How do you like this? Do look for mistakes and other ways of improvement - especially, let's try extending it back to 1912 (the 1910s are a rather murky period of Albanian history, which is why I shied away from the task myself).
Also, I should caution against having Socialist People's Republic of Albania as an article distinct from History of Communist Albania, because that risks creating a content fork. Right now, all the content in the first article can safely be merged into the second. Biruitorul 00:18, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent. Glad to hear it, and good work. Biruitorul 18:32, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Just one question, though. I originally noted Hoxha assumed office in 1946 so as to avoid confusion, given that Albania became communist in 1944. Did Albania have a prime minister in 1944-46? If not, then I would suggest restoring that note, or turning it into a footnote. Biruitorul 18:38, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, OK. Then that's settled. My other question was about Myfit Libohova - he appears on the main list but not on our template. How come? Biruitorul 18:46, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the explanation. On Kosovo/Kosova: well, you're right that we Romanians have closer ties to you Albanians than to the Slavic peoples, and I appreciate and value those ties, both linguistic and ethnic. However, we are also very close to our Orthodox brothers the Serbs and have been so throughout our history, so that is a special case. I don't like Milošević and I think what he did there was terrible (even if some of the reports of genocide were inflated by NATO propaganda). I also think Albanians, forming the great majority of the population, should have some say in running the province. Nevertheless, it holds -- and let us not forget its full name, Kosovo i Metohija, which reminds us of the plentiful monastic lands once owned by the Serbian Orthodox Church before the vehemently anti-Serbian Tito seized them and opened them to Albanian settlement -- a vitally important place in the Serbian consciousness, going back to 1389 and beyond. While the Milošević regime could not be trusted to rule over Albanians, I believe today's Serbian government, fragile though it is, is in a much better position to do so. Let us also not forget the position of the remaining Serbs there, who already live in a state of siege and would doubtless be forced to flee in the event of independence. Many of their ancient monasteries have already been laid waste, and while I could in theory foresee some legitimate methods of gaining independence, I do not believe the international community should be influenced by the violence already unleashed, and the threat of further violence, led by former members of the KLA, itself deeply connected with drug and terrorism networks. Anyway, most of what I know about Kosovo comes from Serbs, but if you think I'm misstating the case, I welcome an Albanian view. Biruitorul 00:53, 24 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Nuages[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Nuages, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Nuages seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Nuages, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Speedy deletion of Nuages[edit]

A tag has been placed on Nuages requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. -- WebHamster 01:35, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Pjeter Bogdani banknote.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Pjeter Bogdani banknote.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Thaddeus (Family Guy)[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Thaddeus (Family Guy), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Thaddeus (Family Guy). Image source problem with Image:Fatmir Sejdiu.jpg[edit]

Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Fatmir Sejdiu.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:20, 18 February 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Superm401 - Talk 03:20, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pristina / Prishtina / Priština[edit]

Please do not move pages if there is no discussion, let alone consensus, to do so. We may discuss, but overtly bold moves tend to only cause edit-warring. Thanks. —Kurykh 08:50, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please read Wikipedia:Naming conventions (common names) before further responding to the issue. Thanks. —Kurykh 08:51, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Common in English, not Albanian. This is the English Wikipedia. In English, "Pristina" is used, admittedly for reasons unknown. What people in Pristina/Prishtina use is irrelevant for article titles, only in article intro. —Kurykh 08:55, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You still seem confused. I keep talking about common English usage, and you give me official government usage. The former takes precedence on the English Wikipedia. —Kurykh 08:59, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

About Iran, I say that incidents regarding Iran before the name change should use the name Persia, and everything after, Iran. Whether Wikipedia usage reflects that I do not know, as I am not into Iranian/Persian topics. But perhaps someone more fitting and appropriate is the Danzig/Gdansk naming convention that is now pretty much the binding precedent on Wikipedia. —Kurykh 09:02, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

