Knightly issues

[edit]

You will note that I signed a perfectly legitimate suggestion to place the article in an acceptable Wiki context ---- but what was done under a numerical ID, well................WBardwin 02:39, 31 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Been there -- random blocks, sigh. I do think "Once upon a time...." would be a good place. Do you? WBardwin 02:48, 31 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
It looks like a great place, I took a look. I'd never heard of it. If you like, you might want to extend an invitation to a couple of highly creative users, Geogre and Filiocht. Don't bother to mention my name, they don't know me, so to speak. Frutti di Mare 22:41, 31 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The knight fears the seafood

[edit]

Oh such irony. If you take a look at the history of the Sunterra Market page, you'l find that the person who first added that content was not I. But a man you may have read about. He goes by the name of Dan "Danomight" Hall. Anyhow i'm not sure if it makes a difference that he was the one who wrote the stuff on the Sunterra webpage?...unless the copyrighted stuff was the picture, not the text.[[AshJW 00:38, 15 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Jokes

[edit]

Maybe you could limit clever jokes like this to pages that aren't in article space? As it stands, that's just vandalism, as far as anybody who doesn't get the joke can tell. —Bunchofgrapes (talk) 19:59, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My, my. Sorry, but I thought it WAS clever. And aren't you supposed to thank me for experimenting with Wikipedia? Frutti di Mare 20:12, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Oh! Er, um, thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your experiment worked, and had been reverted. Please make future experiments in the sandbox. Do not pass GO, do not collect $200.Bunchofgrapes (talk) 20:41, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Autoblocks and how

[edit]

Thanks for your note. Who knows why these picky admins take offense?? Good to see you around again, Frutti di Mare. Up to something? WBardwin 06:54, 5 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Picky is exactly right, I'm just waiting for them to start objecting to seafood-type names. Nah, up to way too little, how'm I ever going to make admin at this rate? I'd be happy to nominate you, though. --Frutti di Mare 10:53, 5 June 2006 (UTC).[reply]
Thanks for letting me know -- let's hope this fame is fleeting! And thanks for your note about an admin nomination. You aren't the first to suggest it, and I have an interest. But, on a personal level, there is considerable illness in my immediate family and, with work, the time I have available here is quite erratic. I'm such a conscientious type (and virtuous too, according to Bishonen) that I would want to contribute in some admin function. I told myself I would try and become an admin after my 10,000 edit, which is coming soon. So, I will keep your offer in mind. Best wishes. WBardwin 22:59, 21 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks - I was fixing it as you were, so we had a copyedit. I'm going to try a slightly different approach.Sam 16:16, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A couple tweaks made and a paragraph split out - see what you think. Sam 16:28, 12 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Sam. I've moved your note to Talk:Redwood National and State Parks and replied there. Frutti di Mare 16:55, 12 June 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Thank you for your excellent contributions to the Redwoods article...very much appreciated:)--MONGO 20:25, 13 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My pleasure. Very interesting article. Cool owl! Frutti di Mare 20:52, 13 June 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Frutti di Mare?

[edit]

Please don't accuse me of making stuff up. I did nothing of the sort. Please try to be civil and assume good faith. How old are you Frutti di Mare? Josie the pussy cat 11:58, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Old enough to be able to tell made-up rules from real rules. Please note that my message provided a link to where you were making up stuff. Here it is again. Your edit summary there says "This is an ongoing request for adminship". You made that up out of whole cloth, after I had already told you it was an archive. Please use common sense in communicating with other users. Avoid invoking WP:AGF when you've screwed up, unless you want to be taken for a troll. Thank you. Frutti di Mare 14:06, 15 June 2006 (UTC).[reply]
I smell a wolf in cat's clothing (c.f. User:Metrocat), perhaps. —Bunchofgrapes (talk) 14:46, 15 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hello there, Mr. Stern Administrator. I see. Yes, a mouthful of WP:AGF tends to be a bit of a giveaway. Frutti di Mare 17:19, 15 June 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Where's my ice cream?

