Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Brittany Ferrell a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Feedback request[edit]

Hi Ginasaps. I'm responding to your request for feedback. What I can help with? It looks like you've collected a number of useful sources for your article about Brittany Ferrell. The best ways to move forward from here are probably to focus on the organization and on the 'just-the-facts' style of a Wikipedia article, emphasizing the important context of MUA as part of the response to Shooting of Michael Brown early on. The two versions of the article (Brittany Ferrell vs. Draft:Brittany Ferrell) will get sorted out soon; in the meantime, you can keep improving the Draft one. If there's anything else you'd like specific help or feedback with, just leave a note for User:Adam (Wiki Ed), who is the Content Expert supporting your class.--Sage (Wiki Ed) (talk) 18:49, 11 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Brittany Ferrell[edit]

Hi, Ginasaps. I moved your draft to Brittany Ferrell. Take a look at the changes I've made to it. I made two big changes which I think the reviewers were looking for:

  • I removed most of the material about the business of her organization, because wikipedia articles about people should be mainly about those people and not a thing they're involved with. That doesn't mean we wouldn't cover it in a longer article, but 1/2 paragraphs is 50% of the content you're asking a potential reader to engage with. I've added a few more sources so you can expand a bit on the organization if you like (there are also 1-2 other sources available on the net but not yet cited in the article).
  • I re-wrote most of the text to make it more declarative and matter of fact. Phrases like "is known for" or "is heavily seen" may be accurate but they're often just adornments to an underlying claim: person did thing XYZ. The term "promotional" may seem a bit unfair for those statements, but the editors are mostly concerned about the tone of the piece itself. Wikipedia readers expect articles to treat subjects neutrally and directly.

You can add to the article--I added some new sources many of which have more info--but try to keep the above in mind. I also removed some of the bits about her being a single mother and a nursing student. Those aren't, strictly speaking, bad to have in an article, but all at once in the first sentence they're a bit much. I hope this helps. Thanks for your work on the article!
