 15:20, 5 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I mean, this is a great idea, but it doesn't make sense that all hard-to-understand math articles would have exactly eight articles that you would need to link to as background. Hello Frazzydee, I have made some modifications to the output-light.css to reach this layout. I have just placed it in nl:Gebruiker:JePe/chatzilla/output-light-restyle.css. The changes are however not really documentated in the CSS. I uploaded the screenshot for an article on nl.wikipedia, but I didn't know that it was uploaded by someone else to Commons. • I am unaware of any other such templates, and frankly I don't quite see how it could be useful (it lists the long history of another page; however, when discussing a page what is usually important is one specific version, or a diff - not a lengthy history). And people are unlikely to imitate using it since it doesn't look like a template. Anyway... Grasshopper Page

Saw you leaving a question about that in Kate’s discussion page — okay, that was ages ago, anyway — so here’s the answer: Wikipedia:EN isn’t in UTF-8 still, because there are supposedly software out there which would break it. I’m sure there are, but all the Unicode Wikis don’t seem to suffer such degradation. The last graphical browser I know didn’t work well with Unicode is Netscape 4, and I doubt there are significant amounts of people using it. Much more is the hassle of watching out what we can put in an article title (no ő and ű here in English wikipedia, for example: Györ), and hunting for all kinds of &#nnnn; codes in the text when editing an article with IPA characters in them for example.

I wish the English (and Dutch and the rest — if the Spanish did it, why can’t others‽) Wikipedia would convert to Unicode finally.

Raul654 tells me that you are currently managing the script that sends out the daily FeaturedArticle to a mailing list. Could you take a look at Wikipedia_talk:Picture_of_the_day#Can_we_have_a_POTD_by_email.3F and comment on the feasibility of adding POTD to the email, or possibly a separate distribution. I understand that Kate wrote the original script, so it may not be easy to make changes.

No problem at all lol! I find my Wikipedia usage has been going down as well, just because so many other people are taking up the slack that things that were on my to-do list are getting done so I can sit back and watch it all happen :).

Its good the FARC project is going along well, Wikipedia is becoming big enough that the factuality component, instead of completeness and coverage, is becoming important.

Ancient tfds

Back in July, you removed the discussions of Template:AubreyMaturinSeries, Template:Dangerous, Template:Policysuspended, and Template:TPOV, all of which had unanimous consensus for deletion, from WP:TFD. However, the templates were never deleted, and I find no mention of them in either the deleted or not-deleted logs.
