Hi there. I ended up here because I saw your work over at Z-drag. It's a good start, but you might want to read this, which details how we use references and citations here. There is a handy template you can use for formatting citations. Use of the template is not required, but it does help. Here are a couple of examples:

This is the user page belonging to Galt 57[1]

Which looks like this when you're editing:

This is the user page belonging to Galt 57.

Or you can do it this way:

This is the user page belonging to Galt 57[2]

Which looks like:

This is the user page belonging to Galt 57.

If you're going to be using the same references within an article multiple times, it's generally best to use a 'named' reference, like this:

This is the user page belonging to Galt 57[3]. Galt 57 is a new user to Wikipedia,[3] and we expect to see many more contributions to come.[3]

Which looks like:

This is the user page belonging to Galt 57. Galt 57 is a new user to Wikipedia, and we expect to see many more contributions to come.

Using named references makes things simpler. For example, if you realize that you had a typo in the book title, you only have to correct it once. It also prevents needless repetition in reference lists.

Also, if you go to your preferences, you can select an editing option which gives you access to the citation templates with the click of a button.

If you have any questions, please feel free to drop by my talk page, and I'll be happy to help. Prince of Canada t | c 05:17, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
