Strange Warning

I edited Dimetrondon on some behavor facts I learned in "walking with montsers," then I got a vadiism message on the tempest. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.29.187.7 (talk) 17:13, 26 February 2012 (UTC)

You mean the notices from November, 2011, posted on the Talk page for IP user 66.29.187.7? A downside of editing Wikipedia without creating an account is the IP address you access Wikipedia from has often been previously used by another person who may have created the prior edits. If you didn't edit The Tempest, as the other editor did in November, then you can just ignore the other notices. Geoff Who, me? 19:31, 26 February 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading File:Ginger beer.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 04:25, 11 March 2012 (UTC)

Thanks, Skier. Another editor found a free image on Commons to replace this one in the article, (Ginger beer), which wasn't around when I uploaded the fair use image. I've tagged my upload with an A7 tag - go ahead and delete it as it's not needed. Cheers! Geoff Who, me? 19:10, 11 March 2012 (UTC)

Hi. When you recently edited Maui Tacos, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Livermore (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Regarding my Wiki activity

Hi Geoff,

I am a student taking a basic Communication writing course and had to move my article on the main space in order to receive credit for an assignment/allow my classmates to peer edit it. I understand that it is not yet an acceptable article and am continuing to work on it. It's due next Friday. Any way my page can last on the main page until my instructor grades it? Then I won't mind if it is reverted back to Sandbox.

I changed the title a couple times and cannot figure out how to delete the previous entries. Still trying to get the hang of Wiki. Chalbeis (talk) 01:37, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

  • Alas, it's out of my control how long the article may last given that it is being discussed at Articles for Deletion (AfD). Depending on responses, those can close after about 7 - 10 days, resulting in deletion or retention, depending on consensus among those participating in the AfD. I don't know the terms of your assignment, but it is possible for all editors to review/edit articles in sandboxes - they just need to be told where to look. Perhaps your professor will allow credit for a sandbox article-in-progress, but that's between the two of you. I agree that learning to use this thing of ours (Wikipedia) is difficult. I don't know what I would have done if I had been under a deadline to produce an article, instead of having the luxury of taking my time to build slowly in a sandbox. Again, don't give up! Geoff Who, me? 17:05, 18 April 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the support! Quick question: How exactly do you move an article back to sandbox? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chalbeis (talkcontribs) 02:01, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

  • The how-to steps are listed in the Userfy article here: Userfication process. Simply put, use the "Move" button on your article to move it to your sandbox or a subpage of your user page and then tidy up the loose ends. If you like, I think I can do it for you, as any registered user has the "Move" button (it's under the drop down arrowhead to the right of the top of the page). Try it yourself or let me know if you want me to try it for you. Geoff Who, me? 18:35, 19 April 2012 (UTC)

Thank you, that would be great actually if you could help me move it. I've tried before but I don't believe I did it correctly? I'm navigating Wikipedia right now trying to figure out how to properly add sources. I have gathered a lot more academic articles/sources to use in my article. Another question - what's your stance on external links? Chalbeis (talk) 13:34, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi again! I noticed the deletion notice on my article has been removed? If possible, I'd like to keep it in the main space until it's graded, at least, if that's okay. Chalbeis (talk) 13:47, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

  • It was already moved to your userspace by an administrator as its time for deletion had come up. I think my note on the deletion page helped avoid deletion as I suggested it be userfied in light of the school project. See the note from the administrator on your userpage: "I've closed the AFD discussion as delete but have userfied the article to User:Chalbeis/Food trends. --Ron Ritzman (talk) 00:24, 21 April 2012 (UTC)" Perhaps you can have it graded in situ or you can work on it further and try moving it back once it has enough references and looks more encyclopedic in form and content. Geoff Who, me? 21:06, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

List of Touch episodes edit

Hi, I was just wondering why you felt that my edit to the information on some of the Touch episodes was not constructive? I'm not sure, but it seems you were pointing out the one where I added in the name Andre as the name of Elliot's brother. Credo Reference Update & Survey (your opinion requested)

Credo Reference, who generously donated 400 free Credo 250 research accounts to Wikipedia editors over the past two years, has offered to expand the program to include 100 additional reference resources. Credo wants Wikipedia editors to select which resources they want most. So, we put together a quick survey to do that:

It also asks some basic questions about what you like about the Credo program and what you might want to improve.

At this time only the initial 400 editors have accounts, but even if you do not have an account, you still might want to weigh in on which resources would be most valuable for the community (for example, through WikiProject Resource Exchange).

Also, if you have an account but no longer want to use it, please leave me a note so another editor can take your spot.

If you have any other questions or comments, drop by my talk page or email me at wikiocaasi@yahoo.com. Cheers! Ocaasi t | c 17:17, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

hey mate,

in regards to Krishna Abhiskeh page. The .jpg file name is Krushna so the picture does not show up if it is named Krishna so I had to change it back to Krushna so that the picture file is actually recognized.

keep in mind, the name Krishna s the only one that shows up anywhere. only the file name which is not really seen by anyone is changed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.147.224.225 (talk) 01:48, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

I've put the file link back. Part of the problem was that you were making your edits without an edit summary, so those of us who watch over articles for unexplained (and possibly unconstructive) changes could not see what you were trying to do. Adding an edit summary when making edits really helps as it explains to others what your edits are all about. (I still can't suss out why the photo file is named "Krushna" where the person's name, from all the source information, appears to be "Krishna.") Geoff Who, me? 18:10, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

Kalakanda

Kalakanda is the non-specific,generic name and the name still used in places other than Hindi speaking areas. Kalakand is specifically a Hindi/North Indian word. It is a derivative of the Sanskrit words kala and khanda (which the english word candy supposedly comes from): art and candy.

