Orphaned non-free image File:Icon fh10 app.gif

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Icon fh10 app.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Courcelles 04:14, 12 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the username you have chosen (Freefreehand) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

  1. It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization.
  2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guideline to avoid editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.

You seem to represent a group mentioned in your edits to Macromedia FreeHand OSborn arfcontribs. 21:40, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Your account has been blocked indefinitely from editing Wikipedia because it appears to be mainly intended or used for publicity and/or promotional purposes. Please read the following carefully.

Why can't I edit Wikipedia?

Your account's edits and/or username indicate that it is being used on behalf of a company, group, celebrity or other well-known individual, or organization for purposes of promotion and/or publicity. The edits may have violated one or more of our rules on spamming, which include: adding inappropriate external links, posting advertisements, and using Wikipedia for promotion. Wikipedia has many articles on companies, groups, and organizations, but it is considered inappropriate for such groups to use Wikipedia to write about themselves. In addition, usernames like yours are disallowed under our username policy.

Am I allowed to make these edits if I change my username?

Probably not. See WP:FAQ/Organizations for a helpful list of frequently asked questions by people in your position. Also, review the conflict of interest guidance to see the kinds of limitations you would have to obey if you did want to continue editing about your company, group, or organization. If this does not fit in with your goals, then you will not be allowed to edit again. Consider using one of the many websites that allow this instead.

What can I do now?

You are still welcome to write about something other than your company or organization. If you do intend to make useful contributions on some other topic, you must convince a Wikipedia administrator that you mean it. To that end, please do the following:

  • Add the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} on your user talk page.
  • Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:Listusers to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy.
  • Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In this reason, you must:
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, please see how to appeal a block.

Request reason:

First my apology for causing this problems. Why did I choose the username FreeFreeHand? Of course I was always aware that Wikipedia is not a place for lobbying or making edits that serve certain interests. But I was also aware that the right people to contribute content to a theme are the ones who are professionals on that theme, the experts. Who else if not long time FreeHand users are able or willing to make the FreeHand article a better one, less rumors and assumptions as it had before, but more facts; after all, my only interest here is that I find FreeHand deserves a better and more profound Wikipedia entry. I am not selling anything here, I am not Adobe. FreeFreeHand is a team of design professionals, making a contribution to Wikipedia, I just did not want to hide that I am part of that team. Many weeks of team effort, investigating sources, writing, editing, even correspondence with Von Ehr, have made it possible to deliver this detailed article about the history of FreeHand. Bringing up facts, no rumors or opinions, as you can see for yourself reading the article. Of course there is a point that may be problematic from the "interest warning" point of view - that some references point to FreeFreeHand. Just because we are part of or responsible of (if any there will be) future of FreeHand. But if thats a problem, those references can be deleted of course.

Decline reason:

We don't get to write about ourselves or our companies or our organizations on Wikipedia. --jpgordon::==( o ) 00:44, 18 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