For one thing, newspapers do not dictate common usage. However, I agree with your main premise: when common usage shifts in favor of Prishtina, we will then change it to reflect that. Until then, Pristina holds. —Kurykh 09:04, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have no opinion on whether or when it will shift, as I am neither Albanian nor Serbian (I'm actually Chinese). But when common English usage does indeed shift decisively to Prishtina, then you can count on my support for the change. —Kurykh 09:07, 18 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, there is not... You don't even understand what the term "Thrco-Illyrian" means... And, I will stop assuming good faith if you tamper with articles written before the 2008 Kosovo UDI... All your sources seem to be based on Albanian POV... Regarding reversions[1] made on February 19 2008 to Kosovo[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. Kurykh 06:07, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Since Kosovo is under an article parole and revert warring on that page at this time is particularly disruptive, I've blocked you for 48h. This is also because of your disruptive messing around with the Pristina article and your overall combative attitude, evidenced also in your latest postings to Kurykh. I'm also putting you on notice that you may be placed under a long-term revert limitations under WP:ARBMAC if problems continue. Fut.Perf. 06:53, 19 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why is the reason you reverted my minor change about ottoman period?[edit]

I believe I have better information on this era than the person who wrote the previous edition?

I will edit a new section about the turks in Kosova, however the minor change was about the subjective comments about the reasons of Kosovar muslim conversion. Please look at my minor edit one more time. thanks

As a half shiptar from my mother side who escaped from Serbian-Russian army in 1877, I still think I owe something to my father's side. thanks anyways,

http://www.arnavut.com/turkiyede.php - Those elites were not Turks only. It says here amongst 215 grand viziers during the entire Ottoman history (1299-1923), 35 of them were Albanian. Do you think Austrian based history is accurate?

Still cannot agree calling Ottomans as a heavy burden for the troubles in the decline of the empire due to the self-protection of the empire's interests by the "elite", despite the fact that all those people lived in peace for centuries and actually preserved their culture. I am sorry for what they couldn't do about the albanian language based schools. We still having the same troubles with Kurds, and making the same mistake about their language, but we do not kill them as Serbs did to albanians, or Saddam did to Kurds. I read this whole article talking only about that period: (no english translation, sorry)(http://www.arnavutum.com/modules.php?name=Kose_Yazilari&file=yazdir&sid=25). I hope everything will be much better in the future, especially with closer relationship between our countries. Thank you for keeping an eye on the article here.

Placenames in Kosovo[edit]

Hi Getoar. Please, before making or discussing changes to the names used in all Kosovo-related topics, take the time to carefully review our general naming conventions and the specific ones on geographic names, using English & settlements.

In short, they ask us to reflect common English usage (which will often be a local name, or one of them; but not always), because those are the forms our intended readership of English speakers would most easily recognize.

Furhtermore, for the specific purposes of name usage in the English Wikipedia, the language and usages of the population of Kosovo, Serbia or China are simply irrelevant. Local usage only becomes important as a tie-breaker of sorts when there's no common English usage at all. This is not often the case of Kosovo-related articles, for there was a significant amount of literature and printed material on it even before the 1999 war, and there is much, much more since 1999.

For a number of historical reasons, the English language has adopted the Serbian forms. We merely restrict ourselves to reflect this usage. Wikipedia is not a venue to advocate the adoption of the Albanian names by the English language.

Bear in mind that Wikipedia is descriptive, not prescriptive. We cannot declare what an English usage should be or will be, only what it currently is.

The names we use in the English Wikipedia will be modified only if the English usage itself changes to something else, or if our current naming conventions themselves are amended to "reflect local usage instead of English one".

If you want to change the current naming conventions of the English Wikipedia, you're free to propose your desired modifications at the appropriate talk page (for example, at Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions :-) However, while the current conventions remain in place, they should be respected: they are an official policy of the English Wikipedia.

Of course, I can imagine that Kosovo's declaration of independence may well induce a change in English usages, with the Serbo-Croatian names being phased out and the Albanian ones adopted. If/when that happens, the English Wikipedia should reflect that change, but not before.

If after carefully reading the naming conventions you still have any doubts on this topic, don't hesitate to ask me about it :-) To keep discussions coherent, I would appreciate if you could post any answer here, in your talk page, please. I will see your post :-) Best regards, Ev (talk) 00:44, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. This is a notification message you let you know that your behavior in regards to Kosovo has been listed on Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Disruption on Kosovo article, potential abusive sockpuppets. In a case like this one, even if your edits are good faith, please try to develop consensus for them on the talk page. If clear consensus emerges, then your version will be kept. I would also recommend presenting what you told me to the AN/I, although I will do so for you if you do not. Thanks, SorryGuy  Talk  22:37, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