The letter Q doesn't exist in the Indian languages and is only applicable to Muslim influenced words. show me where there is a Q here:http://omniglot.com/writing/sanskrit.htm ?

also i'd like some citations for the creator. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.147.224.225 (talk) 01:55, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

You are writing about your edits to the Krishna Abhishek article, yes? May I suggest discussing such changes on the article's Talk page, in order to seek some consensus among those editors who are interested in and knowledgeable about the gentleman about whom the article is written as well as the fine points of both Hindi and Sanskrit. I can't claim to be an expert on Mr. Abhishek, nor as to Hindi or Sanskrit. Citing reliable sources for your points is also essential. And, as I mentioned above, using an edit summary as you create edits to any article helps others understand better what you are trying to do. Cheers and happy editing! Miss interpretation of the movie "Rules of attraction"

Hello Glane 23,

This was actually not senseless at all. Watch the movie if you don't believe me ;D but throughout the movie several scenes do prove my point. Acutally the author of the Book Bret Easton Ellis did announce the his gay, at least the wikipedia article does state so. But this only confirmed my previous interpretations. Just think about it when watching the movie, youll see how often hints are given. for example when sean loses his errection during sex, saying he hadnt had sex sober in a long time, or his hate against women, where he uses them and doesnt care about the person at all, "letting them back with the bill" or simply going home to "jack off alone" Homosexuality is a main subject of the movie, so I dont see why this should be sensless at all. Later you can see both sean and paul lying in underwear in their room, while watching a lesbian porn, (a "homosexual" movie) Paul then turns of the tune and asks sean out for the party. I belive the movie was purposely left open to interpreter , but it does show the division of perception in every single characters life, and also of the viewer, which would explain why the author of the existing article did not seem to notice the obvious hints. There are many curious scenes with obvious subliminal tools, which have to be stated to understand the message of the movie. The missinterpretation of Sean is not the only thing that I noticed that are essential to understand the movie, but it was the one thing that i thought would be absurd to just let it uncontradicted. I believe this movie is way more complicated then this article on wiki indicates. the subjects are very profound, and not correctly stated.

Thank you for your attention, and I hope you do consider to change the text, or at least adjust it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.75.126.97 (talk) 01:03, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

I was concerned about your edits to the article The Rules of Attraction (film) because (a) there was no edit summary and (b) there were no citations to support your changes. The edit summary would have helped me understand what you were trying to do and I highly recommend that you complete a summary for your edits for that reason. Further, you should include inline citations to support the statements you added so that the article is verifiable from reliable sources. If you want to add back your changes, I'll leave them alone, as I think I understand that what you are trying to do is to improve the encyclopedia and that you are acting in good faith. I do highly recommend that you find sources which you can cite in support of your changes. Thanks and happy editing! Geoff Who, me? 13:47, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I just wanted to point you toward your edit here, during which you reverted an edit which removed uncited material which included lines such as "Stiv is roundly remembered as one of the very best front men in punk and post-punk rock", and "from the start the new members found it difficult to tolerate Steven Marque, and after some months on the road, they began to loathe him". It should be clear that the second line is a very serious issue. Please be careful what you are doing, and remember to assume good faith. The strange note that the IP added to the article should have tipped you off to pay extra close attention in that case. Prodego talk 22:28, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

It looked to me like the additions were sheering periously close to uncited negative material regarding living persons, along with other edits which appeared to be unambiguoous promotion, so without an edit summary to help me understand what was intended, I opted for removing it all. I have a strange note from the IP (above) and, complicating things further, another editor stepped in after you to remove essentially the same uncited material I had removed. Meanwhile, and finally, the IP appears to have speedied the article. I honestly don't know enough about the subject to know what to do with the article next, so I think my best course is to just stand back. And so it goes... Regards and thank you again. Geoff Who, me? 23:44, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
I should have followed my own advise and checked your edit more closely. I assumed since the ip removed that info in other edits that you reverted his removal. I was wrong. Sorry about that, you did everything right - prodego

Hi there. I am just letting you know that I have declined your speedy deletion request of Rattlesnake Island (Okanagan Lake) as a non-administrator, as I have removed most of the copyright violations and it would have been simpler to do that in the first place. Articles should not be deletion just because they can, and it would be easier to just list the article at copyright problems or address the concern yourself. Of course, copyright is not acceptable at Wikipedia, but if you can fix the problem yourself that would be better for the encyclopedia. TBrandley (what's up) 01:01, 21 January 2013 (UTC)

Vlad the Impaler

I noticed someone had been trying to remove the information in this article regarding the guy's alleged marriages, which you reverted without comment. Did you think it was vandalism? Anyway I removed it, since it was completely unsourced. I also opened a thread in the talk page, if you want to discuss the issue. Thanks! §FreeRangeFrogcroak 03:34, 15 February 2013 (UTC)

It looks like my edit comment didn't save for some reason. I removed the two additions as they were unsourced and had asked, in my not-saved edit comment, the editor to add sources within the article. They had added what appeared to be sources within their comment, but had not included the references in the article. Not to mention the issue of whether the sources were verifiable, etc. Geoff Who, me? 22:33, 15 February 2013 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:Dubble Bubble.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Dubble Bubble.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Hazard-Bot (talk) 04:55, 2 March 2013 (UTC)

Warnings on Talk page

I have never made any edits on Wikipedia. Not on this computer or any other computer in my life. I have never submitted any information into Wikipedia, therefore I cannot be reprimanded for editing anything.

Dr. McDowell, you must be referring to warnings posted on IP user 74.65.119.229's Talk page. I see that Orphan Wiki and I posted warnings about edits on that page in February, 2011. At the bottom of the page is this notice: "This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's numerical IP address. Some IP addresses change periodically, and may be shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address." Accessing Wikipedia without logging on is what we call "IP access," meaning that the user is recorded as the IP address from which you accessed Wikipedia. ISPs often reassign IP addresses as users log on and log off their systems, so it is quite likely that you were "dynamically assigned" the IP address which had been used by someone else 2 years ago to make edits which resulted in the warnings. You may ignore warnings about edits you did not make or, to avoid seeing such irrelevant notices, you may create an account. Cheers! Geoff Who, me? 23:53, 8 March 2013 (UTC)

Warning posted on IP Talk page

Hi -- I received a message about reverting an edit to the Trinidad article. Just to say, it wasn't me who made the edit. The IP address referred to is Flow which has many Trinidad users -- maybe thousands? Agree the edit was unconstructive, even vandalism. Cordless kettle (talk) 13:10, 15 March 2013 (UTC)

Hi, Cordless kettle! Glad you set up an account of your own. At the bottom of every IP user Talk page is this notice: "This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's numerical IP address. ISPs often reassign IP addresses as users log on and log off their systems, so it is quite likely that you were "dynamically assigned" the IP address which had been used by someone else as some point in time to make edit which resulted in the notice/warning. Just ignore warnings about edits you did not make. And besides, now that you have an account, you won't see notices about edits you didn't make. Welcome aboard! change to 1983 PC Leadership Convention page

