Welcome!

Hello, Geo pradeep, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}} before the question. Again, welcome!

PS: Thanks for your thoughtful and sourced contributions. However, the use of the Wikipedia itself as a reference, which you appear to have only done the once. is discouraged, as the external links pointing to Wikipedia articles are redundant and it does not meet our definition of Wikipedia:Reliable sources. Duplicate images uploaded

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Banathertham falls.JPG. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:Banatheertham.JPG. The copy called Image:Banatheertham.JPG has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 13:00, 22 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading images/media such as Image:Banathertham falls.JPG to Wikipedia! There is however another Wikimedia foundation project called Wikimedia Commons, a central media repository for all free media. In the future, please consider creating an account and uploading media there instead. That way, all the other language Wikipedias can use them too, as well as our many sister projects. This will also allow our visitors to search for, view and use our media in one central location. If you wish to move previous uploads to Commons, see Wikipedia:Moving images to the Commons. Please note that non-free content, such as images claimed as fair use, cannot be uploaded to the Wikimedia Commons. Help us spread the word about Commons by informing other users, and please continue uploading!

Drought

[edit]

Couple of quick tips. One, replacing internal links with external links is considered detrimental. External links should be reserved for footnotes and the External links sections in nearly all cases - Check out Wikipedia:Citations for a guide. Two, signing Mainspace articles is always detrimental. [1] That said, a source for the section was warranted. I didn't see any explicit mention of the linked piece's publication or recognition, however, and it did not explicitly mention drought, so I replaced it with a footnote to [2], a major media outlet that explicitly discusses cloud seeding in the context of drought. Orphaned non-free image (Image:BPRadhakrishna.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:BPRadhakrishna.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:34, 4 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Non-free use disputed for Image:Mskrishnan.jpg

[edit]
Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Mskrishnan.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted after seven days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 03:27, 6 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
