A tag has been placed on Draft:SKI TV, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed maintenance templates from Geoffrey A. Harrison. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Please see Help:Maintenance template removal for further information on when maintenance templates should or should not be removed. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. Also, if you have an article that isn't ready for Wikipedia, you can work on it in your own sandbox space. Articles posted to the main space need to meet the qualifications for publication, which is why the templates are needed to note the issues. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 01:43, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon

Hello Gfdiamond. The nature of your edits, such as the one you made to Geoffrey A. Harrison, gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Gfdiamond. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Gfdiamond|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 02:00, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I am the author of this page. I do not have an employer. I am simply putting up my page as a link as I am a former BBC journalist and correspondent and am listed on the
BBC former journalists page. I am self employed, so I do not have an employer to mention and I am not being paid. The radio stations I created from scratch in Australia changed the course of Australian broadcasting history, so I believe they are notable to mention. Also, I have created SKI TV which is now a major world
television channel. I don't see why this is not allowed to be mentioned on Wikipedia. Please advise? Regards, Geoffrey A. Harrison. Gfdiamond (talk) 02:05, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please read WP:AUTO. That will explain the issue. Also, if you plan to write future articles, please use the links in the Welcome message at the top of this page, as it will help you write properly-formatted articles. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 02:08, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, but I have tried to make the article very factual. I cannot understand why this has been flagged for speedy deletion, as there are only facts stated. Please advise? Gfdiamond (talk) 02:15, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello Rsjaffe,
Can I address the issues below:
This article may need to be rewritten to comply with Wikipedia's quality standards. (June 2022) A. Not too sure about this.
The topic of this article may not meet Wikipedia's notability guideline for biographies. (June 2022) A. I believe this is notable, as I have created actual radio and TV
stations, not just appeared on them as in TV series, etc.
This biographical article is written like a résumé. (June 2022) A. I see biographical backgrounds all the time on Wiki, I don't see this as any different.
Some of this article's listed sources may not be reliable. (June 2022) A. All the links I have provided are reliable and can be checked.
This article may have been created or edited in return for undisclosed payments, a violation of Wikipedia's terms of use. It may require cleanup to comply with Wikipedia's content policies, particularly neutral point of view. (June 2022) A. There are no undisclosed payments as I would have to pay myself. Gfdiamond (talk) 02:22, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, please bear with me, I am trying to get my head around the info boxes, they are very complicated.
Regards, Geoff. Gfdiamond (talk) 02:57, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Reliable sources need to be written by someone other than you and need to be published by an organization that has rules about verification, such as a newspaper (some newspapers are more reliable than others). Youtube videos are not reliable objective sources.
Rewriting according to wikipedia standards. Follow the links in the welcome message I put at the top of the page to learn about page layout and the creation process, as well as talking about an article wizard that can walk you through the process.
You need to meet WP:GNG standards for the article to be accepted. Read WP:GNG to learn about that. — rsjaffe 🗣️ 03:05, 2 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, yes, getting to understand this now. Thanks for your help.
Regards,