This change is giving proper credit to the photographer, and is constructive. You will note that the same credit is given on the photo that appears later on the page -- and that text has been on the page for quite some time without complaint. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.48.107.126 (talk) 15:55, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

Well, the author of the image is credited on its Commons page [2] and it isn't necessary to add the image credit to the article. Smacks of self-promotion as most images attached to articles do not include a creator credit in their caption, because any reader can click on the image to view it with its upload data, including its source and creator. Geoff Who, me? 16:02, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
And, now you mention it, the other image caption should also not include the caption credit as it too links to a Commons page ([3]) which includes full credit with its image description. Geoff Who, me? 16:06, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

Doo Town Tasmania

The only change that I have ever made in reference to Doo Town was the misspelling of my fathers name. Due to our recent loss of him I felt that is was respectful to his memory that his name was Bill Eldridge who owned do us and do us too. If you are fine with disrespecting the dead then leave his name mispelt.

I am the granddaughter of the man who built Doo us and Doo us too the mispelling of his name broke my heart so soon after his death. As his father was the builder and his name being Bill Eldridge as well.

I am not ashamed to give my real name which is Julieann Eldridge. I spent a lot of my childhood in the area and those memory I love.

If it is in reference to me removing the name with the fxxx I found that name was disrespectful to the area and the people who started doo town would never of wanted that name there. Could they put stars on it as I have done above so as the site is suitable to children and to viewers of Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 123.2.134.237 (talk) 04:03, 16 May 2013 (UTC)

My revert was of this edit, adding "Doo Fuck All" to the list of house names which was made January 9, 2013 by an IP user using the same IP as yours: 123.2.134.237. The edit I reverted didn't seem appropriate as it did not appear sourced to a verifiable reference. In point of fact, someone re-added the name of the house later and, when I double-checked the reference cited for the house names, I found that, sure enough, "Doo Fuck All" is one of the house names listed in the reference. All in all, the residents must be a grand lot of wowsers. The article today includes that house name. It is quite possible that someone other than you made that edit because it is not unusual for internet service providers to reassign IP addresses as users sign on and off the internet. Edits on the Page Fernando Muslera

Hello Glane23. I realised that you reverted the edits I have made on the page about Fernando Muslera to the old revision. I think that I made an error by not giving any citations about the information I have added and changed, even though what I did was mostly correcting grammar mistakes and adding some words which were missing in the sentences. I couldn't add citations because I'm not familiar with editing in Wikipedia but I can surely say that Muslera saved his first penalty for Galatasaray in the 2011-12 season against Mersin İdmanyurdu on 5 November 2011, not 2012. I will support this with http://www.transfermarkt.com.tr/tr/fernando-muslera/elfmeter/spieler_58088.html

If you look at the penalty statistics of the goalkeeper mentioned above, you will see that Muslera saved a penalty from Andre Moritz against Mersin İdmanyurdu on 5 November 2011. The information in the old revision is wrong. After I corrected it, it looked weird that information about 2011 was written after information about 2012, so i just cut that sentence about the 2011 penalty save and pasted it just above the information about the keeper's 2012 performances. What I edited was that. I couldn't add citations but if you can add the link above as a citation (if you are satisfied with the content of it of course) I will be very pleased :).

I won't be using this IP anymore. I will contact you with another IP in a couple of days, just in case you wish to reply to me. I will apply the changes I made again. If there is stil something you are not happy about please let me know. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.14.141.248 (talk) 21:58, 20 July 2013 (UTC)

Message from IP user

PLEASE CORRECT THE INFORMATION ABOUT IMPERATO AND THE SEC. CASE NOW CLOSED.

  • This edit suggests that the IP user (208.54.85.220) who left the above message may be the subject of the article. Whether or not that is true, the IP user made repeated edits, all in upper case, to the Daniel Imperato article, all variations on the theme that the pending US District Court, Southern District of Florida case referred to in the article had been closed. ClueBot, Flyer22 and I all reverted the repeated edits made by the IP user. The problems shared by all the IP edits are that no supporting citation or link was included and that the edits were all upper case. You are welcome to make constructive edits to Wikipedia, but I recommend that you first read the article on reliable sources. Your edits need to be supported by reference to verifiable, independent sources. I also suggest you find the "Caps Lock" key and turn off all caps for your edits. Finally, when you post to Talk pages, kindly sign your messages with four tildes (~~~~), which will automatically add your user name (IP address if that is how you are editing), with the date and time of your post. August 2013-IP 174.113.206.94

If you read the sentence: "Near the end of the book, he gives a new mandola, created by the finest mandola craftsmen in Araluen."

There is no specification of who the mandola is given to, making it an incomplete sentence. In the novel, it was given to Will Treaty which is why I changed it to: "Near the end of the book, he gives a new mandola, created by the finest mandola craftsmen in Araluen to Will." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 174.113.206.94 (talk) 14:38, 5 August 2013 (UTC)

Hermatite magnification

Hello,

Electron microscopes normally write their magnification in terms of thousands. There is absolutely no way that the image has a magnification of only 100x. Not even 10,000x. It must be 100,000x.

(I am a Physicist)

Regards, AdmiralAkber (talk) 05:35, 25 October 2013 (UTC)

Referring to this reversion I did for an edit by IP User 14.202.198.201. You may be right, but the caption of the image, which is from Commons here, states, rightly or wrongly, "Hematite in Scanning Electron Microscope, magnification 100x." It was uploaded by Materialscientist and may I suggest that you discuss the caption and the magnification issue with that user on their Talk page over on Commons. I'm no physicist, but I do know that Wikipedia discourages original research. I'm sure you can clear it all up via a discussion with Materialscientist, whom I feel certain will be interested in hearing from you. Thank you for your effort to improve the accuracy of Wikipedia and welcome. Geoff Who, me? 21:31, 25 October 2013 (UTC)

Edit to Rhodesian Bush War

Hi

In response to your message:

"Hello, I'm Glane23. I wanted to let you know that I undid one of your recent contributions, such as the one you made with this edit to Rhodesian Bush War, because it didn’t appear constructive to me. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks, Geoff Who, me? 14:46, 17 April 2013 (UTC)"

The edit consisted of the following: correcting the description of Shari Eppel, who was described as a German Journalist, but who is in fact a Zimbabwean Human Rights activist. I'm not sure what isn't constructive about this - it's just correcting a factual error.

