I love this.

That's all. Thank you for removing my "comprised of". I've banished the phrase from my vocabulary. Niplav (talk) 13:19, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request for review

[edit]

Please review the second sentence of SpaceX Starship (spacecraft) for compliance with your program, if you have not already. 76.22.24.66 (talk) 02:46, 16 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

One thing cannot really compose something, even if that thing is attached to other things. All the components together compose the whole. So I have changed
Stacked atop its booster, the Super Heavy, it composes SpaceX's new super heavy-lift space vehicle
to
It and its booster, the Super Heavy, compose SpaceX's new super heavy-lift space vehicle
Another way to go about it would be
SpaceX's new super heavy-lift space vehicle consists of Starship stacked atop its booster

Thanks, I thought so. Your analysis made me think of yet another solution I ended up liking better. Feel free to revert if you wish. 76.22.24.66 (talk) 01:52, 17 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Another possible review case

[edit]

“...these ensembles comprise organs...” at Minimal music § Brief history...? 24.19.113.134 (talk) 04:46, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Looks right to me. At first sight, it looks wrong because the whole comprises the parts and a plural noun such as "ensembles" is usually a reference to parts (I correct this all the time), but in this case, each ensemble does comprise organs, etc. Bryan Henderson (giraffedata) (talk) 07:35, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That’s why we count on your expertise! 24.19.113.134 (talk) 20:35, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Elegant variation

[edit]

Hi. I notice the essay mentions elegant variation. A while ago I created an essay, WP:ELEVAR, arguing against the use of elegant variation on Wikipedia. You might find it helpful to link to it in this essay — or you might not. Either's fine with me. Cheers. Popcornfud (talk) 11:37, 17 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Looks good. I've added the link. Bryan Henderson (giraffedata) (talk) 05:20, 18 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