[edit]
Please freeze for a better day. Sigh. WBardwin 07:31, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Don't be hurt -- I love you too. And I hope you enjoyed it. Since I'm trying to diet, it's best if I just look at it anyway. Thanks for the sentiment. I really hope the new programming will do the trick. The last few weeks of intense blocking have been hard, as I can't even leave messages on others' talk pages. Maybe I can/should look for some lovely seafood for your talk page, although I've never uploaded an image. And sincerely, thanks for your support. WBardwin 07:45, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Too good to be true. First edit this morning, BAM! Autoblock. So here is your ice cream back for safekeeping. Sigh. WBardwin 07:30, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Dear me, in this heat? OK. I'll get you some pizza di mare when it's fixed for real. There's lots of food on the Commons, y'know. I've never uploaded any food, and I don't go hungry. Check out this page, or this. Or try this. Frutti di Mare 09:50, 13 July 2006 (UTC).[reply]
Some ebi for Frutti di Mare, with my thanks!WBardwin 21:30, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like it's pizza party time!! Block free/24 hours a day. What freedom. I wish I actually had more time to edit. Thanks for your long time concern and support. WBardwin 21:09, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Mail

[edit]

Do you mean email? I haven't received any email. Extraordinary Machine 18:29, 23 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Au contraire!

Not all cows are bovine. In fact, a female moose is called a cow, thus the need to be specific in A Moose for Jessica. —Hanuman Das 18:05, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ohhhh, I see. Where was my head? Thanks for taking care of it, and please apologize to Atisa for my error. Did you intentionally change "real-life" back to "non-fiction" when you cleaned up after me, though? I didn't think that was an improvement. YMMV, naturally. Frutti di Mare 19:02, 11 November 2006 (UTC).[reply]
Well, you had edited an old version of the article, so also lost the cover image and some minor change, so I just reverted to the previous version. I'll tell Atisa. :-) —Hanuman Das 19:06, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Civility

[edit]

Thanks for your note and your interest. Wikipedia's current problems (IMO) have gotten to me, I guess. I'm starting to sound (gasp) "sarcastic"! But, seriously, it would be nice to start moderating some things. The pendulum has swung just a little tooooo far on several issues/policies/procedures. I would list FA review, the whole concept of rating articles, and the footnote frenzy. I'm not against these procedures so much as I am against excess in all of them. I do feel a little guilty for setting Bishonen's posse on the poor fellow -- in checking his user name, it seems he has less than 600 edits. Of course, he could be a second account (that's hardly unknown, after all), and so be more experienced than he appears. But, if he is new, why is such a newby rating articles? This place can be very strange, sometimes. Best.......WBardwin 02:12, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a bunch!

Featured Fire!

Long time no see, Mr. Mare! I really appreciate seeing your excellent efforts to help me with my poor grammar! Best wishes!--MONGO 13:40, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's good to see someone around here still trying to save this website[1]...I really appreciate all your contributions!--MONGO 19:56, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Heheh, thanks MONGO — did you notice they were really de-tributions..? You're so nice and appreciative, I think I'll start removing whole sections :-) ! Seriously, it's a very cool article, I love reading about fires. From a safe place, you know ! Frutti di Mare 20:07, 17 August 2007 (UTC).[reply]
No, thank you...very much. You did a great job with the prose, which is my weak point. I have nominated it for featured article so hopefully others will like reading it as much as I have writing it...and watching you copyedit it!--MONGO 04:41, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Looks terrific...your efforts are very much appreciated.--MONGO 16:59, 23 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Again...it is featured because of your excellent copyediting and improvements to my traditionally lousy prose....I am deeply appreciative!--MONGO 17:01, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rubbish, MONGO, a light copy edit..! You did great work, I was delighted to see it got featured. Very well-deserved. [Frutti's shoes start to smoulder, he shifts nervously from foot to foot.] C'mon, let's get out of here! I wish to thank you for being supportive of my effort to regain my adminship. Though it was not successful, your support was still very much appreciated. I look forward to our next featured article collaboration as well. Let me know if there is anything I can do for you. Thank you!--MONGO 06:29, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A gift

[edit]

