Windows XP

[edit]

Hello, Geekynerdyguy1996

How do you do?

I am called Codename Lisa, a Wikipedia editor just like you. I am here to let you know that I reviewed your contribution to the Windows XP article and, as a result, had no choice but to revert most of them.

What I reverted generally fall into the following categories:

  • Violation of MOS:COMPNOW: You have used past tense for things that are still true and will always be. For example, you have wrote: "The default wallpaper, Bliss, was a photo of a landscape in the Napa Valley outside Napa, California". You are saying the default wallpaper is no longer a photo of landscape in Napa Valley, which is wrong.
  • Violation of MOS:FULLSTOP: "Sentence fragments in captions or lists should in most cases not end with a period." But you had added a lot of periods to sentence fragments.

Of course, not everything I did was a reversion; I did original corrections too. You see the results in revision 797839762.

If you have any question, I'll be at your service.

Also, please don't dwell on it too much. We Wikipedians revert each other a lot; then we talk and sort things out.

Best regards,
Codename Lisa (talk) 13:44, 29 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Codename Lisa, thank you much for those reverts! I guess I may have gotten slightly carried away. I saw a period on the end of some of them, and as a result, my gut told me that i should add more. I guess my gut can be wrong every once in a while. Perhaps I might need a bit of a refresher on my grammar. I did not mean to use past tense for certain things to make it sound like it was no longer true. I meant to use it as XP is an OS that is no longer supported. Maybe my english teacher must've spoiled me in highschool with such frequent grammar reminders, lessons, and practice assignments, so like I said, I may need a refresher! Perhaps even the most taught editors can be wrong. Thanks again! Geekynerdyguy1996 (talk) 14:59, 29 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, buddy. You can always look at the full have of the glass: Look at the combination of all your edits and Codename Lisa's reversions. It's still significant. I did a couple of changes there too, but nothing to brag about. FleetCommand (Speak your mind!) 17:46, 29 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you FleetCommand! Like, I said, even some of the most experienced (well at least it my view) can be wrong! my edits weren't really nothing to brag about either, so it's a bit of a win-win situation. Thank you again! Geekynerdyguy1996 (talk) 19:58, 29 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
