Seeking advice on wholesale suspected politically motivated changes

Hi GED UK. Thank you for your efforts over the years.

I came across your name when I was trying to see why The Drover's Wife and Mo7838 are making wholesale deletions to an article I have been trying for over a year to provide some balance to. Each time my additions end up being totally deleted. The bulk of the information that had been the article was straight cut & pastes from our State Govt's glossy brochures. Attempts to reword (removing the emotive adjectives/descriptors) by myself and other contributors have normally been deleted within minutes if not seconds.

Looking at the reasons given for the deletions (wholesale ones especially) do not actually match what has been deleted. So for someone not familiar with the topic the reasons provided look reasonable (POV etc) but do not match the text.

The editor the Drover's Wife appears to have a political bias towards the Liberal/National parties who are currently the NSW State Govt and Federal Govt. She has added close to 40 favourable/positive bios of Lib/Nat (and their fore-runner Country) party politicians and about 5 or 6 of the major opposite party - the ALP. With the ones done for the ALP they generally portray the person or party in a negative light such as the were expelled from the party for crossing sides and voting with the Lib/Nats or they were accused of corruption (not charged though).

More recently the editor tried (& succeeded I think) in deleting a recently set-up page 'Captain's Calls' listing self-professed sole judgements made by the Australian Prime Minister which have generated much media comment and possibly led to a recent leadership spill which he survived. It clearly is not a positive page but listing the decisions that he self-proclaimed his "Captain's Calls" would not seem to be a biassed topic - but I'm new to this.

There also seems to be a linkage to Mo7838 on deletions on this and other topics as well as to the editor Gareth who was warned off by WWGB.

Yet when you look at what was deleted (not put by me btw) it was several short sentences with citations to newspaper articles, was accurate and provided a balanced view. It did highlight discontent:

"Public submissions raised doubts about the capacity of the light rail system to handle peak-hour loads.

<ef>"CBD and South East light rail project - Submissions report" (PDF). affinitylive.com. Retrieved 16 July 2014.</ef>

Also, the light rail vehicles will have fewer seats than the buses that they are supposed to replace.

<ef>"Sydney tram plan will produce peak-hour chaos". smh.com.au. Retrieved 16 July 2014.</ef>

In an article titled “Open the transport arteries and breathe new life into our city.” Tony Recsei, president of Save Our Suburbs, commented: "As the project will significantly hinder existing transport facilities, it seems the $2.2 billion would be better spent on alternatives. This necessitates a system on a different grade, such as driverless underground heavy metro-style rail."

<ef>The Sydney Morning Herald December 22, 2014. p16.</ef>"

My reading of the soapbox page does not appear to match the text deleted. Am I missing something? Admittedly the prose could be polished up.

I have used both the talk pages on the Topic and Drovers Wife's talk page and others asking for explanation. I have pointed out that they have been deleting cited text - but they keep doing it.

They accuse POV when I quote newspaper/council/Parliamentary sources detailing the information presented. It seems to me to be an attempt to remove any balance from the page. Any text that does not come out glowingly is deleted.

Interestingly, one edit was done (new material) before the documents were released publicly leading me to suspect that an editor works as a TfNSW employee or as a consultant to the project. But I may be wrong.

Can you please give me some guidance on how to resolve this and if I am wrong in my thoughts.A M R Sydney (talk) 22:18, 26 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi there. Which article are you talking about? GedUK  11:56, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

Havi Ibrahim

Dear Ged UK, I've received an email from Wikipedia saying "The Wikipedia page Havi Ibrahim has been deleted on 4 March 2015 by Ged UK,". I've created Havi Ibrahim page with his filmography, I thought the page was good and it has many good reference attached to it from the BBC, Daily-mail and some other good and well-known websites. have is well known for his animated film "The Legend of Kawa the Blacksmith". I wonder if there is any thing to bring the page back or to improve it to make suitable as an article. please assist if there is any chance.I'm aware tat some times ago someone made some changes and some of the links were not working. But just recently I've gone through all links and made sure that everything was up to date. However, if you thing the page is not suitable for Wikipedia, i would really appreciate your support to make it suitable. Just to let you know, that the purpose of the page is not commercial at all, I'm only trying to support Kurdish film and increase the awareness of Kurdish Cinema. Kind Regards Kurd4films--Kurd4films 20:45, 4 March 2015 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kurd4films (talkcontribs)

Hi there. I deleted it following a discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Havi Ibrahim, where the decision was to delete. You can see the rationale given by each contributor, which will cover what you will need to do to make the article meet Wikipedia standards. You should look particularly at WP:NARTIST and WP:GNG.
I can recreate it for you on your personal space so you can work on it there until you're ready to move it to the main encyclopedia. GedUK  11:59, 5 March 2015 (UTC)

Patrick Awuah

Hi Ged.

I'd appreciate it if you could take a second look at the possible copyvio on Patrick Awuah, Jr. (Copyvio report). Thanks! 67.131.235.220 (talk) 23:00, 5 March 2015 (UTC)

@67.131.235.220: I see it's already been deleted and the ANI discussion, so I presume you don't need anything more from me. GedUK  13:17, 16 March 2015 (UTC)

No I don't think so, the issues we had with the page that caused the protection seem to have stopped. GedUK  11:47, 18 March 2015 (UTC)

Please help

Hello, user 24.205.90.47 (talk) has repetitively vandalized the information on the Summer Bishil page about her ethnicity on the Early Life section. Could you protect the page from that user or ban him from the page? Someone has already left message on his page warning him not to do this but he keeps doing this. Thanks!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Desipunjab5 (talkcontribs) 05:12, 9 March 2015 (UTC)

@Desipunjab5: I see that the page has been protected already. I presume you don't need anything else from me at this stage? GedUK  13:00, 10 March 2015 (UTC)

Hello. How do I report this person cuz they keep trolling and coming back after page protection expire? Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Desipunjab5 (talkcontribs) 21:31, 16 March 2015 (UTC)

Hi there. You can report vandals at WP:AIV, though this particular IP hasn't edited since the page was protected. The page is still protected. GedUK  11:55, 17 March 2015 (UTC)

Yes, I will try that. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Desipunjab5 (talkcontribs) 05:26, 20 March 2015 (UTC)

@Abhinand1234: Hi there. I'm not preprared to protect the page at this point with one eidt until there's been some actual discussion on teh talk page about whether this person should be included or not. Use the article talk page to start the discussion, and come to an agreement with other users about whether it shuold be in there or not. GedUK  12:00, 24 March 2015 (UTC)

Extend PC time? --George Ho (talk) 07:09, 20 March 2015 (UTC)

@George Ho: Sorry, I missed this one. Page has been semi protected as well until 10 April, and there've been no edits to teh page since the semi so it's hard now to judge the pending. I'd say no at this point, and it can get relisted at RfPP as necessary. GedUK  15:23, 24 March 2015 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thank you for protecting List of Thomas & Friends voice actors.

But, I have one question: When the protection expires, if the vandalism begins again do I request protection again or just deal with it? --ACase0000 (talk) 14:34, 24 March 2015 (UTC)

Up to you, but I'd recommend requesting protection again. Most likely it'll be for a longer period, eventually escalating to indefinite protection if necessary. GedUK  15:19, 24 March 2015 (UTC)
Ok Thank You for your Help! --ACase0000 (talk) 01:52, 25 March 2015 (UTC)