As you have been rather quiet lately, I thought you might appreciate a gift to encourage you back into the Wikipedia habit. It's here as I don't have permission to release under cc-by-sa. --T-RexxS (talk) 02:11, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Er.. so you keep an eye out for my edits? Do I know you, if you don't mind my asking? Are you a friend of MONGO's, perhaps? Or my great-aunts, the Bonkbuster sisters? [Checks out the gift.] Haha, cool critters! But my account name really refers to edible sea organisms, you know. Frutti di mare pizza and such. I was seeing a lot of the Mac OSX Pizzawheel of Death at the time. Frutti di Mare 19:10, 25 March 2011 (UTC).[reply]
Oh no, I would never be so rude as to track another editor's edits. I am, as you correctly surmised, a friend of a friend of the Bonkbusters, and your nom-de-plume was mentioned in some after-dinner conversation. As a keen scuba-diving theropod, I was naturally intrigued and resolved to look you up. You clearly have friends in high places, so I thought a gift would be appropriate, and I merely glanced at your contributions to reassure myself that you would be in to receive it. Cheers, --T-RexxS (talk) 22:05, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

For your wonderful copyediting and remarks regarding Grand Teton National Park! MONGO 11:57, 17 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
[Frutti is a little embarrassed. It wasn't anything much! ] Thank you for the exclusive star, MONGO! Haven't seen one of those before. I enjoyed my hike in that great landscape! Frutti di Mare 12:17, 17 May 2012 (UTC).[reply]

I have nominated Grand Teton NP for Featured Article! Come watch the fun here!...much thanks to your assistance...you've done a super job again! --MONGO 14:10, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Cool, I was beginning to wonder if you were busy IRL. But, oh crap, I too stumbled on "are dominate" but I lazily assumed it was a term of art, sorry MONGO! My sockmaster expects me to catch things like that. Bad Frutti. Frutti di Mare 15:21, 2 June 2012 (UTC).[reply]
Heh...well, the article is only at FAC because of all your hard work catching all my bumblings...to add to the fire, the National Park Service decided to update the URLs on a bunch of the pages, rendering a pile of refs dead! I think I have them all cleaned up now...grr..MONGO was getting angry...computer almost turned into can opener.--MONGO 01:37, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Slam computer on head of NPS! Hey, it struck me, when I saw Ling Nut's useful tips on your page; do you have any search tool for search/replace directly in the edit field? I use Zocky's script, it's great. I don't know how I ever managed without it. If you think it would be useful to you, you can for example copy it from my monobook.js page. Hmm... prying indiscreetly… I see the last time you edited your own monobook.js was in 2006. Maybe you're using a different skin now? But I should think Zocky's javascript script would work in 'em all.Frutti di Mare 14:47, 3 June 2012 (UTC).[reply]
MONGO is a dolt...I am a dolt. To do spell checks...MONGO copy paste entire mess of embedded refs and everything, slap it into WORD and hit spellcheck...spellcheck then take 2 hours and then go and manually correct. MONGO use mongobook.js...has no idea what a monobook.js IS...sounds technical, but try it and see. Can MONGO revert if he no likey or must computer be eaten?--MONGO 15:48, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
User:MONGO/monobook.js is just a subpage in your userspace. You would edit it to paste in Zocky's script as copied from User:Frutti di Mare/monobook.js — it's the only script I've got on the page, so you'll find it. :-) It's for searching in edit mode, not spellchecking. It'll manifest as an extra button in the row of buttons above the edit field, with a picture of a magnifying glass on it. Just eat the pasted text in the usual manner if you don't like the new button; not necessary to eat whole computer. [Frutti starts to gnaw absentmindedly on a corner of his MacBook. ] Frutti di Mare 17:58, 3 June 2012 (UTC).[reply]
Okay...MONGO do as commanded. Now go try it and see.--MONGO 18:16, 3 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The Teamwork Barnstar
Thanks for your teamwork on the Grand Teton National Park article. It is most appreciated! MONGO 18:11, 17 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hehe, cool! Where do you find all these pretty stars? Isn't it time they FA'd the article now? I don't know much about the procedure, though. If the principle is to wait until anybody who has had any criticism whatever checks back and acknowledges your fixes, then I shouldn't have thought any articles would ever get featured. But I dunno. Do they expect you to go after objectors and nag them if they don't return? That seems... I wouldn't like to have to do that. Anyway, never mind, it's surely all over bar the shouting. You're a really fine article-writer, MONGO! Frutti di Mare 11:23, 18 June 2012 (UTC).[reply]
I don't see a problem with notifying commentators if their concerns have been addressed, but I don't tend to do so until at least a week afterwards if they don't return to chime in on their own. I figure if they never return then they're busy or no longer interested.MONGO 13:33, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
