Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:David Assia

Hi Creffett, I saw you tagged my draft of David Assia's page for deletion. I am trying to understand the reasons behind it. I have invested a lot of time on the first draft to neutralize the voice of the content and make it as Wikipedia and friendly as possible. I am aware that it is not the easiest thing to make a page non-biased or promotional when it comes to people pages, this individual is as iconic for the high-tech startup scene as George Lucas is to movies. I would love to get your input and improve the page. Please get back to me. Jbzk17 (talk) 12:59, 2 June 2019 (UTC)

Help

Hi can you help me in this matter it looks like same user is using multiple accounts and editing pages like Chhota Bheem and Rajiv Chilaka. Regards. Sid95Q (talk) 15:59, 3 June 2019 (UTC)

@Sid95Q: If that's the case, please make a list of the suspected sock puppets and file a report at WP:SPI. If you need further help with that, please let me know, I'm happy to assist. creffett (talk) 16:02, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
@Sid95Q: I've dug into this...and I'm wondering if there are two different groups of socks. Here's my initial guesses:
Group 1: Anti-Rajiv Chilaka (accuses him and his works of copying Dragon Ball Z and others):
Pretty sure these three are all related - extremely similar edits and reverts.
Group 2: pro-Rajiv Chilaka (posts that several films did poorly, but that Chilaka's work was great):
Thoughts?creffett (talk) 17:13, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
Interesting. Well done . could be 2 different users but a revert here [7] still makes be believe that it's the same user. Sid95Q (talk) 17:25, 3 June 2019 (UTC)
@Sid95Q: Thanks. I recommend filing this as two separate SPIs and requesting checkuser, and if checkuser comes back that they're the same, then there's your answer. Either way, SPI for both of them. creffett (talk) 17:27, 3 June 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of User:Dussault/WRSP

Thank you for your work. I understand this was not the place place to host a draft and the quality of the draft and its presentation were not up to par. I've opened a draft in my sandbox. As a graduate student affiliated with this project, I want to write an article WRSP. The project is important for getting scholars to generate encyclopedic content on religious groups that are usually represented either by their supporters or detractors. It's already used as a source on multiple wikipedia articles and I think that it would be good for wikipedia to include an article on the project so that, when used as a source, it is possible for them to learn more about it.

There seems to have been concerns over copyright. How should I show that the person responsible for the site gives me permission to use some of its content? Also, especially since I am affiliated with the project, I want to avoid sounding like I'm promoting it. The first draft was a bit too much in the 'saying what we need to say' rather than 'saying what people want to hear' direction, but I mean to rewrite it so that it's more in line with wiki standards.

Thank you --Dussault (talk) 15:07, 4 June 2019 (UTC)

@Dussault: The biggest concern here is the copyright. Just because you have permission to use the content doesn't mean it's acceptable to copy it onto Wikipedia. See WP:COPY, WP:COPYVIO, and WP:DCM - in order to copy the content of the site, the site must have a compatible license or the author must have released the material into the public domain. Even if it is released, I recommend paraphrasing rather than copying. As for article content, if you're affiliated with the project, have a look at WP:COI for pointers on how (and how not) to write articles about things you're affiliated with. creffett (talk) 15:45, 5 June 2019 (UTC)

Guideline and policy news

  • An RfC seeks to clarify whether WP:OUTING should include information on just the English Wikipedia or any Wikimedia project.
  • An RfC on WT:RfA concluded that Requests for adminship and bureaucratship are discussions seeking to build consensus.
  • An RfC proposal to make the templates for discussion (TfD) process more like the requested moves (RM) process, i.e. "as a clearinghouse of template discussions", was closed as successful.

Technical news

  • The CSD feature of Twinkle now allows admins to notify page creators of deletion if the page had not been tagged. The default behavior matches that of tagging notifications, and replaces the ability to open the user talk page upon deletion. You can customize which criteria receive notifications in your Twinkle preferences: look for Notify page creator when deleting under these criteria.
  • Twinkle's d-batch (batch delete) feature now supports deleting subpages (and related redirects and talk pages) of each page. The pages will be listed first but use with caution! The und-batch (batch undelete) option can now also restore talk pages.

What is the proper way to add a documentary to the Qantas page?

