Image without license

[edit]

Unspecified source/license for File:Brachygastra.lecheguana2.jpg.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Brachygastra.lecheguana2.jpg.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 02:45, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Gaharrison94. Thank you for your additions to wasp articles. I work with the Wiki Education Foundation, and part of my job is support editors like you with your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that a lot of the images you uploaded as 'freely available' aren't actually available under licenses that are compatible with use on Wikipedia. For example, while File:B.lecheguana.galapagos2.jpg and File:B.lecheguana.galapagos.jpg are available under a Creative Commons license and , the license specifies that they are not available for commercial use without special permission. That is too restrictive a license for Wikipedia. File:B.lecheguana.nest.png has a similar problem, while the source for File:B.lecheguana.worker2.png and File:B.lecheguana.worker1.png doesn't (as far as I can tell) specify a license at all beyond saying 'freely available'. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Did you know...?

[edit]

Thank you for your recent contribution to Mischocyttarus mexicanus.

I wonder if you would like to consider submitting it as a candidate for the "Did you know...?" feature. DYKs (as they are commonly called) are short snippets taken from Wikipedia's newest articles and, if approved, appear on the Main Page. You can learn more about this at Wikipedia:Did you know.

Your article Mischocyttarus mexicanus appears to meet the criteria for submission as a DYK, but would be greatly improved if you expanded the lead section to briefly summarize the main points of the article. If you choose to submit a short (and interesting) fact from your article, please read the rules and the supplementary guidelines carefully. Please ask me if you have further questions.

According to the DYK tool, your article was created or expanded on October 17. DYKs must be nominated within 7 days of the creation or 5-fold expansion of the article, so if you choose to submit your article, please act quickly! Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 20:52, 20 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:B.lecheguana.galapagos.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [1], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
