A way forward with Prisoner X

[edit]

After having had a break from the article as well as the naming discussion/RFC, I have changed my position to support moving away from "Prisoner X", but still oppose "Ben Zygier" in favour of "Ben Zygier affair", "Death of Ben Zygier", or similar. A number of other people have also commented that titles such as these are more appropriate than "Ben Zygier". In the interest of moving forward with this, rather than waiting for an uninvolved admin or other experienced editor to come along, I propose:

  1. Closing the RFC as a WP:SNOW/WP:IAR close stating "The consensus is this article should not be located at Prisoner X. Several alternate titles have been proposed during this RFC that warrent further consideration. Therefore, this article should be moved to Ben Zygier, with that title either confirmed or modified subject to further discussion"
  2. Closing the RFC jointly, ie one of use closes it, and then the other one also signs it (or a link is left pointing here).
  3. Turn Prisoner X into a disambiguation page, (and update links from other articles if necessary)

What do you think? - Evad37 (talk) 15:45, 19 March 2013 (UTC) [reply]

Strike that, I don't know what I was thinking. There is no WP:DEADLINE, and therefore no good reason to use WP:IAR to circumvent the normal process of an uninvolved person closing. - Evad37 (talk) 16:43, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi GidonB -- to answer your question, Nijmegen Devils are a club that once operated a professional team in the Eredivisie, but the professional team was disbanded in 2011. The club still operates an amateur team in the Eerste Divisie. I hope that helps! Galteglise (talk) 16:36, 22 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Adrianus Johannes Lemmens

[edit]

Dear GideonB, Would you mind having a look at the page - Adrianus Johannes Lemmens- as there are a couple of comments made which are slightly disturbing to me as I am one of A.J. Lemmens surviving sons. With many thanks Glemmens1940 (talk) 14:29, 26 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There's a RFC at to talk:List of Israeli cities#RfC: Are Israeli settlements Israeli cities? about weather the articles inclusion of Israeli settlements (with city status) as "Israeli cities" in this context original research, or otherwise problematic. I'm telling you this because you made a related post on the talk page. Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talk) 20:36, 8 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

RFC Levi Leipheimer images - 2013 rationalization possible or necessary?

[edit]

Hi - you historically were a major contributor to the article Levi Leipheimer. I am not sure what is your current degree of interest in the subject, but if any, would you please check the article talk page and provide feedback on the possibility or even necessity (if any) of rationalizing image selection and layout for the article? It would be most appreciated. Thanks. Azx2 16:09, 9 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure how to react. Will leave this to others. Thank you for the historic acknowledgement! ;-) gidonb (talk) 11:46, 28 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Netherlands

[edit]

I have checked the facts, to summarize: the article is called Netherlands and the country "The Netherlands" or "the Netherlands". --Egel Reaction? 12:59, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia has conventions and we work by these conventions. You can discuss everything but the discussion ought to be held at the appropriate talk pages. In the case of the Netherlands, this is Talk:Netherlands. gidonb (talk) 13:14, 12 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