Could you revert this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 46.65.46.19 (talk) 17:16, 30 October 2013 (UTC)

Referring to this edit to Rhodesian Bush War. I couldn't tell if the edit was constructive largely because you made the change without leaving an edit summary explaining what you were doing. The original designation as a German journalist had been supported by this reference: "Eppel, Shari (26 March 2008). "Matabeleland: Its Struggle for National Legitimacy, and the Relevance of this in the 2008 Election" (PDF). Berlin: Heinrich Böll Foundation. Retrieved 9 December 2008." Unfortunately, that is now a dead link. I found the archived article and fixed the link in the article, however there is nothing in the referenced article itself to allow a reader to tell which characterization, journalist or "Zimbabwean Human Rights activist" is correct. Feel free to find and add a source for the characterization. Then, no harm, no foul. Happy editing. Geoff Who, me? 19:32, 31 October 2013 (UTC)

Edit warning

Dear Glane23 I was wondering why you issued me with an edit warning and reverted my edit to Dan Howell? I added the revision with two sources which contained direct statements made by Howell. I am not a disruptive editor and I was not intending on vandalising the page, please see my contributions (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/LordFixit)

LordFixit (talk) 00:14, 13 November 2013 (UTC)

I have now seen that you described my edit to Phil Lester as containing 'negative' information. I am disappointed that you appear to believe Bisexuality is a 'negative' personality trait. I certainly don't think it is, so the edit was not malicious. LordFixit (talk) 00:18, 13 November 2013 (UTC)
The sources were not reliable. Please see the article on biographies of living people. Blogs are not considered reliable sources, especially with regard to biographies of living persons. For the same reasons, I reverted your edits of the Phil Lester article, which were similar and similarly supported by unreliable sources. I assume you made the edits in good faith and that you will seek out better sources for your edits in future. Geoff Who, me? 00:23, 13 November 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for your prompt reply. I understand your point, especially if the blogs were based upon personal opinion, and rumour. But in this case, the blogs are simply reposting Tweets and other social media comments made by both Howell and Lester in relation to their sexuality. As WP:BLPSPS states 'Never use self-published sources – including but not limited to books, zines, websites, blogs, and tweets – as sources of material about a living person, unless written or published by the subject. I am thinking therefore that the sources are reliable LordFixit (talk) 00:28, 13 November 2013 (UTC)
I'd really appreciate if we could discuss why these source are not reliable under WP:ABOUTSELF and WP:BLPSPS.LordFixit (talk) 01:12, 13 November 2013 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Except that these are blogs about tweets and comments on social media, as you mention, which are both notoriously unreliable sources. If, as many other persons in all walks of life have done, these individuals have indeed publicly commented on their sexuality, then you should be able to find reporting of their public comments in reliable, third party published sources. You may want to open a discussion about the subject on the respective Talk pages so that you can engage editors interested in the articles. Geoff Who, me? 01:20, 13 November 2013 (UTC)

Who ate all the pies?

Hi Glane23. My issues with using The Sun as a reference for the apparent chart-topping popularity of the chicken & mushroom pie go deeper than just the general unreliability of that particular tabloid. The link goes to an old article on The Sun's website which is annotated "Last Updated: 27th July 2007." But that report was actually published on page 35 of the The Sun on 29 January 2004. It was also based on a very small, uncontrolled - and thus not at all representative for the purposes of an encyclopedia - poll carried out by Kwik Save. There have been similar unscientific polls most years - for example, in 2001 steak & kidney was apparently the most popular (Brown, Annie (12 May 2001). "Pie study just half-baked". Daily Record. Glasgow. p. 28.); in 2002 Leeds was the pie-eating capital, and steak & kidney the favourite again ("Leeds tops for pies". The Belfast News Letter. Belfast. 24 August 2002. p. 9.). In 2010, chicken & mushroom takes a dive and the Evening Telegraph informs us that plain steak pie tops the chart, followed by steak & kidney, minced beef & onion and finally chicken & mushroom (Jackson, David (26 January 2010). "Comeback for the humble British pie". Evening Telegraph. Kettering.). Oh, and based on sales, Tesco reckoned Leicester was the pie-eating capital... So the reference is 9 years old, unreliable due to the nature of the evidence gathering and probably unreliable due to the variation seen year by year anyway. Blackberry Sorbet (talkcontribs) 00:43, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

About sourcing on Chicken and mushroom pie. Thanks, Blackberry. A cogent argument indeed! Take it away - I won't put it back. Geoff Who, me? 00:50, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
There must be a recent, reliable source somewhere. A pie maker's association or similar? I'm currently looking through the British Pie Award website... (what did I do with my life??) Blackberry Sorbet (talkcontribs) 00:54, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

WoL Edit

Hi there, Geoff. I'm here to inquire about how to introduce some material to the war of legends wikipedia page. I come here with extensive knowledge of the game (#3 legend world-wide rank) and I wish to convey a warning to prospective players that Jagex is conducting mass-scale criminal activity costing its player base tens if not hundreds of thousands of dollars. You have undone my change to the page and I wish to know why and how to fix it to get it left on the page. Thanks.

Edit: Also, the addition in question is thus:

"Please note that Jagex disregards the Lanham Act, international false advertising law, fraud law, and laws pertaining to blackmail, so proceed with caution when purchasing in-game items. For accurate descriptions of what items do, please refer to the war of legends wiki website as the majority of descriptions in-game are incorrect. Also note that the player base is entirely unsure of what exactly a size-able portion of what the items in-game do at all or if they have any function whatsoever in spite of them costing real-world money to obtain, so in such cases, purchase at your own risk." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.54.119.50 (talk) 23:54, 21 November 2013 (UTC)

G'day, mate! I was concerned about the unsourced and potentially libelous statements wherein violations of laws were alleged. Those are serious charges. If you have reliable sources that you can reference for your statements, then you can report what the sources themselves report, but in a neutral point of view. Read, for example, how the New York Times reported the charges brought again JPMorgan Chase which it recently settled, just for one illustration. Or even the Wikipedia article section on the same charges. Even if the statements you wrote are true, they must be reported carefully. Geoff Who, me? 00:09, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

Thanks, Geoff. Sure, the source for false advertising law: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/False_advertising

fraud law: http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/fraud

I have them attempting to blackmail on two counts, but those are images of correspondence between them and myself, which I'm willing to upload, but would not know how to include.

