Template Boxes

So what exactly do you need help with? Using userboxes? Or making containers for them? I don't understand exactly what you need help with, but if you can be more specific I would be very happy to help with whatever. During this process, is it okay if I edit your user page to help you with whatever? Also, if you think it may help, you may want to view the source of my user page to see how I did something. To create a new template, either visit Template:yournewtemplatesname and create it there, or create it inside a subdirectory of your user page, such as User:Gephart/templates/yournewtemplatesname. I would suggest the former for a template that will be used in Wikipedia namespace, and that is serious or Wikipedia-related. For a template to use on your own user page, for a userbox, or for a less serious template, I would suggest doing to inside your own user pages namespace. To create your new template, you will either have to know HTML well, or base your new template off of a pre-existing one. Either way, you need to know a little bit of HTML. Recently I created a new userbox template, which I display on my userpage. It is located at User:Zappa.jake/templates/pentagon. If you are creating a userbox, feel free to use that as your base, and modify the code to make it what you want. Otherwise, just find an existing template that looks somewhat similar to what you want to create, and modify it to suit your needs. I hope this has helped. -zappa 21:44, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

Excel type boxes

Hi, i dont mean to bug you, but i dont know what to find what i am looking for, and your an admin, so i thought you might be able to help. Do you know where i can get information regarding the construction of boxes on wikipedia pages? Like the excel type boxes with different columns and rows. Edina and Edina Related Articles

Nice to see the Edina and area articles you've been working on! I'm from there (class of 2001) and currently living there again while attending Grad school (UMN). I'm also a photographer so one of these fine spring days I'm going to try and shoot some photos for the articles (Jerry's, Centennial Lakes, Edina Schools, City Hall, Edinborough, the old mill site, Bremar, 50th&France, etc) so if there's any particular local sites you want photos of please let me know and I'll add them to my list. Secondly, see my notes on the Pohlad controversy, he definately lives in Edina. I did hack out a basic OLG article today based on your link from the education section on the Edina page. I also agree that the Edina Public Schools need a seperate article from the city. Let me know what you would like help with. I do also have copies of the "From Settlement to Suburb" book and a video tape history of Edina done by the historical society that can be used as references if you need one for something. I've put a list of things I plan to take photos of on my user page. I did add a few things to your list such as the Grange hall and I'm sure I'll come up with others. As far as photos of EHS go, it's pretty much going to be a mess until October so I think I'll hold off with that, I have been taking construction photos at both ECC and EHS every few months though so I do have a lot of those to choose from. I'm going to grad school at the U of M and living in Edina so taking photos is no problem for me. I'm keeping my eye out for a nice day. --BenFranske 01:20, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

I noticed you joined WikiProject Minnesota pretty soon after I sent the invite -- great timing! As far as the format of Hopkins, Minnesota goes, it looks good. If you have a specific format that you want to use for city articles, you might want to recommend that format directly on the talk page. I don't know exactly what format you're proposing, but any expansion of the articles is better than no expansion. You asked in the history of the Bloomington, Minnesota article if Bloomington has an official seal. I'm not sure about a seal, per se, but the city has a logo. You can find it on the city newsletter, the Bloomington Briefing, at the top right corner of the page. (This is a PDF file, so it's probably not easy to get the image unless you do a screen capture.) Phish

I've read the article. There's no criticism of Phish. Even on The Beatles or The Beach Boys contain criticism. There's none here. Not one trace. And I like Phish. And there's a ton of irrelevent information to the casual reader, about as much equal to, say, the Brian Wilson page (Which itself is hopelessly POV, and I've changed a few words from "realized" to "believed", etc. because mono mixing is not a "realization" as better than stereo, its an opinion, etc.). TGI Friday's Cheddar and Bacon Potato Skins

In retrospect, I should have nomiated it for speedy deletion under CSD-A8, but since it's more than 48 hours old, it seems too late to take that route now. Hello. According to standard Wikipedia conventions found in Wikipedia:Manual of Style, you're using too many capitals in section headings. Please see my recent edits to Byerly's, Benilde-St. Margaret's School, and some of your other articles. It shouldn't say "External Links" with a capital "L", but "External links". We recorded it ourselves, in a couple different locations: The drums at McNally-Smith in Saint Paul, and I think all the rest was at Edward Davidson's house in western Minneapolis (he's our former guitar player.) U-Dub

Two questions regarding pronouciation (please dont take offense to these, its not the point). 1) How do you phonetically say it, and 2) what is your cultural and ethnic background? By that i mean, where are you from originally. I have only heard it refered as U-Dub but that definitally doesnt mean that that is the only way it is said, so please let me know. I pronounce it just like the abbreviation it is: "you double-you" - I know some people do pronounce it "U-dub", but calling it that in mixed company is likely to get you some strange looks I think. I'm of European descent, born in California, I've lived in Washington for 25 of my 30 years, lived in Seattle since I started attending UW, 13 years ago. badJPEG tag

I see you've removed the {{badJPEG}} tag that I've placed on some images you've uploaded, saying that there is no non-JPEG source available. While this may be true, it's irrelevant; some other Wikipedian could redraw the image and save it as a PNG or an SVG. In fact, that's usually what is done. As a rule of thumb, images such as maps, flags, charts, diagrams, and so forth should be saved as SVGs, or if that's unavailable, as PNGs. Notable Alumni

What automatically makes a person notable? Just because a person is not known on a national scale does not make them insignificant. If a high school produces a pro athlete, I believe it is worth noting, as the odds of one person making a big league roster in any sport are extremely slim. Which one of these is it: a very short article providing little or no context (CSD A1), contains no content whatsoever (CSD A3), consists only of links elsewhere (CSD A3) or a rephrasing of the title (CSD A3).

It's not A1, because it's enough to establish notability and make it into a proper stub, it's got content, it's not only links, and it's not a rephrasing of the title. It's not CSD - it's a substub. The reaction should not be, let's delete it, rather, let's turn it into a stub. I always try and add useful edit comments ever since I started working for the mediation cabla (not that it exists of course) and found how frustrating it is to follow the development of an article or edit war if theres no or pointless comments.

Creating categories

If you know that a category you want to create is not already in exsistence then add it to all the pages that need the category. You will then see that the category shows up in red. That is standard. Now click on that category and you will everything in that category. If you know what main categories that category you just created falls under then add them.

Now if that sounds a bit complicated then you can create the category first then add it to the pages that need this category.

Anyway, since you haven't replied I thought I'd explain why I asked the question. I can't see any evidence that an image with that name was ever in any other articles and it is my normal practice to check this before uploading any image. Although I acknowledge it is possible I made a mistake I think your note was unreasonably curt, but I'm probably just being ridiculously sensitive. If an image was lost due to my actions I'd like to know what of so I can go about replacing it myself: I however can't see any activity prior to my 28 June upload. Thanks in advance for your help. List of Minnesota State High School League State Championships (Winter)

Thanks for doing all the championships in the various sports and winters on Boys hockey I recall in the early 1990s the use of tier 1 and tier 2 champions for about 2 years before finally switching to A and AA. i noticed that you listed only A and double A i think it(am not positivie) but years 92 and 93 as the "tier years" thanks again Smith03 22:12, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

Re:Templates

Hi! To get the code of templates, you go to the template directly, e.g.- Template:University of Washington, and then hit the "edit" button as you would on any other page. To create a new template, you can type Template:NameOfTemplate into the search box, and then when it says it doesn't exist, you can create it as you would any other new page.
