Polio-free

[edit]

Polio-free is great news. However, notable events really do require an article complete with sources. As your entry currently stands, there is no article, and the factoid has no sources. As a result, I've removed this event from the June 26 date article, but I'm hoping you'll re-add it with the necessary link or links to articles. Rklawton 17:36, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Likewise, I've added a "facts" tag to your edits in the Polio article. It's important to provide information sources to edits. Once you've sorted that out, you'll have no trouble reposting your edits to the June 26 article (just link to the Polio article). Cheers, Rklawton 17:39, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome!

Welcome to the WikiProject Guitarists!! Take the time to browse around all of the projects work pages and feel free to comment on anything you think might require attention(or repair) Cheers and take care! ~ Arjun 14:44, 14 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The project has reached the quarter-way point for the work on the list of the oldest 1000 ("abandoned") articles in Wikipedia: 250 articles have been reviewed and updated!

The project now has 21 members. If you're no longer interested, please take your name off the list; you won't get any futher messages like this one. On the other hand, if you're still interested, please consider signing up for a(nother) block of 10 articles to work on - if everyone did this, we'd be almost halfway through those 1000 articles!

Finally, please note that project approach has changed slightly - there is now a section for editors to place articles that need to be "adopted", or to adopt articles that need further work. This means that if you find an article in a block of ten that needs more work than you have time for, it has a place to be put.

Loudspeaker peer review request

[edit]

I've requested the article Loudspeaker to have peer review. I noticed it was pretty good and might deserve a GA status. If you can take a look at it too and help evaluate and improve it's quality, that would be great. The peer review tag can be found on the article's talk page. --Davidkazuhiro 10:33, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cats and Stubs in 'User:Goldenglove/AKGACOUSTICSTEMP'

[edit]

I have removed cats and stub marks from User:Goldenglove/AKGACOUSTICSTEMP. The latter is a user page, therefore listing it together with Wikipedia articles, especially that on AKG Acoustics creates confusion for the reader. User_talk:Yavrey Yavrey (est vrai) 23:15, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks much for the adoption!

[edit]

Hi there! I just noticed that you wanted to adopt me, and I wanted to say thank you very much! :-)

I like your user page, and I wonder how I would get the Wikipedia Signpost and Picture of the Day boxes for my page. Do you have to go to certain pages to get the code to put them in?

Anyway, thank's again! I haven't been active recently, but now I'll get back into improving Wikipedia! :-) --GordonJTaylor 01:54, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. I tagged the article Metasonix with {{advert}} as it is written in a style reminiscent of marketing literature. Something is notable, not because you, or I, say so, but only if the claim can be attributed to an independent third party, from a reliable source. This is central to Wikipedia. I've removed the unsourced claims until then. - Tiswas(t/c) 15:29, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits to Slipknot

[edit]

I noticed in an edit to Slipknot that you removed a red link (diff). There is no problem with removing these, but editors are encouraged to leave them there so if any other editors encounter the red link, and know about the subject, they may be inclined to create the article and expand Wikipedia.

Although some articles are very rarely visited, these articles you can just get away with removing the links. --spebi 21:45, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pursuing a page for MarilynManson.com

[edit]