Additional source: myself as one of the world's former top players (ranked #3 legend world-wide) and their own forums, on which player base outrage is well documented (even though Jagex regularly deletes the more hateful complaints of their exploitation and scamming practices).

If you could help me implement these citations, I would be very thankful! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.54.119.50 (talk) 01:16, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

My friend, I have to tell you this isn't worth the potential trouble it can cause. My recommendation is just to leave it lie. I hope you read the article on reliable sources I mentioned earlier. You also need to read about Wikipedia's prohibition of original research as a source for references for facts in its articles. That is what correspondence between yourself and the company would be. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a crusade. However much you have been wronged, this isn't the place to redress wrongs. If you can find articles published about the subject in edited newspapers, for example the New York Times or a national periodical such as Time, just to give two examples, then those might be appropriate sources. But not anecdotes from other players or yourself which you gather. You might try a Google News search, for example. My advice is to take a deep breath (or two), count to 100 and step back from the brink. If you want to take legal action yourself, alone or in in concert with others, then I highly recommend that you consult a lawyer and, if appropriate, seek redress in the courts. Geoff Who, me? 02:31, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

I have already read the applicable laws; it's clear-cut that the ones jagex has broken are numerous and severe. The risks for me are nonexistent; jagex has already acknowledged on multiple occasions their awareness that they would be at an utter loss in a court case on the matter and pursuing me for libel is something they outright won't do because of this, not to mention that they wouldn't win such a suit. Preferably, I would like to resolve the issue without the trouble of legal intervention, but with the law so overwhelmingly on my side, I am by no means apprehensive of doing so if all else fails. I'm merely trying to help people who may be harmed by their illegal practices. If you are unable to allow me to post the warning for future players, would you be so kind as to delete the page entirely so wikipedia does not deliver individuals to a website where they are likely to ultimately be scammed? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.54.119.50 (talk) 02:48, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

Hey, I'm just an editor here, one of thousands of volunteers, just like you. I have no special powers and I'm just trying to help the community make the encyclopedia better. If you want to nominate the page for deletion, you can try following the procedure outlined in the deletion process article. Geoff Who, me? 03:12, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

Wasn't looking to attack you; I didn't mean to come off that way but it seems like you may have taken it that way. Just looking for information; trying to help out people myself. Thanks for the info; I will nominate the page for deletion. Have a good one! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.54.119.50 (talk) 03:17, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

No offense taken and your responses weren't perceived as an attack. I was just trying to help you back up a little for some perspective as I think you'll be an asset as an editor. As a group of Wikipedians wrote some years ago, very much tongue in cheek, one should avoid climbing the Reichstag dressed as Spiderman. Please take that advice as the not-so-serious wisdom it is intended to be. It helps to have the heart of a dove coupled with the hide of a rhinoceros to edit around here. Referring to Oxford spelling. I reverted your addition of language in the lede ("Oxford spelling is best known for its preference for the suffix ‑ize rather than -ise.") where essentially the same language is in the first sentence of the second section: "Oxford spelling can be recognized by its use of the suffix ‑ize instead of -ise: organization, privatize and recognizable instead of organisation, privatise and recognisable." It seems to me that repeating the same in the lede is redundant and unnecessary. There you have it. Geoff Who, me? 23:59, 21 November 2013 (UTC)

Referring to this edit to Everyday Edisons, by an IP user. The additions you refer to lacked reliable sources, which is particularly important for negative statements about an existing organization. Assuming you are the IP editor, your edit summary also made it clear that you were basing your addition, at least in part, on original research which is contrary to Wikipedia's guidelines. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a forum or soapbox for advocacy, however well intentioned. If you can find reliable sources for your additions, then by all means add the facts, but use neutral language, citing your third-party, published sources. Someone's website created for the purpose of airing complaints is not a reliable source. Geoff Who, me? 14:50, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

You undid a revert i made about Nawa city(Syria) The problem is that following the wiki map http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Syrian_civil_war_detailed_map Nawa is under SAA control ,while in this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cities_and_towns_during_the_Syrian_civil_war#Maps_of_territorial_control it is labeled as 'contested'.I am talking about the city not the wider area.

There is a clear contradiction. Either change the template or the map and please fix that contradiction. This is what i tried to do. Since i am not allowed to change anything else for next 24h, i guess someone else has to do it — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.65.140.68 (talk) 21:48, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

You refer to this edit and revert. I saw no verifiable source cited for the change in flag from Syria to the UAR and you did not provide an edit summary. Can you provide a reliable source for the change? Wikipedia doesn't work by relying on one's own knowledge, but by reference to independently verifiable sources. It's an encyclopedia, not a news source. Try to find a source and try again. Geoff Who, me? 00:17, 23 November 2013 (UTC)

Yes, I agree with you on that, but still one page label Nawa as SAA controled and the map label it as contested. Again, I am telling you there is a contradiction in wikipedia and someone has to fix it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.65.136.42 (talk) 11:13, 23 November 2013 (UTC)

Delete Visual History

Geoff, I have spoken with other students. Visual History is a very serious article. The main question is the translation. It would be a real mistake to delete this article: imagine, if wikipedia was used in the 1930s, you had deleted the Ecole des Annales article, just because the translation was bad? English speaking users of our Free Encyclopedia must really know about these news researches for a global history of images. So, we feel in fact that we need, with your help and others, to improve the translation in English. malexartMalexart (talk) 06:29, 26 November 2013 (UTC)

Visual History

Geoff. I think you should not delete Visual History, because this article explains the general history of all visual matters created by human kind from the Prehistory. It is new. This is a global history for all objects, architectures, countrysides and all images. You cannot call it History of Images or History of Arts or History of Objects. The new aspect : Visual History is THE global history of all visual matters. It is very useful to have it in our Free Encyclopedia. But, of course, you may try to write in a better English. argemediaArgemedia (talk) 10:24, 26 November 2013 (UTC)

Prince Edward County, Ontario - Notable residents page

Actually, Lorne Bill Bentley is a notable resident and currently runs the Leadership department advising the Department of National Defence and the Government of Canada for the past 40 years. He was born and raised in Crofton (prince edward county) and received the Governer Generals award for his military service (highest honour available) . He still lives in Prince Edward County to this day. The list of people on there also don't seem very "constructive"...a chef without a functioning restaurant? Come on. Territory of Ashmore and Cartier Islands (TACI)

This was my first visit to Wikipedia and I noticed some errors and omissions in my brief read of the TACI information. As background I worked on the administration of most of Australia's territories for almost 20 years and visited Ashmore and Cartier Islands on several occasions (I understand anyone could make such a claim).

