The article Justin Smith (Godfather of National Beer Day) has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article, which appeared to be about a real person, individual animal, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the notability of the subject may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

You should wait for others to write an article about subjects in which you are personally involved, instead of writing it yourself, as you did at Justin Smith (Godfather of National Beer Day). This applies to articles about you, your achievements, your band, your business, your publications, your website, your relatives, and any other possible conflict of interest.
Creating an article about yourself is strongly discouraged. If you create such an article, it might be listed on articles for deletion. Deletion is not certain, but many feel strongly that you should not start articles about yourself. This is because independent creation encourages independent validation of both significance and verifiability. All edits to articles must conform to Wikipedia:No original research, Wikipedia:Neutral point of view, and Wikipedia:Verifiability.
If you are not "notable" under Wikipedia guidelines, creating an article about yourself may violate the policy that Wikipedia is not a personal webspace provider and would thus qualify for speedy deletion. If your achievements, etc., are verifiable and genuinely notable, and thus suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later. Request reason:
I understand that I am not allowed to write a page on myself. For that I was not aware prior to my writing a page and won't do it again. However, I was the one who created the National Beer Day page and now I'm barred from editing it? I wrote a little bit about how National Beer Day came to be at the bottom and was labeled a vandal. I tried to link references, but the sites I was referencing weren't allowed. Here is one of the sites: http://www . examiner . com/x-383-Colorado-Springs-Craft-Beer-Examiner~y2010m4d7-Happy-days-are-here-again?cid=examiner-email I don't understand why I would be banned for editing a page that I created. - I see why the block was levied. I had just deleted the article you had written about yourself. Another administrator saw you adding yourself to National Beer Day and, without seeing the sources, blocked you. Frankly, if the Wikimedia Foundation had a dime for every teen or college student who added himself to an article, they wouldn't have to do fundraising. However, your case appears to be the exception, where there are (apparently) reliable sources that tie you to the event. I endorse an unblock of you; I'm consulting with GlassCobra to see if he concurs.
- I would advise you, at such time as you are unblocked, to edit carefully in articles about yourself or any other situation where you have a conflict of interest. (You may want to look through those guidelines while you're waiting.) You're not restricted from editing in those situations, but it's a very good idea to cite reliable sources at every step and, if there's a question about an edit you're making, take it to the talk page rather than make the edit. Also, while you connect to the National Beer Day story, you do not appear to be a notable person in your own right, so I strongly suggest that you not create an article about yourself again. —C.Fred (talk) 03:54, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
