Unable to write Wikipedia article.[edit]

When processed the request as "Write a Wikipedia article about the movie Friendship's Death from 1987", I received the following reply. " I'm sorry, but I'm unable to find any information about a movie called "Friendship's Death" from 1987. It could be that the movie you are referring to is not well known or doesn't exist. Additionally, creating a Wikipedia article requires a level of expertise and knowledge on the topic that I do not possess as it's based on current and reliable sources. I recommend checking existing Wikipedia articles on similar movies or topics to get an idea of how they are structured and formatted, and if you would like to create an article, please refer to the Wikipedia's "Your first article" guide, which will help you to create an article that adheres to their guidelines." Why is the Chapt GPT prompt so long?[edit]

You wrote quite a long Chapt GPT prompt (see here). Is that necessary? I though Chat GPT would already know how a Wikipedia article is meant to look, so a prompt of "Write a Wikipedia article on XXX" would be sufficient? Perhaps you've already experimented and the more detailed prompt gave you a better response? EMsmile (talk) 12:17, 13 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your long prompt was "I want you to act as a Wikipedia article writer. I will give you a topic and you will create an article that adheres to the neutral point of view policy of Wikipedia to describe that concept. You should provide an extensive description of the history of the term and how it originated and came to be. You should include a section about its impact and influence. You should describe who first coined the term or when it first started being used. You should use extensive references from reputable sources, with a preference for news articles or peer reviewed content. You should avoid too many press releases or self-published materials. You will produce a references section at the end that provides links to the relevant sources, and format it in a way that is acceptable to Wikipedia. My first request is "Write a Wikipedia article about the term Weaponized Incompetence"" EMsmile (talk) 12:18, 13 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Why have it write articles?[edit]

It seems like you have given yourself an uphill battle here; creating an entire article from scratch is a uniquely poor fit for a LLM (since it is incapable of consulting external resources). You might want to take a look at User:JPxG/LLM demonstration -- it is astoundingly good at certain less-glamorous tasks like reformatting tables, cleaning up WP:PROSELINE, plot summary condensation, and the like, which don't require looking up references. jp×g 10:21, 14 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Using AI to generate Wikidata Qids[edit]

I've been experimenting with feeding ChatGPT/Bard thesis abstracts and asking for Wikidata Qids that could be used in a main subject statement on an existing Wikidata thesis item. When that didn't work I tried breaking down and asking for keywords first, and then Qids for those keywords - but I get wildly hallucinated results! I caught up with the Wikimania ChatGPT vs. WikiGPT session this morning where you mentioned feeding AI with training data to encourage it to generate appropriate metadata for Wikidata. Are you aware of any successful experiments asking it to generate appropriate Qids for the subject/s of a work, which could then be bulk uploaded into existing Wikidata items - it's a use case that didn't come up in the session.