As to my addition to the text I thought that my reference to Cartier Island as a 'gazetted' (Australian Government Gazette) would be it's own citation but now realize that it should have been more explicit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 180.200.145.72 (talk) 01:55, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

Gun laws in ohio

Hello Glane23,

You just removed my edit of "Gun Laws in Ohio". If you would like to view the 1 webpage referenced you will understand the most of the information on the page is inaccurate and needs to be erased. Also, you may discuss any article's shortcomings on its related Talk page. Finally, how about finding references and rewriting the article, as needed? Geoff Who, me? 18:56, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

Did you know that Wikipedia has no editorial board and that the content of its articles comes entirely from the work of volunteer editors? Wikipedia works by community consensus, as messy and inaccurate as the result may be at times. The point is that deletion of an article is a community decision, not that of a single editor. I gave you the link to the page which has instructions on nominating an article for deletion. As an alternate, I suggested you work to improve the article. I did not suggest, nor do I recommend, what appears to be your choice, which is to simply go away. And there we are... Geoff Who, me? 20:36, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

I am trying to volunteer my time by removing information that has NO BASIS OR REFERENCE. It is completely illogical to ask a person to provide reference for why something is inaccurate if the person saying it has no evidence. In the logical world, when someone presents information, they provide sources which back up or verify the information. Why the sudden need to moderate? Obviously no one was moderately the article when it was written. But we all know its not about that. Wikipedia wouldn't have 4,391,000+ articles if people could remove information with little to no evidence to support them. It's all about the numbers. Make it very easy for any asshole to write any article about anything and keep it if no one complains. One more on the ticker for wikipedia. Someone tries to remove it and make it difficult as can be. I would call you a corporate tool but you're not even that... More like a volunteer tool.

Sallallahu alaihi wassallam after Prophet Muhammad's name

I just edited a page here on wikipedia and wrote Sallalahu alaihi wassallam which means "peace be upon him" after prophet Muhammad's name. We should say that after we take his name in order to bless and honor the holy prophet. Muslims are commanded to salute the prophet whenever they take his name and this is also mentioned in a Quranic verse to do so ( al-Ahzab 33:56 Indeed, Allah confers blessing upon the Prophet, and His angels [ask Him to do so]. O you who have believed, ask [ Allah to confer] blessing upon him and ask [ Allah to grant him] peace.).So i just wrote "sallalahu alaihi wasallam" there so that muslims do not miss saying that. And i think even for those who are not muslims and who dont follow quran, its a basic ethic to honor the prophet and there is no harm in honoring Muhammad(sallallhu alaihi wasallam) for anyone. If you do not want to write "sallalahu alaihi wasallam" atleast write "peace be upon him" after his name. Farheen29ahmed (talk) 19:45, 17 December 2013 (UTC)Farheen29ahmed

With respect, please see the guideline for honorifics as to the Prophet found in the Wikipedia Manual of Style. The guideline is to remove the honorifics. As more fully discussed in the article Muhammad in Islam, the names and titles of praise are many. The community of volunteers who edit Wikipedia has determined, for purposes of the free encyclopedia, to simply state the name. Geoff Who, me? 20:28, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

Unconstructive

Hi Glane23, I just wanted to know the reasons behind considering my edit at Wormholes in fiction unconstructive. So far as I could see, the use of "Some consider" is definitely weasel words. Also I didn't see why there needed to be a reference talking about an internal wikipedia discussion about White hole inclusion in the article. Surely it should be on the talk page instead? Thanks. 130.88.141.34 (talk) 15:55, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

change to Scythian (band) site deleted

Hey there...

I made a change to the Scythian (band) wiki page that you undid, which I feel was a mistake.

The information I put in was pertinent to the controversy issue as I feel it was necessary to express that the affiliation with the NOM organization was not one shared by Josef Crosby, one of the founding members of the band. I included a statement he release publicly, via his Facebook page, as I feel it best expresses his perspective on the issue.

I ask that you please reconsider your decision and repost the information I researched and included.

Thank you, Sara — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.231.182.62 (talk) 15:59, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

Referring to this edit. Facebook is not a reliable source. Find the information released on a reliable source (see the link for more information on reliable sources) and post an edit in your own words, citing the source as a reference. You can read more about how to cite sources here. Geoff Who, me? 16:06, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

Referring to your message, isn't it better to include the statement in Crosby's own words then to speak for him myself? Happy to not include a link to his page as a reference, but if that is where he posted the statement, doesn't that make it reliable? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.231.182.62 (talk) 16:10, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

Found another source for the statement, thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.231.182.62 (talk) 16:29, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

(edit conflict) Sara, that's good. Note that Self published sources are not considered reliable. In this case, the Facebook exception does not appear to apply for a number of reasons, including the fact that the statement involves claims by third parties, the fact that the statement may be construed as self-serving and that there can be doubts as to its authenticity. What you want to look for is a similar statement to a journalist reported in an edited publication, which could include, just by way of example, Rolling Stone, The New York Times, a video interview on an edited news program, etc., as described in the article on verifiability. Hopefully, that is what you have found. Geoff Who, me? 16:37, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

Reversion/undone-Reversion on Wormholes in fiction

Hello

Earlier today, an anonymous user undid an edit of mine to Wormholes in fiction. You reverted that edit, but then undid your reversion. I am curious as to your reasoning for undoing your reversion, a reversion I had planned to do myself. Mainly, I was going to revert his edit, because he did it anonymously. Otherwise I would have discussed it with him to attempt to find some more satisfactory solution. Since he gave no such opportunity, I will instead discuss it with you.:)

The history:

  • In the past, some user or admin, as mentioned on the talk page, decided that the White holes in fiction article was too small. He therefore decided that White Holes were a "special case" of Wormhole, and that the WHIF article should be merged into Wormholes in fiction.
  • I later created a more structured way to present the White Hole information, and included the paragraph at the top of the White holes in fiction section which is under debate.
  • Not wanting to revert the earlier decision to class white holes as wormhole analogs (as it may have been a consensus act), I never the less wanted to provide some explanation. I did that by writing "Some consider^ White Holes to be a special class of Wormhole.." I provided a footnote paragraph, explaining who the "some" were, and directing readers to the talk page. I did that, I believed, consistently with suggestions for not linking to talk pages (Ex: the final comment on this proposal).

