Wikia Skin[edit]

The layout is rather confusing, can't even really find where the History is for the talk pages.--iGeMiNix 23:41, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I can't find it either. *calls Jimbo* Gfoley4 Wanna chat? 23:47, 1 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Found it, just go to Tools on the lower right and click on it for History.--iGeMiNix 00:04, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ahhh, thank you *hangs up on Jimbo* Gfoley4 Wanna chat? 00:14, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

YEAH GIANTS W00T!--iGeMiNix 02:32, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, yes they did. p.s if you want an edit conflict go to 2010 San Francisco Giants season. Gfoley4 Wanna chat? 02:40, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Some of your street view links are being reverted[edit]

Oknazevad (talk · contribs) has been reverting some of your additions of street view links to stations, claiming search engine results can't be linked under WP:ELNO. An example of this is Jamaica (LIRR station), and I have since restored that instance. Could you please check to make sure that there haven't been any more reversions, especially the bigger stations? Street View, while image quality can be poor, is a handy tool.— Train2104 (talk • contribs • count) 00:44, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It would be best to let the editor know that it is allowed to have those links, but looking at his talk page, he seems to have civility issues.--iGeMiNix 00:49, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict)Yes I saw his/her's edit at Jamaica and I thank you for undoing it. The only other edit that I've found was on the same day to New York Pennsylvania Station. I undid that one too. Gfoley4 Wanna chat? 00:51, 3 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
FYI, there was a discussion in March about the links. Gfoley4 Wanna chat?

Deletion of Niel Gnesin[edit]

I created an entry for my very good friend, Niel Gnesin and it has been deleted. I have no idea why this has happened. Niel is a fine and upstanding member in the entertainment industry. If I broke a rule I'm truly sorry. I found this out from Niel when he came into my office after a long road trip. I had told him what I had done as far as posting and he went on your site and found his name in red along with a banner telling everyone that this article had indeed been deleted. I would like to know the reason for this and if this can not be resolved I would like his name deleted as well. Hoping to hear from you soon. Cordially, Frank Blue —Preceding unsigned comment added by Flight37 (talkcontribs) 19:35, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Honestly, I am not sure that I put on a tag on that article I did. The page was deleted for WP: G11 because in the view of an admin is was deemed to promote your friend. I have no problem with you create the article again, just make sure it does't promote Neil. You could also ask the deleting admin (HJ Mitchell) why is was deleted. Gfoley4 Wanna chat? 20:30, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

G3?[edit]

this article makes no sense so it would be G1 (patent nonsense). I was wondering why you said it would be G3 (pure vandalism or blatant hoax). Inka888ContribsTalk 22:40, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I did it because when you translate it, the article it turns out to be pure vandalism. Gfoley4 Wanna chat? 22:44, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think articles that are not in English would constitute as G1. Inka888ContribsTalk 22:55, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I probably should have left it. Well, happy editing! Gfoley4 Wanna chat? 23:01, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, it was actually deleted G3 with the explanation you provided. Inka888ContribsTalk 23:08, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Note that WP:G1 specifically excludes "coherent non-English material, and poorly translated material". — Train2104 (talk • contribs • count) 01:54, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I was watching your talk page so no reason for talkbacks. Inka888ContribsTalk 02:48, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry. Gfoley4 Wanna chat? 03:36, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It's fine. I'm actually going to work that into my edit notice so people will know. Inka888ContribsTalk 05:56, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

SWAT pic[edit]

Why the change from the Police team to the FBI HRT? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Battlemedic345 (talkcontribs) 23:49, 6 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have no clue what you are talking about. Gfoley4 Wanna chat? 23:54, 6 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article about "SWAT"... I may have misread, I'm a bit of a noob. On or around the 30th, the primary picture for the page was changed from a civilian SWAT team, to an FBI Hostage Rescue Team. I'm just wondering if you did that, and why. Help?

Battlemedic345 (talk) 07:27, 7 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I did not change the image. An Ip changed it with this edit just after me. I don't know why they did it. Gfoley4 Wanna chat? 14:21, 7 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Google Street View Links e.g. Media (SEPTA station)[edit]

I noticed your link to Google Street View at Media (SEPTA station). I'd put in a couple of similar links a couple of years ago, e.g. at Philadelphia City Hall, but gave up after a couple. My reasons were probably (if I can remember!) that a) it was fairly hard to do; b) I wasn't sure that anybody would ever see them, and 3) somebody might get offended (the anti-spam crew?) and remove them all anyway. I'm just wondering about your experience with this. Do any of these apply. BTW, I think the Philly City Hall link is still there. Any feedback appreciated. Smallbones (talk) 00:28, 7 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, still there. * Google Street View Smallbones (talk) 00:31, 7 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I have been adding these links since about March starting with New York City Subway, Long Island Rail Road and working my way to Philly. I am pretty sure that it complies with WP:ELNO as it links to Google Maps not Google. There was also a discussion about the links back in March. No one as really removed them either. (anti-spam police) Also see User: Gfoley4/Google Maps Street View. Gfoley4 Wanna chat? 00:38, 7 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The discussion looks very good as does Template:Gsvlink and User: Gfoley4/Google Maps Street View. Part of my intertest is related to WP:NRHP, where a few of these links might be worthwhile - but there might be some opposition to linking all 80,000 sites this way! :o) I may bring it up at wt:nrhp if I can figure out the right context. Smallbones (talk) 03:24, 7 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good. Gfoley4 Wanna chat? 03:38, 7 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

what is your issue with my edits to the article? I added a legit picture to the article that I myself took, and added some MINOR stylistic changes. Explain yourself. Carolyn Baker III (talk) 01:22, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The only reason I reverted for was the use of "fuck handles". Feel free to add the image back and other constructive edits back. Gfoley4 Wanna chat? 01:26, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I took out the segment about fuck handles until I can find a source for it. Glad we could work this out so quickly. Carolyn Baker III (talk) 01:28, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

