Can we talk about Huggle?

I’m reaching out to you because our logs tell us you’re a highly active Huggle user (top 20, actually). The Wikimedia Collaboration Team is researching a project that we hope will be useful to people who use Huggle and others engaged in edit-review and anti-vandalism. Using artificial intelligence programming (in ORES) and other means, we believe we can create feeds of Recent Changes that are better tailored to the type of work you do, helping you to be more effective and efficient. (The technology will have other benefits as well, which we can talk about.)

We're in the early stages of planning this and want to speak with people like yourself to better understand your work, goals and issues. If you’re interested in helping, I’d like to set up a time to meet by video conference, so that you can explain and demonstrate (via screensharing) some of your workflows, and we can ask and answer any questions.

To participate, please email the following information to me, jmatazzoni@wikimedia.org, or send it to designresearch@wikimedia.org:

  • Username
  • city/time zone
  • Best time to talk to you?
  • Email where we can reach you
  • Please use the subject line: Huggle User Conversations

Thanks! JMatazzoni (WMF) (talk) 19:43, 20 May 2016 (UTC)

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

Hello, Frosty. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

" commonwealth of Virginia not the state of Virginia"

Virginia is one of the 4 members of the USA union that go by commonwealth not state. Virginia only has one department with the name state in it the state troopers everything else goes by commonwealth. The commonwealth to this date practices a lot of old things, we still have slander as a crime. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.99.93.36 (talk) 03:43, 23 February 2017 (UTC)

Upon reading over Commonwealth (U.S. state) and the fact the change added a redlink to the article, state will be fine as Virginia is a state as well as a commonwealth. There is no real need to spcify in that case. —Frosty 07:46, 23 February 2017 (UTC)

CSD declined

I've declined your nomination of Armand Rada for deletion under WP:A3. It is clearly ineligible, as there is content on the page. Please be more careful while applying CSD tags. ~ Rob13Talk 22:55, 2 March 2017 (UTC)

Apologies, I self reverted the request as I appear to be experiencing some lag. I noticed the content too. —Frosty 22:57, 2 March 2017 (UTC)

Pages

Hey I added content on the page you said didn't have enough 😊 Samhallehalle1 (talk) 09:53, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

Ah good, in future I strongly recommend you make a more substantial first edit on a page you are creating, especially if you plan to come back to it later. Doesn't need to be much, a few sentences is enough, but it needs to be more than just recreating the title of the page. Have fun! —Frosty 10:43, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

Hello

Kenneth T. Tran Award
Hi Frosty, I noticed you undid my changes sir... or ma'am.. is it sir, or ma'am? ;D

What was wrong with it? It's on the clone wars plot page Kennethttran (talk) 07:53, 10 March 2017 (UTC)

It would be sir I suppose. As for the revert, I did it because you removed a very large section of a draft article created by somebody else. If there was a problem with the content such as copyright related issues, could you please use an edit summary next time to avoid confusion? It appears this was an instance where the removal was appropriate as I have since been reverted by another editor who originally reverted you, but yeah, communicate to other editors your intent when making significant changes. —Frosty 08:09, 10 March 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer granted

Hello Frosty. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.

  • URGENT: Please consider helping get the huge backlog (around 15,000 pages) down to a manageable number of pages as soon as possible.
  • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
  • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. Coffee // have a cup // beans // 19:52, 14 March 2017 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 1998 NFC Championship Game, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Drew Pearson. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Proposed deletion of Roberto Estuardo Penedo

Hello Frosty; I'm currently working with my first article, the biography of Roberto Estuardo Penedo, I already categorized and also put some references (links) to support the information. I am new on this so please be patient with me, I am planing to put some pictures as soon as find out how to do it, that will also support the content. Do not propose deletion of Roberto Estuardo Penedo, please give me the chance to finish my first biography/article. best, OlgaWills2017 — Preceding unsigned comment added by OlgaWills2017 (talkcontribs) 01:47, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

@OlgaWills2017: Ok, I advise that you have a read of Wikipedia:Inline citations to make sure you conform to expected styles. Additionally, you may find Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Text formatting helpful. —Frosty 02:18, 17 March 2017 (UTC).
Frosty, I just found that my article on Roberto Estuardo Penedo was deleted by Jimfbleak, I don't think this is fair, this system is so complicated and difficult to work with, it is not easy to create an article here. I try to contact Jimfbleak to ask why he deleted my article and how can I rewrite it but is not understandable how to leave a message to this person, I was considering to donate to wikipedia cause I think the information you guys displays is very helpful however I don't understand how you guys really works here and give me the impression that wikipedia is not for everybody to write, just for a selected group of people. I need to know if I can rewrite my article on Roberto Estuardo Penedo and how to do his biography according to your rules to avoid to be deleted. OlgaWills2017
@OlgaWills2017: It appears it was deleted because the sources were not independant and you didn't provide evidence of notability. You can absolutely create a page about him, but you must provide these things. Have a read of Wikipedia:Verifiability, it provides good detail on what is a good source of information to cite and what isn't. As for leaving a message for Jimfbleak, just go to User talk:Jimfbleak and talk to him about it. —Frosty 21:56, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

Dibs

Hi Frosty, it looks like you're active right now, so just a quick question;

re Cowboy Caboose (talk · contribs) making The International Dibs Protocol,I notice pretty obvious sock/meat to contest it, with Benji0944 (talk · contribs) and 72.221.125.223 (talk · contribs).