I am thinking that maybe I should remove the "some consider" idea, changing the paragraph to something like "White holes may be considered a special class of Wormhole", and just tag it with Citation needed or the like.

I wanted to inquire about your thoughts first. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tacticus (talkcontribs) 22:17, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

I thought at first that the IP edit was unconstructive, then reconsidered and reverted my edit because, as I looked again, I couldn't tell for sure that the edit I had first reverted was indeed unconstructive, so I thought it best to leave well enough alone. No deep thoughts here. I'd go ahead with your edits. Geoff Who, me? 22:44, 20 December 2013 (UTC)
Understood, thanks. Have revised it in a hopefully acceptable way, although not sure if it meets all guidelines. As I disagree with the reasons for the original merger, it is probably not the best possible way, but it is at least less weaselly.:) Tacticus (talk) 23:48, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

arbes

Geoff,

It's not your error but mine in neglecting to include a reference for adding this word to the list of synonyms for "chickpea." I'm working from a near-native knowledge of Yiddish, having spent most of my childhood in a Yiddish-speaking household, and wasn't aware that a reference is required for everything. The word in question is translated into both Hebrew and English as the generic "peas." although I've never encountered its use for anything but chickpeas). In any case, here goes:

Guri, Yosef and Ferdman, Shoel, Short Yiddish-Hebrew-English Dictionary, Page 21, Jerusalem, (c) 1994, Department of Russian and Slavic Studies, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

If the format needs further refinement, please feel free - I"m still new at this; my only previous experience with literature citations is in chemistry. All the best, Rturkel1 (talk) 09:02, 25 December 2013 (UTC)RickRturkel1 (talk) 09:02, 25 December 2013 (UTC)

No problem - it was a new one to me. Looking about, I found a recipe and description in a blog post, which isn't a reliable source for Wikipedia purposes, but is was helpful to me. I'll add your cite to the article a bit later. For help with citation templates, see the templates article. For more on citations for Wikipedia, see the article on citing sources. And yes, facts in the aricles should have citations to reliable sources. Cory Doctorow recently wrote: "There are two secrets to doing amazing research on Wikipedia: (1) Check the sources, not the article and (2) Check the 'Talk' link." [Cory Doctorow, "Homeland" (2013) Tom Doherty Associates, LLC: New York, New York (USA) p. 394, ISBN 978-0-7653-3369-8] Which is to say that, ideally, Wikipedia will lead those who use it to the sources cited as references for statements in its articles. Cheers! Geoff Who, me? 14:00, 25 December 2013 (UTC)
Well I added the citation I found for 'arbes' (without the double brackets: cite book | title=Short Yiddish-Hebrew-English Dictionary | language = | year= 1994 | publisher= Department of Russian and Slavic Studies, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem | volume = | location= Jerusalem | isbn= | page= 21 | url= http://books.google.com/?id=_IL2MgEACAAJ&dq=Short+Yiddish-Hebrew-English+Dictionary | accessdate = 25 December 2013 | author = Yosef Guri and Shoel Ferdman), but noticed in the article history that another editor had reverted your additions of that and two other non-English terms (revision 587591264 by JohnBlackburne) with the comment that English common names should be used. I saw the editor's point: this is, after all, the English Wikipedia. So I reverted my addition. Geoff Who, me? 14:40, 25 December 2013 (UTC)

Hello, I received a message from you saying you'd deleted some of my edits, such as one regarding South Wales Police. I certainly haven't ever made any edits to Wikipedia. And definitely not that kind of thing! Are you sure it's me, could it be someone else nearby? Really confused. Would really appreciate it if you could get back to me on this Best wishes Moi. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.101.103.136 (talk) 17:44, 30 December 2013 (UTC)

G'day! You're talking about this edit in which I reverted unconstructive additions to the article made by someone using the IP address 2.101.103.136. As the note at the bottom of the Talk page for that IP user reflects: "This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's numerical IP address. Some IP addresses change periodically, and may be shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address." When you access Wikipedia without using an account, the system records the IP address used for that moment's access. It is very common for internet service providers to reassign IP addresses as users login and logoff the system. Thus, the edits were probably made by someone else entirely. As the note on the Talk page states, you can avoid these irrelevant notices by creating an account. Since the shoe doesn't fit, you need not wear it. (Or as a famous phrase in a 1995 murder trial in the United States noted:"If it doesn't fit, you must acquit!") Cheers, Geoff Who, me? 00:06, 31 December 2013 (UTC)

Deepcut

Yes, Geoff, I am an amateur at this but I was reading about Deepcut and noticed that Pte. Geoff Gray was said to be from Hackney, whereas I believe he is from Seaham, County Durham. His parents have been campaigning for a long time and, as I live locally to Seaham, I have been aware of this. Perhaps you could correct the Hackney entry fro me. I notice the Daily Mail says Hackney but if you search for Pt. Geoff Gray Seaham you may agree with me. Sorry for the trouble. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.173.231.159 (talk) 09:50, 31 December 2013 (UTC)

About the article Princess Royal Barracks, Deepcut. Looks like you just need a little help with citations as you seem to be correct as to Pt. Gray's home. I did find a BBC story which identified Pt. Gray as from Seaham and I've added the reference and edited the article accordingly. The web site reference form looks like this: <ref>{{cite web|url=http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-north-east-wales-24581994|title=Call for fresh inquest into 1995 death of Cheryl James at Deepcut barracks|date = 13 October 2013|accessdate=31 December 2013|publisher=BBC}}</ref>. We all are amateurs here and we all started same as you. Keep trying - you'll catch on! Geoff Who, me? 18:38, 31 December 2013 (UTC)

Hello Glane you made a mistake here is my proof

Represeantive Joe Garcia from Florida is under federal investigation for voter fraud and here's the proof

Referring to this edit to United States House of Representatives elections in Florida, 2014. Thanks for adding the Miami Herald site reference to the article after my revert. I didn't see an edit summary and, when I noticed the change to the article, it was an unreferenced addition. You might want to go back and correct spelling and also check out how to add inline citations here: Citation templates (look for the "news article" template). Puzzled...

