Tyranta[edit]

Re: User_talk:Largoplazo#Sorry_to_bother_you!: Please read my message to Ann Rice, at User talk:Ann Rice#Tyranta. If you or anyone else can provide the information I'm looking for, please drop me a line on my talk page, User talk:Davidwr. Thanks.

By the way, most books to not meet the notability requirements (either general notability or notability for books) to be included in Wikipedia. All books that are either are easy to research online, would have been easy to research online if the Internet was around at the time the book was in print, or are special cases like non-English books or books from non-industrialized countries where there may be few if any English-language online references and the book may not be available in English-language online bookstores. In these cases, the notability is established using newspaper clippings, magazine reviews, university and K-12 course syllabuses, and the like. The fact that myself and at least one other editor are having a hard time researching this series puts the burden of proving notability even more squarely on the shoulders of those who claim it meets the requirements. Personally, I would be thrilled if this series does meet the requirements and if it's available through inter-library loan or at my library, I'd like to at least read the dust jacket if not the whole book. Sadly, I've yet to see any evidence from what Wikipedia would consider a reliable source that the series even exists. Please help me out here.

Also, you mentioned Ann Rice's web site. What's the URL?

Also, at least one of the articles that has since been deleted was about a character not a book. Even if the books or the book series is notable, the characters in it may or may not be. The other way around is also true - a non-notable book or series may include a notable character,if that character has become notable for some other reason, such as becoming a famous toy. This isn't that common though. Typically, if neither a book nor the series it is in is notable, none of its characters are unless they happen to be characters in another book or series that is notable.

You and others may also be interested in this proposed guideline that would, if adopted, formalize existing unwritten rules that allow certain elements including characters from works of fiction to be considered notable even if they did not meet the general notability guidelines. See Wikipedia:Notability_(fiction). This is a draft guideline and like all draft guidelines it's in a state of flux, as editors are deciding what existing practices are and are not followed widely enough to be considered a consensus position. Just because you see something in this or any other proposed guideline doesn't mean it's the rule or even widely followed. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 05:57, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have continued this conversation on my user talk page, here. Please keep that page on your watchlist. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 01:46, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Userfied article[edit]

I created: User:Gillian Reed/Veraline Andersen. See Wikipedia:Userfication#Userfication_of_deleted_content, I am not an administrator, but I play one on TV.

I would suggest cutting and pasting that information on: User:Gillian Reed/Veraline Andersen and keeping in on your computer. Although what I did is perfectly fine, I have questioned enough policies recently, upsetting enough users, I worry a troll will be along soon to delete User:Gillian Reed/Veraline Andersen.

Also for future reference, keep in mind: Category:Wikipedia_administrators_who will_provide_copies of_deleted_articles
