Your Vandal Fighting[edit]

Looks like we were both chasing the same IP on the vandalism of Matrix (mathematics) and Al Gore. And you beat me every time - Speeeeeeeeeedy !!! Pedro1999a |  Talk  14:41, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Heh, what can I say? Sometimes I get bored at work and feel the need to right some wrongs...! I DID notice you beat me on the talk pages, though! What teamwork! GJD 14:42, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Teamwork and collaboration!! Wikipedia at it's best. Keep up the good fight! Pedro1999a |  Talk  14:58, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Michael Jackson Article[edit]

What should be the birth name and what should be the also known as?

BMI [1] and a court document [2] indicated Michael Joe Jackson. Israell 16:04, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can't help you on this one. My sole interest in that page was reverting the vandalism done by 216.11.148.3. If you've got good sourced info, Be Bold and update the article! -- GJD 16:19, 9 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

/\/\ Hello. You sent a message to this IP about vandalism, i have an an explanation. This address is shared by the entire ACISD campus. If it was blocked, more than 1500 people would be deprived of this great site. Thanks! /\/\ -- — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.151.180.55 (talkcontribs)

First: just as a minor FYI, the best way to leave comments is on my talk page. I've moved your comments from my user-page to my talk page (get there by clicking on the "discussion" tab on the user page). Secondly, I do understand your concern about the block; be assured that this only applies to edits, not simple viewing-you will still be able to see all the information Wikipedia has to offer! Finally, you can register your own ID and contribute that way to the Wikipedia-stand out from those 1500 as a unique contributor! -- GJD 21:15, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry - I've just noticed I should have reverted to your version, but just reverted to an earlier version by the vandal instead. Thanks for spotting and fixing it. He's had a {{test4a}}, and I'm now watching his contributions like a hawk. --Squeezeweaseltalk 18:17, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not a problem-it's easy to lose track when you have so many folks looking to squash the vandals! -- GJD 18:19, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism[edit]

This is a school IP address. I just got this message while reading on Wikipedia and had nothing to do with said revisions. However, as a sidenote, theres plenty of nonsense on Wikipedia. Just look at furry and otherkin. --147.126.95.165 20:49, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Understood. However, as you'll also see, there are a lot of people using their school IP addresses to vandalize Wikipedia, so we have little choice but to apply the warnings to the IP. You can, however, register with Wikipedia. In this manner, your IP's actions will very likely not reflect on you or any other valid editor using your IP. -- GJD 21:04, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia[edit]

I'm curious to know, do you actually work for Wikipedia and do you make money doing it?

Your recent AIV report[edit]

Just letting you know, I've blocked the IP range in question for six hours. This should hopefully calm things down a bit. Luna Santin 23:51, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate that. The editor in that range was on quite a spree. Thanks for acting on it! -- GJD 00:13, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies[edit]

Greetings, I recently just editted the Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious page, due to some vandal having changed it to nothing more than a bunch of slop. My revision was just a quick-and-dirty version, but I just wanted to let you know that I wasn't attempting to revise over you, just trying to revise over the previous slop. I'm new to Wikipedia, so I'm still getting a feel for how everything functions. Nice job, by the way! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by NexNoxNoctus (talkcontribs) 18:30, 23 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

No offense taken. One of the best ways to figure out how to get rid of vandalism is to check the History of an article. Sometimes vandals will attempt to use mulitple entries so a simple "Undo" will not fix the problem. In those cases, you can edit the last good version of the article and save it with a comment of "rvv" or "revert vandalism"-which is how I worked with the Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious fix. Welcome to Wikipedia! -- GJD 18:35, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question to GJD001, how are you able to ban users if your a "new" user, when I am not able to. Seriously, I would love to know. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Johnlennon100 (talkcontribs)

An interesting question, that. The short answer is, I can't. I'm not an admin-and those are the folks who can ban user accounts for varying lengths of time. Not quite sure where you got the idea that I had that kind of authority. What I CAN do (and you can do too) is report vandals to the admins, and THEY make the determinations as to whether or not to ban them, and for how long. -- GJD 21:52, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about the battle[edit]