I read your message this morning and at first the idea just seemed silly to me — err, not silly but, it isn't too common to see an article dedicated to a band's official website on Wikipedia. So I gave it some thought, not a lot of thought before realizing many of the occurrences of MarilynManson.com are integral to the movement of the band. What's more is that Manson has almost complete control over what goes there (he did after all design the current incarnation of the site). Looking back, the internet had a big impact for Marilyn Manson when it came to promotion (ComaWhite.com, ThisAsValentinesDay.com, etc. There were more but you know my point). If a Wikipedia page for MarilynManson.com were to be launched, it wouldn't be too spectacular if it didn't include all of these campaign websites. However, I've seen the page you are working on and it seems like you are getting to a start with the changes taking place to the more recent versions of the site. If information about the site's transition from its earliest stages up to the new version launched a week ago were attained and added, the page would be more informative and thus "featurable". There was a period where the site was not only rarely updated, but also inactive, essentially, during the "Celebritarian" era. The bottom line here is that I think an article for MarilynManson.com would be interesting, given that it had all the right highlights and information. You may also want to check out the unofficial Marilyn Manson wiki. Not to be arrogant but almost everything you see there (main band page (ESPECIALLY DISCOGRAPHY SECTION), album pages (I tweaked them to be more detailed seeing as how you can expand more in a dedicated wiki rather than a general wiki), song pages (I created all of them and added lyrics from the official booklets, with the exception of Eat Me, Drink Me which I took from the official website. The other Eat Me, Drink Me song lyrics were added by I don't know who lol). My point is I had a prolific role in the development of the site from the stage I discovered it in. Spent 2 weeks straight editing it in my spare time, and recently I've had a LOT of spare time. There's still work to be done there but after my revamping streak there I've decided I'm done editing so religiously, for sanity's sake! Haha. Check it out anyways, it's pretty detailed.) R-Tiztik 15:58, 18 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I was also wondering if you would allow me to contribute to your MMCOM page in my spare time, given I could provide any information I garner and any touch-ups. R-Tiztik 00:45, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, I've provided touch-ups to what you already included, added an infobox, and added in a description at the top, and a detailing of the Eat Me, Drink Me era of the site that was recently launched. I'll do future work on the page later on, but I've been working at it for a good hour or two, so I'm gonna take a break. Nice page tho, it's got informative potential. R-Tiztik 18:23, 19 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I haven't seen the Mechanical Animals era site either. I looked around hoping there was something about it in archives or something, but nothing came up. The Nachtkabarett has no information prior to Holy Wood (In the Shadow of the Valley of Death), which makes it even more difficult. I suppose we could leave the ===''Mechanical Animals'' era=== heading in the page; maybe once the page is "launched" someone might have some information about that version of the site to add. R-Tiztik 20:35, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've added a replica of the article to MansonWiki, with extra wikilinks where necessary seeing as how the MansonWiki is far more intricate than this general Wikipedia. It is viewable here. Also, I've added links to the archived sister sites Nachtkabarett stores, to the respective sections of the website article (in both Wikipedia and MansonWiki). Sorry for the delay in responding to your offer. I appreciate the time and effort. I have also been offered adoption by another user and am considering his offer since he is also a musician, but I am inclined to ask you since your are a member of the Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums, which I just joined last night after noticing work needing to be done on the Fleetwood Mac and the Rumours pages. Pls advise. Thx, SteinAlive 01:23, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your note about a possible significance of a shift of the MLB schedule due to global warming. Although unlikely, the date given may also signify that baseball would move from the Summer Olympics lineup to the Winter Olympics events list. Just a thought. Unusual Adoption Request

[edit]

Hi! Im an English teacher in Toluca Mexico (west of Mexico City). My Advanced B classes will be contributing to Wikipedia as the focus of their English course for Fall 2007. I am looking for people who would like to mentor my students (who will be working in groups) as they do the following assignments: Edit and article (adding a citation), writing a stub with a citation, translating an English language article for Spanish Wikipedia and for the final project, writing a full article for English Wiki (they can expand on the stub mentioned previously). What I would like to do is put a list of "mentors/adopters" on my talk page as a kind of short cut for my students, who have limited time to get things done. The semester begings Aug 6, but the real Wikipedia work wont begin until the beginning of Sept. If you would like to add your name to my list, please go to my talk page and add it there, perhaps with a short introduction, if you like.

Thank you!

October 2007 newsletter for WikiProject Abandoned Articles

[edit]

Welcome

[edit]

The WikiProject welcomes two new members in the past three months:

Progress

[edit]

The WikiProject is now halfway done, numerically, with the 1000 articles identified in December 2006. The first (oldest) 500 articles have been claimed, reviewed, and (when needed, which was almost all cases) improved. Moreover, given the passage of time, many of articles 501 through 1000 have been worked on by other editors (it's ten months since that list was generated). So reviewing the second half of the 1000 articles should be easier.

A slightly different approach

[edit]

Section 6 (articles 501 through 600 on the list) has been organized differently than the previous five sections. First, blocks are (roughly) five articles each, rather than 10, making it easier for you to claim and finish a block. Second, perhaps more importantly, each block consists of similar pages; if you're interested in fixing disambiguation pages, there are blocks of those; if you're interested in articles (which is what the project originally started out being), there are blocks of those; and there is one block of lists and one of redirects (mostly redirects to articles). So, fewer surprises this time when you claim a block.

In addition, since the project now has 25 active members (though some are likely inactive), having more blocks will make it easier to spread the editing around.

Inactivating your membership

Greetings from the League of Copyeditors. Your name is listed on our members page, but we are unsure how many of the people listed there are still active contributors to the League's activities. If you are still interested in participating in the work of the League, please follow the instructions at the members page to add your name to the active members list. Once you have done that, you might want to familiarise yourself with the new requests system, which has replaced the old /proofreading subpage. As the old system is now deprecated, the main efforts of the League should be to clear the substantial backlog which still exists there.
The League's services are in as high demand as ever, as evinced by the increasing backlog on our requests pages, both old and new. While FA and GA reviewers regularly praise the League's contributions to reviewed articles, we remain perennially understaffed. Fulfilling requests to polish the prose of Wikipedia's highest-profile articles is a way that editors can make a very noticeable difference to the appearance of the encyclopedia. On behalf of the League, if you do consider yourself to have left, I hope you will consider rejoining; if you consider yourself inactive, I hope you will consider returning to respond to just one request per week, or as many as you can manage. Merry Christmas and happy editing, The League of Copyeditors.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