Fors

Is it worth doing anything about that socking?

Thought I'd ask before bothering to do an SPI thing, it's pretty trivial. Cheers, 86.20.193.222 (talk) 02e:38, 17 March 2017 (UTC

Absolutely go for it. Perhaps wait a few minutes, the admin who deleted the page in question may notice the same thing you did. Otherwise definitely report it. —Frosty 02:41, 17 March 2017 (UTC)
OK, SPI? Or just post on AN/I? I'll do it in, like, an hour or something. 86.20.193.222 (talk) 02:49, 17 March 2017 (UTC)
SPI and you can probably do it now. —Frosty 02:52, 17 March 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for your advice on it, Wikipedia talk:Sockpuppet investigations/ Cowboy Caboose 86.20.193.222 (talk) 03:13, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

Hi Frosty, this is Cowboy_Caboose, and I've read your messages, and I am slightly hurt by the deletion of my page. Don't get me wrong, I understand your job is hard, and it must be very annoying to have to deal with many useless and fake pages created by accounts. I came to talk to you, not only to apologize that my page came off on the wrong foot, but to defend it as well. To begin, Dibs is a cultural phenomenon which has developed and grown throughout society, and is still very prevalent today. I believe that since Dibs has no page on this website, it needed one to describe its aspect in society. When I began to look into it, I saw a set of rules that stood together as the Dibs protocol. The Dibs Protocol stands as a separate entity from the topic of Dibs itself, and I therefore believed it deserved its own page. I spent a long time compiling information from various sources to make a complete version to this date of the protocol. As an avid fan of Red vs. Blue, this dibs protocol was actually created during the fifth season, and I wanted to also make an extension from that into its own page for those who look to find a more complete and detailed synopsis of the protocol. If we could please discuss this topic some more I would love to answer any questions and or concerns that you have about this issue. Thank you and have a wonderful day. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cowboy Caboose (talkcontribs) 04:13, 17 March 2017 (UTC)

Amiga

Frosty like most of u guys ..who dont know jack on the Amiga, and preceed to use the wiki ......which is irony. .,because wiki can be changed to say its "shite" ,and if someone said belive it you would do so. You asked me what was my source..they gave only sources of themsleves or of thier friends links if you look close enough.. I did ..My source was from of which they hate with a passion my source which I stated is Jay Miner himself. you are only 20 years old you know nothing of the Amiga muchless the archtiecture of the Amiga or the pc=mac. Maybe u will learn. The so called amiga commuinty is well been kickout by me. The few yes the few are still in and around, and never would get apple products like some have. Point is u can find me by my title given by Jay Miner may he RIP. When u do then you can correct them for lieing about amiga information after u ask me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.166.75.119 (talkcontribs)

Speedy deletion declined: 4016

Hello Frosty. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of 4016, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not nonsense - there is meaningful content. Thank you. Primefac (talk) 22:34, 24 March 2017 (UTC)

But you did delete it, just with a different reason? I chose G1 because I 100% could not understand a word of it. —Frosty 22:39, 24 March 2017 (UTC)

Template

Can you help me with creating a template in wikipedia. I don't know about the step by step process of creating one. This is for my contribution to this page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Markx121993 (talkcontribs) 10:28, 25 March 2017 (UTC)

@Markx121993: I recommend you experiment with new templates in your userspace first. Create something at User:Markx121993/sandbox and if/when you feel your template is good, let me know and we can maybe talk about incorperating it in where its needed. —Frosty 11:34, 25 March 2017 (UTC)

Template:Greek mythology (deities)

can you adjust for me the Template:Greek mythology (deities). I just experimented on this template and I have new contributions but it doesnt turn out well the way i wanted it. Can you take a look and see what is the problem with my editing — Preceding unsigned comment added by Markx121993 (talkcontribs) 11:39, 25 March 2017 (UTC)

@Markx121993: I reverted your changes because the incorrect coding used will get transluded onto many pages. Take my advice above and experiment with templates in your userspace first, they can be hard at first to get right. Unfortunately, I myself am not brilliant when it comes to template coding so I can't help you identify where you went wrong. You could ask a Template editor perhaps? They may be able to steer you in the right direction. —Frosty 11:45, 25 March 2017 (UTC)

Speedy deletion converted to PROD: Ellie McHugh

Hello Frosty. I am just letting you know that I have converted the speedy deletion tag that you placed on Ellie McHugh to a proposed deletion tag, because I do not believe CSD applies to the page in question. Thank you. Adam9007 (talk) 00:15, 30 March 2017 (UTC)

@Adam9007: Yeah alright, it was marginal for me on which to give it. Ran a Google search and didn't find anything so I figured csd, but all good for the change. —Frosty 01:39, 30 March 2017 (UTC)

Greetings sir. At the link above the section about scandal part has been deleted. I do know why. Can you please help me with that?

