Theories of Mediated Communication[edit]

Goexploreyourworld and jmarz33 will be editing Tip (Gratuity) on Wikipedia[1] Jmarz33 (talk) 23:23, 26 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Tip (Gratuity)[edit]

United States[edit]

A gratuity of 15 to 20 percent of the amount of a customer’s check is customary when good service is provided.[37]

Mexico[edit]

Tipping is common and part of Mexico's culture and it is normal to tip 15%-20% before tax is added to the bill. This makes up a majority of the server's income. Gratuity may be added to the bill in some restaurants and is referred to as a propina. If the propina is added, there is no need to add more.

The Caribbean[edit]

Tipping varies from island to island on the Caribbean. In the Dominican Republic, restaurants add a 10% gratuity and it is customary to tip an extra 10%. In St. Barths, it is expected that you tip 10% to 15% if gratuity isn't already included.