Automatic Edit Summary[edit]

How do I make it so the revert summary shows up. I went to WP:AES, but I didn't get it/nothing was written how to implement it. Can you help me? I'm sick of rvv... The Evil Clown 20:25, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Only edit summary I've been able to pull consistently is the one that appears when I use the "undo" function when I'm comparing the current version to the previous one. Every time I've had to revert back more than one version, I've had to go with the rvv. That said, I get the impression that folks have some tool available that fills in that kind of thing for them automatically (javascripting, perhaps?). Wish I had a better answer to give you. -- GJD 22:13, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protection of user page[edit]

Your user page seems to attract a lot of vandalism. Want me to semi-protect it for you? --Slowking Man 21:05, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate the offer, but I think I'll pass on it. It's a result of the whole RC Patrol thing, and much of the vandalism comes from registered users (vandal accounts, sure, but still registered), so the semiprotect wouldn't help much anyway. Thanks for the lookout, though! -- GJD 22:00, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP:AIV request[edit]

Thank you for making a report about FullHouseIsGreat (talk · contribs · block log) on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators are generally only able to block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize even after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again. If they vandalize again, please report them. -- wrp103 (Bill Pringle) (Talk) 18:04, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your call. With a history of vandalism from a non-IP id, I'd have figured it would be a slam-dunk. But it isn't my problem. -- GJD 18:15, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see a different admin had a different point of view and has indef blocked the user. I will leave your message on my talk page regardless since I only work to remove vandalism. -- GJD 18:24, 17 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

D&D wiki project consensus[edit]

A call to all members of the D&D wiki project. We are currently having a major dispute that needs to be settled by all members of the D&D wiki project. The dispute is as follows. 1. Should we put disambiguation tags on D&D articles preemptively or should we wait until there is an article conflict with some other Wikipedia article. Vote on preemptive or wait.

2. What should we label these tags? Example "child's play (module)", or "child's play (adventure)" and at this point we are taking all suggestions.

User page restoration[edit]

Thanks for fixing my user page. A quick glance at the TOC for this page suggests it is something of a speciality of yours, but it is appreciated all the same. I don't recognise that particular IP address, but I suspect it belongs to one of the many anon editors who insist on putting rubbish/fancruft into the Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends character articles (thus requiring a tiresome 'daily revert'..) Cheers EdJogg 17:50, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're welcome! I was a little uncertain on that, since I've forgotten to log in a few times to make edits, and wasn't sure if it was the case here-I figured better safe than sorry. Glad to hear I didn't accidentally step on your toes! -- GJD 18:21, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

CrystarB4 edits[edit]

I very much appreciate your help, and he is rightly suspected of being a sock-puppet for JJonz, including that he uses JJonz 'Gaashooru' when addressing Gscshoyru, but he didn't vandalise Powers and abilities of Superman or Sentry (Robert Reynolds). He's currently either blatantly trying to bait both you User:Gscshoyru and User: J Greb with harmless and completely pointless, non-vandalism, edits, while feigning 'harmless pacifist' comments, or is simply some unrelated guy doing semi-stupid but harmless edits. Please keep track of whether he does reverts or just adds an 'and' or similar here and there, or he'll lure you into a pitfall/ban. Ridding you of much credibility with the admins with JJonz getting an open market to do whatever he wants/act silly petty tyrant again. Dave 17:31, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No fear there. I held off on the last round of reverts until his block went through for just that kind of reasoning. While not technically vandalism, his "work" was disruptive of Wikipedia. Thanks for the watch-out, though! -- GJD (Talk to me|Damage I've done) 17:36, 8 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Free League (disambiguation)[edit]

Hello Gjd001,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Lithopsian and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I have tagged an article that you started, Free League (disambiguation) for deletion, because it is unnecessary and disambiguates only a single page.

If you feel that the page shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Lithopsian}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!