Thank you — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vocativusss1987 (talkcontribs) 00:05, 31 March 2017 (UTC)

@Vocativusss1987: it seems Oshwah was the user that reverted your scandal addition. At a guess it was because you failed to cite a reliable source. Check out Wikipedia:Reliable sources and it should give you some useful advice :) —Frosty 01:12, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
Thank you sir. It must be okay now. I would appreciate if you have checked in any case. I want to be sure that everything is okay. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vocativusss1987 (talkcontribs) 01:16, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
@Vocativusss1987: The issue is not with how you sourced it, but with what the source was. Oshwah explaining in the revert summary that pastebin is not a source you can use (WP:UGC will give you an explanation why). I'm going to revert it back, however when you can produce a reliable and unbiased source for your edits you are more than welcome to change it back. —Frosty 01:32, 31 March 2017 (UTC)

seems you've made a mistake. I've never heard of the 2007 New England Patriots videotaping controversy, let alone edited it. Check to see if you have the right IP. thx — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.230.80.242 (talk) 04:20, 7 April 2017 (UTC)

The edit is definitely from your IP, but given the age of the edit its quite possible you were not the owner of it back then. If thats the case, just ignore the message. —Frosty 07:13, 7 April 2017 (UTC)

Page mover granted

Hello, Frosty. Your account has been granted the "extendedmover" user right, either following a request for it or demonstrating familiarity with working with article names and moving pages. You are now able to rename pages without leaving behind a redirect, and move subpages when moving the parent page(s).

Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Page mover for more information on this user right, especially the criteria for moving pages without leaving redirect. Please remember to follow post-move cleanup procedures and make link corrections where necessary, including broken double-redirects when suppressredirect is used. This can be done using Special:WhatLinksHere. It is also very important that no one else be allowed to access your account, so you should consider taking a few moments to secure your password. As with all user rights, be aware that if abused, or used in controversial ways without consensus, your page mover status can be revoked.

If you do not want the page mover right anymore, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Thank you, and happy editing! NeilN talk to me 04:05, 10 April 2017 (UTC)

Hello, can you please review and fix on these pages for me ,namely zionfelix and scata bada. Thanks...45.211.146.172 (talk) 13:51, 21 April 2017 (UTC)

ZionFelix is now done. I just moved the external links to the appropriate section, filled out the complete references and fixed a couple of typos. I have also restored the maintenance tags requiring more links to other articles and the orphan, its not a big deal and quite easily fixed just find relevant/related articles to link it too and from. —Frosty 22:23, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
Scata Bada also requires more links to it from other other articles, again easy to fix if you start adding some from relevant pages. —Frosty 22:28, 21 April 2017 (UTC)

I have unreviewed a page you curated

Thanks for reviewing Cornell International Affairs Society, Frosty.

Unfortunately TonyBallioni has just gone over this page again and unreviewed it. Their note is:

The notability of a student organization at a university is questionable. I had been saving this to research later with the possibility of AfD or PROD.

To reply, leave a comment on TonyBallioni's talk page.

TonyBallioni (talk) 01:21, 22 April 2017 (UTC)

Whoops, I thought I unchecked that one after adding maintenance tags. Thanks for that. —Frosty 09:45, 22 April 2017 (UTC)

John D. Goff

I came across the John D. Goff article and since it's creation it doesn't look like there's been much activity, aside from adding categories and such. I was tempted to nominate for deletion when I looked at the history and noticed you already had done a WP:BLPPROD but I couldn't find any relevant talk or logs regarding proposed deletion. Obviously, the page is still there but was there any discussion or did you rescind the request? My initial guess is it would qualify for WP:A7. Just wanted your thoughts. Thanks! Snickers2686 (talk) 23:44, 27 April 2017 (UTC)

@Snickers2686: Possibly couod have qualified for A7, but of late I have less inclined to tag A7 (unless really obvious) as I have come to view it as the "hard option". I tagged it for BLPPROD (it definitely qualified) with a possible AFD later if little progress was made. I see this as the "soft option". So yes, if you think this person is non-notable feel free to start an AFD :) —Frosty 07:19, 28 April 2017 (UTC)
