Notability

[edit]

You should read Wikipedia:NFOOTY. It's a quick read. Walter Görlitz (talk) 06:47, 4 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

re: Rookie articles

I tend to wait until the player makes his debut. – Michael (talk) 23:53, 4 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

As far as publishing an article one week before the season starts. Unless you can find significant coverage for the player to meet WP:GNG (which is completely difficult), I would suggest not creating an article because we will find it and tag it for deletion. Just don't go too hard on yourself man. I understand you're new to Wikipedia, so I'm just trying to make sure you can get a better understanding of the guidelines regarding notable footballers/soccer players and past consensus put forth on WP:FOOTY. – Michael (talk) 00:04, 5 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2014 Indy Eleven season, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Andrew Stone (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Aaron Brockett requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. reddogsix (talk) 02:32, 20 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Aaron Brockett

[edit]

Hi,

To avoid immediate deletion of articles in progress, compose them in your sandbox, and move them to the mainspace only when you are done. Anything you post in the mainspace of Wikipedia is subject to immediate deletion if it meets any of the criteria for speedy deletion, which your draft did. Please also remember that being kind to others is universally good advice. Best wishes, Xoloz (talk) 02:54, 20 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The article Aaron Brockett has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Lack of notability -- subject appears to be a preacher at a medium-sized church. There's no evidence of any notability outside that community.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. 49ersBelongInSanFrancisco (talk) 08:29, 20 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Andrew Stone

[edit]

Since Andrew Stone meets WP:NFOOTBALL, I just asked the person who closed the deletion discussion a month ago to put the article back up. Is there anything your confused with as far as notability for soccer players go? – Michael (talk) 23:39, 17 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I did a month ago, but not anymore I feel I have a good understanding now, but thanks for asking.
Gamemaster eleven (talk) 03:25, 18 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Alright just making sure. The article's up now, but I also moved it to Andrew Stone (soccer) because Americans and Canadians are considered soccer players. – Michael (talk) 20:15, 19 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

FYI, It appears you didn't use the afd2 template when creating this page, and it was never listed on a daily log page. As a result, nobody who looks at AfD debates regularly ever saw it. I've relisted it, so for all practical purposes the "clock" on the debate restarts now. Have a good day. --Finngall talk 06:21, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Ford cars, a page you created, has not been edited in 6 months. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Thank you for your attention. HasteurBot (talk) 01:30, 7 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Gamemaster eleven. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Ford cars".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Ford cars}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save page", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 22:01, 7 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Invite to the African Destubathon

[edit]

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:14, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