Hello !! I just finished watching the recent documentary about the Qantas incident. I am not an expert with Wikipedia. Can you please show me how it should be done. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.101.233.181 (talk) 02:46, 9 June 2019 (UTC)

Here is the documentary, if you think it is good enough for your encyclopaedia:

deletion of ANIFA page

Dear Creffett

The page I am writing about a fashion brand ANIFA has been deleted (Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft:ANIFA&action=edit&redlink=1) The description and content has been very neutral with all references from reputable newspapers and media. Would you please advise how to make this approved instead of just delete the page? I have spent a lot of time writing it and finding all the references, I appreciate your help in getting this right.

Hi Creffett, this individual is a very important person for the high-tech industry as I mentioned before. Please suggest how to word this article in a way that will suit Wikipedia. Jbzk17 (talk) 13:56, 11 June 2019 (UTC)

Hi Creffett, my query pertains to the deletion of links I added to: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ambisonic_software Could you please let me know why I cannot add links to open source ambisonics software to a page which explicitly lists free/open source ambisonics software. The formatting was inline with all other links on the page. Or did I miss something here? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Leomccormack (talkcontribs) 13:15, 12 June 2019 (UTC)

Wedding Photography

Hey mate, Thanks for reviewing my edited article under Wedding Photography. I'm wondering why you deleted everything I wrote. The previous text under "Profession" was so boring and outdated, I wanted to write some new relevant content there. Sorry for the link too, but i wanted to give readers an idea or inspiration of what a wedding photographers website "should" look like to help them market their business. Looking forward to hearing from you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ChrisGarbacz (talkcontribs) 20:51, 11 June 2019 (UTC)

@ChrisGarbacz: Your changes were largely how-to content, which is specifically something Wikipedia is not, and the link wasn't appropriate to the article either (see WP:ELNOT). If you want to update the article, by all means go for it, just keep those rules in mind. creffett (talk) 20:55, 11 June 2019 (UTC)

BlaineA73 pittsburgh knights speedy deletion exemption

I am a unpaid intern working with the pittsburgh knights. I was asked to work on the wikipedia page for them. This is the first time creating a page on wiki. I accidently clicked the piad to edit button when creating. That is my fault. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BlaineA73 (talkcontribs) 15:26, 14 June 2019 (UTC)

European International University

Dear Creffett,

my page was deleted and i dont quite understand as the same content was not deleted earlier for this reason but for only inadequate sources. i also edited the page content based on other top institution's page that has been approved. can you advise why the page was deleted and i would like to retrieve the data to improvise and resubmit again. appreciate your input. thank you Raj2828 (talk) 02:51, 18 June 2019 (UTC)

@Raj2828: The article was deleted because all it did was list the university's programs and recognitions without showing why it was notable, and it generally looked more like an advertisement than an actual article. Additionally, a significant portion of the article was copied from a website, which is not permitted. First, I recommend reading WP:NSCHOOL to determine whether the subject is notable. If it is, you may recreate the article, but you probably can't get the data back since it was a copyright violation. Also, if you are connected to the university, you MUST disclose that as explained at WP:COI, and if you are an employee of the university you must also follow the guidelines at WP:PAID. creffett (talk) 12:58, 18 June 2019 (UTC)

Dear Creffett,

thanks for controlling new pages and for your welcome! I saw you tagged my draft of Vitesy page for deletion, the scope of the article is not promotional, I think that the organization is innovating the smart home IoT world and deserves to be mentioned as one of the biggest innovators in the market of air purification as a green organization that use plants to purify indoor air instead of HEPA filters, I would like to have your feedback on why it is promotional and how to improve the page so that it can be published without infringing any of the WP guidelines.

Thank you so much!

Speedy deletion of MA$HRVA sandbox

Respected Sir, Regarding the deletion tag which you have attached to my sandbox, I have given my explanation to the concerned deletors and they gave me the advice to make corrections in my writing. I have done those corrections and rewritten my sandbox by avoiding any advertisement and exaggeration. Previously I had written a big article but this time after receiving the advice I had written only three lines which were factual (you may check accordingly). But your authority has again placed the speedy deletion tag due which my article was deleted. Please inform what are the lacunas which have remained now? I will try to improve that. If you have any objection on particular line you may tell accordingly on my talk page. This time I have already referred to existing wikipedia pages of Indian Guinness World Record Holders. I hope the page I am going to submit is more notable. Please inform. Thanks. MA$HRVA (Talk) Write Right!! 04:50, 20 June 2019 (UTC)
