March 2023[edit]

Information icon Hi Gonavan! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. June 2024[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Yū Serizawa. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. ミラP@Miraclepine 17:18, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thank you for the notice.
The "Move" tab at the top right-side inside the "Tools" is what I used for the page title change edit. It seems it's the same one you suggested as well. I did not have to copy and paste everything. All I had to do was just changing the "ū" for the title because after hitting the "Move" tab there was a simple form asking only a few questions: content for change, reason for change, additional reason for change(if applicable), etc.. Did it actually turned out differently? If so then that's weird. Gonavan (talk) 17:34, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Looking at the edits and your response, it appears you accidentally saved an edit at where the page originally was, creating a cut-paste. Next time you move a page, make sure you're not actively using the edit feature on the original title, and if you have any edits you want to save, always save them at the new title. Hope that help. ミラP@Miraclepine 18:31, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I understand now. I will keep this in mind. Thank you again for the heads up. Cheers! 🌸 Gonavan (talk) 23:39, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