My adding of my own personal information to the Kings High School Page[edit]

I am Michael Robert Plagge and I graduated from Kings High in 1991... why did you delete that???? It was true, factual and verifiable. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.102.131.6 (talk) 01:29, 8 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah it's cool, like it better then your old one since the colors distract my eyes as much. Also the picture on Smallpox is probably one of the most uncomfortable pictures I have seen on Wikipedia.--iGeMiNix 04:13, 10 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Ewwww, and it's a featured picture! Gfoley4 Wanna chat? 04:42, 10 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that's how I saw it. I was checking out the feature pictures and that came up and I was like WTF.--iGeMiNix 11:56, 10 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Timothy Allison[edit]

Hello,

Would it be appropriate to write an article about Tim Allison? He ran against Elton Gallegly, but lost. He is mentioned in the article "United States House of Representatives elections in California, 2010, but there is no separate article on him.

Thanks, 76.89.173.120 (talk) 05:23, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am really not sure. If you create an account you could make the article. But, make sure that the article has sources, as it could be deleted under WP:BLPPROD if no sources are present. Gfoley4 Wanna chat? 05:29, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think you should wait for Patar's comment before trying. Gfoley4 Wanna chat? 05:31, 9 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

New York City Subway service references[edit]

In the subway articles, please do not create any "bare" (unlinked) references to service letters or numbers, as in: "1 train". And if you see any, replace it with a link to the service, even where it is mentioned multiple times in the article, as in: [[1 (NYCS)|1]]

Here is why:

It frequently happens that we need to find every reference to a service. An example is when the MTA eliminated the V and W trains, re-routed the M and Q trains, and so forth. When that happens, many articles — and often, not just the obvious ones — need to be updated.

Unfortunately, you can't just search on a bare digit or letter. You would get too many false positives. That is why every reference to the service needs to be linked. It is the only hope of finding all of them, when the need arises to either check them for accuracy or to make a significant update. Marc Shepherd (talk) 15:44, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I have been following Acps110's talk page so I saw your note about this same issue. But, I didn't see where any of my edits did what you are talking about. I will look out for bare service when I get back to NYCS. (I am currently patrolling MBTA stations.)GƒoleyFour (GSV) 22:23, 17 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrolled[edit]

What does it mean to be autopatrolled? I noticed you nominated me for that permission. Raymie (tc) 20:06, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It means that when you create a new page it doesn't have to be patrolled by another editor. Since I saw that you creating a lot of articles not needing patrol I nonimated you for the user right. Joe Random Contact Me 20:33, 19 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edit by User:JHH755 on my talk page[edit]

Hi there Gfoley4, I saw that you reverted this, probably thinking that it was a nonsense addition. I've readded it; I don't speak Chinese but I have recently reverted an edit by that editor and will attempt to communicate with them on that specific subject. Of course, if they don't understand English it's a lost cause, but messages previously left on their talk page seem to imply that they do understand it. Please do feel free to revert vandalism to my talk page regardless, but I wanted to let you know that I don't think this was vandalism. Thanks. Changes to List of Middlebury College alumni[edit]

Although some of my recent changes to "List of Middlebury College alumni" may not have been constructive, I believe many of the edits to be constructive. I've added links to many more relevant pages, added photos, and reorganized the content headings to make more sense. Could you please remove the specific changes you take issue with, but leave the productive changes I have made? Thanks. Brit2010Brit2010 (talk) 02:15, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I only reverted for the "Professor Boner" comment (or something like that). How about just being constructive All the time. I will put back other edits. →GƒoleyFour (GSV) 02:19, 23 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Please reconsider your wording in AfD discussion[edit]

You recently voted in an AfD discussion on the article Green Home. Since your vote, I have significantly rewritten the article. In light of this, I would ask that you reconfigure the wording in your vote to be more relevant to the current state of the article, whether that means changing your vote or not. Thank you for your time. SilverserenC 20:27, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Good work fixing the article so it's not a how-to guide. I've changed my !vote to Keep. →GƒoleyFour (GSV) 23:10, 27 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Correct way to place Google Street View links in articles[edit]

Just letting you know, the correct way to place a Google Street View link in an article is to place the template {{gsvlink|URL=the URL for the link}} in the article. Sebwite (talk) 19:49, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The reason I put the links the way I do is because some stations (e.g. Lexington Market (Metro Subway station)) have more than one entrance to the station. I have no problem with {{gsvlink}} for stations with only 1 link and it says "Station from Google Maps Street View". Perhaps I'll start using the template for those stations. →GƒoleyFour (GSV) 19:56, 28 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