Hello Geoff! If it was me who deleted text from this article, I apologize profusely - I would never make a change like that before asking. Even if I did decide to go ahead with it, I would definitely put a comment there.

However, are you sure it was me? (I'd like to make sure my Wikipedia user account hasn't been compromised.) I have no recollection of ever looking at this article, let alone changing it. I wonder if it could possibly have happened when I was cleaning my keyboard or something? Seems very unlikely but... hey... it's computers(!).

Since I first discovered Wikipedia I don't believe I've posted more than a few changes - and even those were probably just grammatical clarifications. (I once thought of editing the Fruitarianism article - cutting stuff out which I thought was beyond the scope... but once I saw over 30 pages of religious, political & philosophical discussions... I thought better of it! ;)

BTW - you guys at Wikipedia are FANTASTIC and I love supporting you. Keep up the excellent work! :0) 150.131.70.104 (talk) 21:16, 13 January 2014 (UTC)

You're referring to a cautionary note I posted about an edit to Gilbert's syndrome on 12 October 2011. My guess is that the IP address was reassigned and when you accessed Wikipedia on 13 January, you received the notice. As was also posted on that IP address Talk page: "This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's numerical IP address. Some IP addresses change periodically, and may be shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address." In other words, in the words of a famous closing argument from an American murder trial of 20 years ago, "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit." You said I edited a page I didn't

You sent me a message saying I edited the page of rally cap. I didn't do this, so you might have sent the message to the wrong person. If I (somehow) did, by all means revert the changes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.100.156.35 (talk) 07:05, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

Wrong person

Hi I think you've messaged the wrong person. I received a note saying that you have changed something I had written on the Alloa page, however I have never edited a wikipedia page before. 89.243.197.78 (talk) 23:40, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

About Pando

Pando never shut down its servers -.- It is still running on tons of games like league of legends or maplestory. I am pretty sure pando made that page itself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.248.245.182 (talk) 19:29, 19 January 2014 (UTC)

I reverted your addition to Pando (application), which was the phrase: "according to a dumb source." I stand by that revert as your addition was unconstructive. By all means edit the article to reflect the current state of the application if you can cite a reliable source. Geoff Who, me? 19:34, 19 January 2014 (UTC)

sorry my kid did that if u can plz forgive him he is only 6

so plz 72.64.125.226 (talk) 19:58, 19 January 2014 (UTC)

Referring to this edit to Intolerable Acts. I note that two other editors posted warnings after me regarding continued edits to the same article. Hopefully, the message got through and you're forgiven. You might want to review the tongue-in-cheek article titled: My little brother did it. Geoff Who, me? 20:05, 19 January 2014 (UTC)

2005 Cronulla riots content removal

I want to remove the stuff about Terrigal in the Economic impacts section of the 'Cronulla Riots' page. I don't think a couple of small businesses having some lower sales for a day in a town nowhere near Cronulla is really relevant! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 101.174.149.215 (talk) 10:32, 25 January 2014 (UTC)

Referring to this edit. Well, my revert of your edit was based on your removal of content from the article without explanation. Adding an edit summary always helps other editors try to understand what you are doing. Really, it's best to attempt to discuss those kinds of major changes with other editors having an interest in the subjkect of an article on its Talk page. Cheers, mate! Who is your message for?

How can a random person like me who has never had an account open a message you left over 18 months ago left to someone else? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.151.149.67 (talk) 19:17, 25 January 2014 (UTC)

You're referring to a cautionary note I posted to the IP user 109.151.149.67 Talk page about an edit to Luis García Sanz on 31 August 2012. My guess is that the IP address was reassigned and when you accessed Wikipedia today using that IP address, you received the notice. Lithuania Eurovision National Final

Hi Geoff,

I was wondering why you are against having links on the wiki page for the Lithuanian Eurovision National Final to the Voting Platform in which people can choose the song they want to be used in the contest. I find that this way people who read that wiki page (and are therefore interested in the national final) would like to have an easy way to find the voting site, so that they can cast their vote and follow which song is leading. The website is the legit link to the LRT platform.

Let me know what you think. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.212.150.34 (talk) 21:20, 25 January 2014 (UTC)

You mean this edit tp Lithuania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014. I thought the addition of multiple links did not constructively add to the article as Wikipedia is not meant to be a place for finding links for voting. You might want to start a dialogue about whether such links add to the article on its Talk page. Geoff Who, me? 23:41, 25 January 2014 (UTC)

Triad

The content I deleted from Triad_(underground_society) was repeated two times. The History section, go check it! --87.15.241.84 (talk) 00:49, 1 February 2014 (UTC)

Yes, you appear to be correct and another editor has removed the duplicated content. May I suggest that, in future, adding an edit summary when making changes to the articles so it it easier for those of us who watch changes understand what you are trying to do? Thank you for helping to improve the encyclopedia, please carry on! Cheers, Geoff Who, me? 13:52, 1 February 2014 (UTC)

John M. Kosterlitz

Hello,

Indeed, I think you made a mistake. I extended appreciably the biography of an outstanding physicist, Mike Kosterlitz, adding a few links, and removing an outdated reference. Please restore my improved version; the present version is really poor and inadequate.

Thanks and best regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.201.130.164 (talk) 12:23, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

Referring to this edit to John M. Kosterlitz. Since you didn't include an edit summary, it appeared that you were removing content. Having revisited the article and reviewed your changes, I agree with you. I have reverted my changes and restored yours. Now, please continue to improve the article further. It can use inline citations and some more fleshing out. Don't forget to leave an edit sumamry when you make changes, as those help all of us who try to watch articles for unconstructive changes. My apologies. Please carry on! Cheers, mate! Geoff Who, me? 19:24, 3 February 2014 (UTC)

Hi. I just have added the biblical Genesis 38:9 "But Onan knew that the child would not be his; so whenever he slept with his brother’s wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from providing offspring for his brother."[2] wich in any part of the article has been presented, and is fundamental to link to wich is said in the chapter Criticism "It has been suggested that God's anger was directed not at the sexual act, but at Onan's disobedience by refusing to impregnate his brother's widow.[3]" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 154.0.62.183 (talk) 17:44, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
